- I am losing internet connections at least 1 time/ day. I have 2 wired and 2 wireless devices.
- when the internet is down I am connected to the router (wireless and wired, the connection is not lost/cable unplugged..).
- only when I power cycle the router I recover access to my admin page and internet connection.

I often loose internet connection recently while online. I always check my status on 192.168.1.1 when this happen to see if i'm getting 0's ISP but it does not say that.I also tried ipconfig/release and renew I also tried right click wireless icon and click "repair"Power cycle always worked for me in the past but today to my dissappointment it did not.after power cycling I check my status on 192.168.1.1 and now it indicates 0's.

It recently has started dropping all internet connections very randomly, sometime multiple times in an hour. I will lose my connection to the internet and connection locally to other laptops then it will reconnect. It is also disconnecting when wired as well as I have a playstation using a wired connection out of the router and it loses connection all the time as well. What is causing this, I am pretty sure it is the router and not my internet service.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm running Windows 7 64bit and I have sucessfully configured my wireless print server (Linksys WPSM54G) to work with my computer and our HP DesignJet 500ps. I have been able to print several sets of drawings without issue, however if the plotter is inactive for an extended period of time (1 hour +/-) the wireless print server loses connection with our router. At the same time the print server loses connection, an associate in our office with a wireless connection to his computer also loses connection to the router. A simple power cycle of the router and print server restores the wireless connection
I chatted with Linksys online tech support and they confirmed that I had the most recent firmware in both the router and print server and had me reconfigure some of the wireless settings on the router. All was good until about an hour ago when I tried to plot and discovered that the print server had lost it's connection to the router and my associate had also lost his wireless connection.
What's the deal here? I feel as though the root cause of this issue is related to the wireless router rather than the print server as my associate was periodically losing connectivity to the wireless router before installing the print server.
ive been having a problem with my router since ive been using it for its wireless capabilities. it is a linksys wrt120n router. our internet comes from our local cable provider and it is good internet (10Mb download speed). running to our old router that split the connection between my xbox and our desktop computer worked fine and even for a large amout of time after i switched to this wrt120n there were no internet problems. now all of a sudden the router drops connection multiple times a day which can become a hassle when i'm doing something importaant and lose connection. and just a little bit of extra information i cycle the systems every time it does it and theres no fix.

Basically, I see that I'm connected to the router, but have a self-assigned IP. Power cycling the router does the trick. I never had this problem before, so I'm wondering what's up. The firmware has long been up to date. Router version is 8.0.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI’ve bought a router, and a wireless antenna for my laptop, since I have a high-speed internet outlet in the living room, but I use my laptop in the kitchen (I don’t have any other pc). So I’ve configured my Linksys WRT120N router in the living room, unplugged the ethernet cable from my laptop, plugged the wireless antenna in the kitchen, and everything was working fine with the wireless network. After about one month I was not able anymore to enter my network with the security key, there was actually no prompt for the security key, just a message “Cannot connect to the network”. I then had to reconfigure the router, going to the router IP address (I used the default settings, a blank for username, and “admin” as a password, as per instructions), use another network name, security key and password, and was able to start again a wireless network with the wireless antenna as before. This problem represented other 3 times (in the last 3 months), and was working fine, but now I cannot reconfigure the router anymore, since the IP address doesn’t accept BLANK/ADMIN anymore, and if I go ahead and reconfigure the router a message says I have to use the default settings in the IP address…

Sometimes all wireless devices lose the connection to the internet, and the access to the router administration page (192.168.1.1) becomes impossible. In this case LEDs of power, internet and wireless are lighting without flashing. This problem usually occurs every 48 hour, and there was no way to make a reconnection except turning the router off by unplugging the power wire and plug it again…

I have a brand new E4200 constantly losing internet connection (both wireless and wired). I have a ADSL connection to the internet, last router I had did not have the same issue. I also have a Cisco ASA 5505 for work connected to the ADSL modem and is not experiencing any disconnect issues. All computers connected to the router is losing internet connection, local lan keeps working. The internet connection gets back again after a 10-15 minutes or when resetting / turning off the router.
I have tried the following;
Changed ethernet cables
Disconnected the ASA 5505
Turned off wireless
Upgraded the firmware
Reseted to factory settings
Reciently I bought a WRT120N Router to get a better internet connection and to have more capacity to connect different wireless devices, because the modem from my internet provider company is extremely restrictive.
I use an iMac, a Notebook with Windows 7 and a Netbook with Ubuntu 11.04, besides different devices (iPhone, iPod, PS3, Kindle). Although when I configured the router I connected every devices simultaneasly, with better signal quality than before, after using it for a couple of days I found that it disconnects itself, I can't access internet, and my only solution it's to switch it off and on.

View 4 Replies View RelatedJust got a WRT120N and went online to get the most recent firmware and when i performed the upgrade it's gets about 3/4 of the way completed before it just stalls and start screen blinking like it's caught up or something. I using a modem, wrt120n router connection with a Brand New Sony Vaio laptop. I was able to upgrade my old WRT54G V5 router but can't seem to get the new router to update.

Also, if I have to buy another router to support IPV6, I'm going to buy a D-Link. It's nothing personal, I just find it absolutely idiotic that a router that supports wireless-N doesn't support IPV6. You have to ask your self, how does the standard IPV6 spec thats a few years old not make it to the final product of a router, but a non-standard wireless-N spec implementation somehow got the O.K....?
I have WRT120N, i recently updated the firmware. 1.0.06. only my bad is i done it wireless. so its basically interrupted.I have tried, hard reset and power cycle and reinstall the firmware but still the problem occurs, this time its wired.it happens intermittently. i have tried pressing reset upon turn on and reinstall firmware on the bootloader. it stablized for a while but then disconnects and blinking stikes again.

About two weeks ago, my router began dropping connection throughout the day. Sometimes it happens 3+ times in an hour. Other times it works for several hours before it drops.I upgraded the firmware as one fix and did a hard reset of the router. Still drops connection.I changed the MTU to 1400 and it worked fine for several hours but then dropped again the next morning. Also, like others on the forums, when I changed the MTU and hit Save Changes, it just ran and ran, never timed out...but never showed that it finished the command to save (if you get my meaning).I downloaded the Cisco Wireless Magic program to troubleshoot. It tells the same thing everytime. Unplug your router for 10 seconds and start over...My PC sometimes flashes a warning when I am restarting the router that I am getting Limited or NO Connectivity.

On the one PC, it keeps losing network connection. I've tried upgrading the router's firmware, reset, etc. to no avail.
I think it may be related to the same IP address being assigned to multiple machines connected to the router. Is there a way to set specific IP addresses to each item connected to the router to see?

The wireless is set to mixed mode, with WPA Personal encryption, with key renewal set at the default 3600 seconds. My problem is that the connection is not stable. I can be connected with one computer, then, as soon as another computer joins the network, I get kicked off. This happens with all of my 5 computers. In addition to this, several of my computers will not automatically connect to my network after the computer is restarted. When I try to reconect manually, it says the network is unavailable. The only way I can get back on is if I go into "Control PanelManage Wireless Networks" and delete the setting for my network, then connect again through the "Connect to a network" window.4 of my computers are running Windows Vista with a minimum of Service Pack 1. The Other is running XP with Service Pack 2.

I have a very unusual issue though.
I can connect my iphone and Xbox wirelessly through my router with no issues on their side. However, any time I do so, it kills my wired connection on my PC. I'm not doing huge downloads or P2P or anything like that. In fact, the speed drops immediately on my PC the moment I connect my phone to the wireless network regardless of what i'm doing on the phone (checking email or loading a webpage).
So i have this old WRT54GX v2. It have been running fine for the last ~5years. But since this morning i'm losing my wired connection after about 10 sec og connectivity, can't even ping it when it drops. If i turn it off for 10 sec the same problem occurs. Tried both static ip and dhcp. Wireless doesn't work either.

Intermittently, my hard wired laptop (and hard wired desktop) loose Internet connnectivity and when I look at the 4200 I see the status light flashing slowly like it was just rebooted. I am runnong 1.0.04, have reset to factory, reflashed the 1.0.04 code and done a 30-30-30 reset (so far no drops since the 30-30-30 reset but we'll see).

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been having issues with my e2500 router. I've found my connection dropping occasionally both with a wired connection and wirelessly on other computer. My desktop is connected directly to the router via ethernet and I've been keeping an eye on my network preference pane. Every 10 minutes or so the connection will be lost and computer says the cable is unplugged. It then resolves after 2 minutes.
I'm running OSX 10.8, firmware 1.0.07. Done a factory reset, power cycles etc. Configured with Cisco connect and manually multiple times. I've swapped out ethernet cables just to be sure it wasn't a cable issue.
Internet is fine when I've got the computer hooked up directly to the modem. No connection issues.
I bought this new router, and at first it seemed like it was working okay, but then i started noticing that my roku box (watch netflix) was cutting out all the time, losing the connection from the new router. I also began to notice that if more than one person was online, pages took forever to load, can't watch youtube videos and even listening to music online like Pandora became difficult.
