Linksys Wireless Router :: Losing Internet Connection To WRT54G?
Jul 12, 2011
I have to reboot my router a couple of times per day because I lose WAN access. Â This occurs with both the wireless and ethernet connections. Â Basically, I see that I'm connected to the router, but have a self-assigned IP. Â Power cycling the router does the trick. Â I never had this problem before, so I'm wondering what's up. Â The firmware has long been up to date. Â Router version is 8.0. Â
I have a WRT54G router anf DSL modem. My router keeps losing connection, wired and wireless (My connection is not visible on any laptop). I tried briged mode on the modem and I tried the configuration CD. Everything works for some months or weeks. Sometimes the CD setup asks me for manual configuration. I am using modem to desktop connection?
Recently I connected a Linksys wrt54g broadband router so that my daughter could also be online. the problem i have developed is that while I have the router connected to my network, my internet keeps kicking me off. When I disconnect the router my internet stays on and I have no problems with it. I am working with a custom built PC with quad core processor, 4 gigs of RAM, nvidia graphics card
I often loose internet connection recently while online. I always check my status on 192.168.1.1 when this happen to see if i'm getting 0's ISP but it does not say that.I also tried ipconfig/release and renew I also tried right click wireless icon and click "repair"Power cycle always worked for me in the past but today to my dissappointment it did not.after power cycling I check my status on 192.168.1.1 and now it indicates 0's.
I have a brand new E4200 constantly losing internet connection (both wireless and wired). I have a ADSL connection to the internet, last router I had did not have the same issue. I also have a Cisco ASA 5505 for work connected to the ADSL modem and is not experiencing any disconnect issues. All computers connected to the router is losing internet connection, local lan keeps working. The internet connection gets back again after a 10-15 minutes or when resetting / turning off the router. Â I have tried the following;
Changed ethernet cables Disconnected the ASA 5505 Turned off wireless Upgraded the firmware Reseted to factory settings
Router config and i just follow the instructions anyway i just bought this router cuz the old one failed and it was installed ok with internet connection and everything but when i open a program like bittorrent azureus the internet connection dies, it happens on my laptop and mac they both seem ok but when i open that program internet connection disappears
Wired connection to the router works fine. But it drops all the wireless devices (PC, phone, tablet) multiple times each day, sometimes only 30-60 minutes after reconnecting. Power cycling the router "fixes" the router and allows reconnection. There are 2 topics in the FAQ section that looked good: Getting poor or no signal from a wireless routerTop causes of dropping wireless connection on a Linksys routerbut clicking on those does not bring up anything.
I have a WRT54G conected to a desktop through a wire, and conected to a laptop wirelessly. It starts working fine, and after a while i get no internet connection in my laptop nor my desktop. After this happens i disconect the power source from the router, i conect it back again and it starts working.
I have an Option wireless router that powers have of my house and i connected a WRT54G for the other end of the house, but the problem is that the Option router needs a password to access the internet for the first time, so when I try to do the quick setup on the WRT54G it can't find the internet to finish
Wired computer runs XP sp3. Wireless runs Ubuntu 10.04. Hooked to Embarq DSL modem. Setup worked flawlessly for a year or more. Now the router is sporadically dropping the internet connection for both PCs. I haven't discovered how to guarantee an immediate reconnection so the desktop is now connected directly to the modem. The modem is apparently stable as I'm not losing the internet connection. When the router is in the circuit, the internet connection may or may not appear shortly.Â
I have some issue with internet connection and Router WRT54G. There is always "Local Connection" but no internet access. I checked that at two different laptops. One with Windows Vista and the other one with Windows XP. Both the same problem. There is a wireless connection with excellent signal strength but no internet access. I added a screen shut to see the Router setting. If more needed I will add more.
We have a old Router and a new one(the Lynksys). The old one had problems with the Wifi so we bought this one. So when we connect This Router to the Modem it doesn't show connection to the internet. (The Setup fails because of this). But with the old one it does connect to the internet. So either my modem doesn't detect the new router or vice versa. So I am not sure why its not working since on the old one it works fine.
I have had a WRT54G V3 router working successfully for a number of years now with a couple wireless PCs through a cable modem with Comcast as my ISP. All of a sudden yesterday, neither PC could access the internet. No changes had been made to the router.  I contacted Comcast and they of course had me hard-wire one of my PCs into the cable modem. That worked and I was able to access the internet. However, when I tried to put the router back in place (in either a wired or wireless fashion), I could not access the internet.  I've tried following the online Linksys troubleshooting document ion. The lights that should be lit on the router are lit. I can access the router setup web page which shows the settings still intact. I've tried going through the power sequencing to no avail. Comcast says my router is the culprit of my problem, but I don't know why it would all of a sudden stop working. My wireless printer still works so it detects a signal and my PC shows it's connected, but no internet access is possible.  What do I need to do? Are there any other diagnostic tools available? I'm out-of-warranty.Â
linksys router problems Linksys wireless router connected to cable modem. over time router looses connection to internet. rebooting router reestablishes connection. running XP sp3 from laptop connected wirelessly?
I bought a Linksys router last summer for my PC and Xbox. The PC and XBox are hardwired into the router. About two weeks ago, my router began dropping connection throughout the day. Sometimes it happens 3+ times in an hour. Other times it works for several hours before it drops.I upgraded the firmware as one fix and did a hard reset of the router. Still drops connection.I changed the MTU to 1400 and it worked fine for several hours but then dropped again the next morning. Also, like others on the forums, when I changed the MTU and hit Save Changes, it just ran and ran, never timed out...but never showed that it finished the command to save (if you get my meaning).I downloaded the Cisco Wireless Magic program to troubleshoot. It tells the same thing everytime. Unplug your router for 10 seconds and start over...My PC sometimes flashes a warning when I am restarting the router that I am getting Limited or NO Connectivity.
So i have this old WRT54GX v2. It have been running fine for the last ~5years. But since this morning i'm losing my wired connection after about 10 sec og connectivity, can't even ping it when it drops. If i turn it off for 10 sec the same problem occurs. Tried both static ip and dhcp. Wireless doesn't work either.
I have an E4200 v1 wireless router.  Intermittently, my hard wired laptop (and hard wired desktop) loose Internet connnectivity and when I look at the 4200 I see the status light flashing slowly like it was just  rebooted.  I am runnong 1.0.04, have reset to factory, reflashed the 1.0.04 code and done a 30-30-30 reset (so far no drops since the 30-30-30 reset but we'll see).Â
I have a WRT400N that loses connections for my PC and other devices in my house (IPHONE, IPAD etc.).Sometimes it fixes itself other times I need to to a hard reset to boot the router and then evryone can signin again  The Firmware Version: 1.0.01 B19
I have a Linksys WRT120N wireless router that I have had for almost three years now. It recently has started dropping all internet connections very randomly, sometime multiple times in an hour. I will lose my connection to the internet and connection locally to other laptops then it will reconnect. It is also disconnecting when wired as well as I have a playstation using a wired connection out of the router and it loses connection all the time as well. What is causing this, I am pretty sure it is the router and not my internet service.
Currently I have the ea 6500 and it seems to lose connection to my IPAD 3 often. I have setup the IPAD to connect to 5ghz connection and it will still lose connection. Is this an ongoing issue? I also noticed that it signal stength isn't fully covering my home like my linksys wrt54g did.
I've been having issues with my e2500 router. I've found my connection dropping occasionally both with a wired connection and wirelessly on other computer. My desktop is connected directly to the router via ethernet and I've been keeping an eye on my network preference pane. Every 10 minutes or so the connection will be lost and computer says the cable is unplugged. It then resolves after 2 minutes.  I'm running OSX 10.8, firmware 1.0.07. Done a factory reset, power cycles etc. Configured with Cisco connect and manually multiple times. I've swapped out ethernet cables just to be sure it wasn't a cable issue.  Internet is fine when I've got the computer hooked up directly to the modem. No connection issues.
I bought this new router, and at first it seemed like it was working okay, but then i started noticing that my roku box (watch netflix) was cutting out all the time, losing the connection from the new  router. I also began to notice that if more than one person was online, pages took forever to load, can't watch youtube videos and even listening to music online like Pandora became difficult. Also it says that I can get up to 300 mbps but when i run the test I get .50 download and about 1.8 upload Details About Router & Connection,Its a Linksys E1500  with the capability of up to 6 devices and my IPS is Comcast.
I recently purchased a Linksys e3000 router. Everything is going great except that both my desktop (Windows 7 Machine) and Laptop (Macbook Pro) keep losing the connection to a DLINK 323 Nas drive I have plugged into the router. This is problematic because I keep my itunes library on the NAS drive.

Firmware 10.0.4 April 2012 WinXP SP3 AT&T Basic DSL Slipstream 5100 wired and wireless connection constantly drops then re-establishes connection every 15-30 seconds or minutes. How to fix this ventilation is not a problem nor the power source very close to switching to dd-wrt if no solution in 48hrs?
I recently upgraded my Wild blue internet service to the "Exede" system. When I kept losing the connection to my Mac Air book, the Wild blue service tech suggested that my wireless router (Linksys Wireless G 2.4 GHz router) was not robust enough to handle the increased "speed". They recommended I purchase a new router so I purchased the Linksys EA4500.  Now, after three weeks, the Linksys EA4500 router has stopped working. I am able to hook one of our Mac Books directly to the satellite modem to access the internet through an Ethernet connection. Finally, I finally reconnected my old Linksys Wireless G router to the modem to check to see if it would work and it does.  So, I'm wondering about the failure rate of the new Linksys EA4500 routers? Is there anything else I might try to get my new router to work??? I have unplugged it for an hour and then re connected it. I have pushed the reset button..My wireless indicator on the Mac Book Air shows full signal strength, but I can't connect to the internet with my new (less than 3 weeks old) router.
I recently purchased at Linksys X2000 Router/dsl modem, I ran the setup and everything works fine except for when I am trying to play games online with one device and surf the web on another device it keeps kicking one or both devices offline, but if only one of them is on it works fine.I have AT&T dsl and I have checked all my setting and the router was setup by linksys Cisco Connect program but it still gives me this issue. Is there anything I can do to fix this? My old WRT54G Router and AT&T dsl modem did not have this problem.
My internet connection seems to drop a lot, I'm using a WAG54G2 modem connecting via a wired connection; and my ISP is Iprimus and I'm running off an Adsl2+ connection. The light on the modem that goes out when I lose connection is usually the internet although sometimes it is the DSL light, when my connection drops out I also seem to lose speed when I reconnect, which I was able to fix by pulling the power plug out and putting it back in but it no longer works as often. Â The top speed I have measured via 9url]... has been 350 kb/s and the lowest has been 12 kb/s.My phone line also has a loud crackly sound which goes away when I unplug my modem from the line.I used to be able to unplug my phone line to keep the connection up but that no longer works. Â This problem is not consistent as I will have days when it is bad (slow connection speed and constant connection dropping) and days when it is alright (decent connection speed and hardly or no connection dropping).I am also running a few filters for my phone, I've tried taking the filters out but that doesn't fix it, I've tried unplugging the phone which used to work as I mentioned before but no longer does. Before I bought this modem I can't remember what I was using but that had history with locking out the connection which by replacing the modem fixed my bad connection for a 5-7 months.
I am using the E2500 v1.0 on TWC network (road runner) wit a VISTA upgraded to Windows 7 laptop. After few months the router is starting losing connection. I tried connecting my laptop directly to the twc modem and the connection is fine, while if I connect to the E2500 v1.0, through wired or wireless connections, I see that the connection is going back and forth.I tried resetting the modem and the router, upgrading the wireless router firmware, but nothing worked.Â
