D-Link DIR-615 :: Internet Connection Intermittently Dropping?

The old 615 has been working very well for some years now, but the last couple of days we have had to turn it off and on again to get internet. It has happened 3 times in the last 24 hours. The globe light on the router remains green, and the notification icon on windows 7 doesn't show any problems yet we cant connect to the web. I've been looking on the forum and trying to understand some of the solutions and checklists already posted, but they don't make a whole load of sense to me unfortunately.
The firmware on the router is 2.27. The only change I have made to the system is that my wife's lan card seems to have died a death last week, and her computer is now connected by wireless. My computer is now the only one connected to the router by a lan cable.
There is something I don't understand. Under setup / network there is a dhcp reservations section. Pretty much every device seems to have a reserved IP address, and some of the devices that are reserved we no longer own. My son does gaming and wants a constant IP address, and my computer might need a permanent IP (don't know - just guessing here). Should all the other computers be allowed to sort themselves an IP every time they log on? Most of the devices have expires never, and some of the devices have the blue link that I can click for revoke and reserve with a time by them.
Am I barking up the wrong tree here and this lot has nothing to do with the dropping connection? What do the revoke / reserve and times mean? What happens when the lease runs out? Will the connection drop on that computer and it will have to try and connect itself again, or does it start a new lease every time it logs on to the router?
I've been having some issues with my DIR-825, it's been intermittently dropping internet connection. Â This is across multiple OS (Win 7, Ps3 OS, iOS, etc.
Recently been taking my Laptop installed with Win7 Pro to a Friends and was sharing his Wireless connection from Belkin ADSL2+ wireless router and notice that every now and again the wireless connection would drop out and the only way to regain a connection to the reset the router. My friends network has two laptops on it connected wirelessly with Windows XP home edition SP3, and a Desktop PC with XP also on connected to router Via Ethernet, also a Windows Home Server and XBOX 360 also connected by Ethernet, My friend since updated his laptop to Windows 7 Home Premium and is using the Wireless connection which now finds intermittent loss of connection which can only be restored by Resetting the Router. why a Router should lose connection just by connecting a Win7 laptop wirelessly or is there more to it than that.
I have a desktop computer and a laptop computer both running Windows 7 Home Premium. The desktop is connected to the router directly and the laptop is connected to the wireless network. When I restart both computers, I can see and access the other computer through the home network without problems. But after a while, sometimes just a few minutes, I can only see the other computer but cannot access it. Sometimes, I cannot even see the other computer. If I do a "ipconfig /release" and a "ipconfig /renew", it may sometimes correct the problem for a while.
I have looked at many related discussions on the web and none of the suggestions work for me.I have the firewalls disabled on both computers, as well as the ipv6 and IP service. I have also disabled the Bonjour service.I have turned a number of services, such as computer browser, server, workstation and many others to automatic as people suggested.
FSD 7632-4 Router.Have this 2006 router which has started dropping the connection and/or slowing it down intermittently. Before I replace it, would like to update the firmware. Have downloaded the update but cannot log-in on the setup utility page as I cannot remeber my password (apparently it is not set to blank!).
I have a Netgear DG834G v3 ADSL router which I have had since early-2007.
When I work from home I connect to office networks on a Win7 machine via a Rackspace-provided VPN using Cisco System VPN Client 5. It works well, except for one issue that is costing me time every working day.
I get intermittently disconnected from the VPN, without any warning or apparent reason.
Since I bought the router 5-6 years ago I have had no need to update firmware, so other than ISP configuration I have had no need to change the router at all and I can say it's worked well for me.
What would be the reason for my VPN connection dropping? Is this an ISP issue (my ISP is Carphone Warehouse/TalkTalk) that I have to take up with them or is it more likely a hardware problem with my router or a VPN configuration issue?
My instincts are to not look into VPN config at the moment as I know a colleague who uses the same VPN through a different router and ISP can stay connected for hours, even overnight.
I have seen several posts regarding internet connection dropping. Mine does the same. I have a cable modem in front of the router. The router is setup with two SSID's (one 2.4GHz, and the other 5GHz). So often the connectivity to ENET drops, forcing me to power cycle the router. Other then the two SSID's, the router setup is factory default. I need to debug this. I have noriced that the DNS IP addresses do not show up under setup. Where do I start?
My router keeps dropping my internet connection. I wonder If its the ISP cable modem that drops it and messes up my router forcing me to reboot. Drops it cause of some time out; or the like.If I can have the router periodically send a signal to my modem
my internet connection keeps dropping recently. I first thought it was caused by my router, so I bought a new router D-Link DIR 835 but the problem still exists and seems even worse.
I don't know where to begin but I have about 4 land lines to the router, and 2-3 wireless computers. But what I notice is that the internet connection is very slow and things drop. My downloads would be incomplete, and streaming is terribly slow. My torrent downloads will always reset. Simply put, this type of internet connection is terrible.
I have just purchased a DIR-825. Set up went through without a hitch. (I have it wired, not wireless at the moment). But I am consistently dropping my connection to the internet/Lan . I have a dual boot system (WinXP-Win7) and it's happening on both platforms, so i know it's not an OS problem. I have reverted to my old DIR-604 out of frustration. I was hoping you might have suggestions or a potential solution before I contact customer support for official assistance (if it exists) on this matter.
I purchased this router and a Motorola Surfboard SB5101U for my home network. My current set up at home for devices connected to router are as follows:
2 Macs and 2 iphones - Wireless 2 Directv boxes, 2 blu-ray players and xbox360, Ethernet cabling.
The issue I am having is that everyday at-least 7-8+ times my internet will just stop coming through. I never lose connection to the router it's self. But I cannot load webpages/content on any of my devices. They always show as being connected fine to the router though. I have attempted to call Cox cable, my ISP, to resolve the issue. And I am always told that everything looks fine on their end and that the issue must lie with the connection between the Modem and router. The rep then walks me through a complete reboot of both router & modem and of course, the issue is resolved 100% of the time. I am trying to fix the issue my self to avoid a $50 service call fee from Cox which could still not fix any issues at all. Since I have done some searching and found some advice on making changes to the configuration of the router. But time after time I continue to get the same issue.Â
I am having a very frustrating issue with my wireless D-LINK 615 (firmware 5.0.1 NA). The internet connection drops constantly every 2-3 hours. Here are the settings on my router:

This seems to happen after I upgraded the firmware. Before that, did not get a complaint from my children or wife. Before I squeeze the last drop out of this lemon.
I installed my camera a week ago and have since noticed every 15 minutes (only while the camera is plugged in) or so I would lose my internet connection. A message comes up at the bottom of my screen that says 'local area connection. A network cable is unplugged'. It takes 15-20 seconds for the connection to be re-established.
I called my ISP and asked if there were any settings on my router I needed to change since the camera install but they told me 'no' and I should contact tech support for the camera.Â
I setup a D-Link DIR-825, VB1, Firmware V2.00NA about a month ago. We have 3 Macs here at home - 1 brand new iMac, a G4 Powerbook, and an old G4 / 933 Tower. The G4 tower is connected via ethernet. The other two through Wi-Fi. My problem is that I can barely use the internet for even a few minutes on the G4 tower, connected via Ethernet, without losing my connection. I can be in the middle of loading a page or an image, and suddenly it will say "Waiting for xxx.com". Then if I try to go to Google.com or something I will invariably get "Looking up xxx.com". The connection usually returns on it's own, but it can take up to 3 or 5 minutes. When I get this message on the ethernet G4 tower, I will also have lost connection on the wireless Macs. For the first couple of weeks the tower was not connected and we were just using the two wireless Macs, and they were working well. It seems that as soon as I hooked up the G4 tower via ethernet, connections became very flaky and intermittent all of a sudden.All the Macs are configured for DHCP. We have a Time Warner cable modem. The G4 tower had previously been used at my office with it's own dedicated DSL modem / router, and it worked flawlessly for months at a time without dropping a connection. Â I've tried rebooting the modem, then the router, then turning all the Macs back on, several times. Same result. Â I just tried loading the new firmware but it didn't work. Said the Gateway was too crowded or something.
My internet connection seems to drop offline randomely while surfing the net. It basically results in yahoo or google freezing for 20-60 seconds before unfreezing and running flawlessly again. I seen a previous post that requested the individual hit start, run, cmd, and enter tracert google.com.

Have noticed this in almost a regular pattern. About every 3 seconds the internet light whick is blue most of the time will ocassionally flash white then maybe yellow. Does not appear to interupt internet access yet last only a second (at the longest),so don't know if I would notice. Am connected to DSL modem and see no change it its indicator lights,(traffic, collision, lan), when it occurs on the DIR-655. Have three PC's and a network (LAN)  printer as well as wireless enabled. BTW is does not matter if wireless is active. What do the different colors mean ??  Blue = Connected White =  Yellow = Â
We have a Cisco ASA and recently purchased a cisco small business srp527 router. It is connected to our ADSL2 connection and is working fine. I have configured the device with an ipsec tunnel using an ike profile and the tunnel is created successfully with packets traversing the tunnel. However packets are being dropped intermittently, with no cause. The link is currently not being utilised, there is no load on the network however when I ping Google and any address subject to the rules of the tunnel i notice that a single packet is dropped every now and then.
I have a Linksys Wireless-N Home Router, WRT120N to be exact, and I have been having problems with my wireless. My wifi losses internet connection intermittently. This does not happen when I am connected directly to the router with a Ethernet cable. I have redone all the settings many times(like 6) and Im still having the same problem. I really dont want to have to buy a new router
For eight months we have not had any problems with our new WRVS4400N (V2.0.2.1) connected to a Verizon/Westell 6500 to provide DSL internet for our network with DHCP on our server... No changes have been made to the router or modem since initial setup; but, then it started -- Our internet connection would drop intermittently. Sometimes every 5 or 10 minutes - sometimes every hour. Verizon has tested the lines which came up ok, then they sent a tech who changed the wire pair coming into the building for the DSL line and retested the lines which again came up ok, then they provided us with a new modem (now a Verizon/Westell 7500). After all that, the DSL still connects then disconnects intermittently. I am now wondering if the issue lies with the WRVS4400N.
I have been having problems with my Internet the past couple weeks. If I am watching a video, it doesn't matter which site, the video will stop and start from the beginning or the video will just stop altogether and I have to refresh the page. Another problem that happens while browsing, it will take about a minute for a page to load. The computer I am using is wired right into the router.
The rest of the family's computers the apple tv and the roku are wireless. I have been hearing complaints from them and have witnessed the laggyness. While streaming videos on the roku or apple tv, the video will stop and say video is not available or no connection. This is what I get from ipconfig/all

I've had it for a little over a year and its always been really good with internet connection, strength-wise and speed, never dropping below 95% and just a Megabyte or two off from my corded computer. I have a high end d-link network card in two other computers as well and they each experience the same problem. So something is up with the router. Frequently, when I connect this specific computer to the internet, it drops wireless signal completely and won't connect for any computer for a couple minutes. Then suddenly, out of the blue i'll regain connection. Also, i used to always get a strong 35 Mbps on wireless, which I still do on corded, but now i only do on rare occasion. Most of the time i'm stuck at 12 or 14 and even more often, it drops to 1 or 2. Very unstable. I have reset it it multiple times, along with my modem, still same old problem persists...
My internet has never had many issues, but since 2 days ago it has been frequently dropping the connection every so often (maybe every 10-30 minutes). The speed jumps all over the place, reaching as high as 2mb/s and then dumping down to 0.14 kbps while going up and down. I am not sure what the issue is. I am running wirelessly on my desktop using a D-Link DWA-130 adapter.
My DIR 651 randomly drops connection, is not set for IP fragments (error on PS3 even though I set MTU), and has a flashing green globe compared to my other DLink router which has a solid green globe (replaced with DIR 651). I have BHN Road Runner Turbo (Speeds of 30mb/2mb) and my modem (supplied by ISP) is a Motorola SB5100.
I have a D-Link DWA 510 and it's been perfectly fine, no hassles. Until about a week ago. Since then, not a lot has changed in my computer except for a new PSU/CPU and Keyboard and Mouse. Nothing has changed about the router, it's just the card that's messing up.

To start off, the wireless router we have is a D-LINK 615 Wireless N 300 Router.We've had this router for a couple of months now and only recently has it been giving us grief. When we first got it (it was actually a friend's who had lent it to me but have been using ever since), it was working like a charm. No dropped connections, etc.However, as of a few weeks ago, we've began to notice that the connection has been dropping constantly. It started one a day around the same time (in the evening) and ever since has happened multiple times per day.The connection will either drop all together (lights still going on flashing) or there will be a limited connection (as stated in Windows) and I can't do anything. This happens for my laptop as well as my PS3. My desktop is hard-wired so there's never a connection issue there. Power cycling the router usually fixes the issue but again, this is constant and keeps disconnecting for some reason and having to power cycle every day is annoying.All the lights are always flashing like normal but the connection just drops off.
I'm using the 802.11 Mode Mixed, with WPA (Both WPA-WPA2).
I'm new but I recently bought a new D-Link DIR-615 router. After getting everything setup manually due to the cd install not working properly. I was walked through the manual setup with D-Link Tech Sup. Now everything is working fine, but when I go to open mushclient and log into one of my mushes to rp, I will connect just fine, but after a min or so the connection drops on the client itself.
Now before this D-Link, I had a Netgear router and Lynksys Routers, ran the install software and everything. Things worked, I was able to login to my mushes and not worry about getting disconnected from them. But now with his router, I feel because I didn't install the software, that something wasn't setup properly and I have to reconnect to the mush every few minutes. Now the internet doesn't drop, I'm still online, still able to surf, able to play on my Xbox 360 and connect online with my laptop. But this one program, the connection drops constantly. Now If I just connect using just my modem, I can stay connected until the mush times out due to me being idle for say about 8mins. But if I'm chatting with someone in Mushclient, the connection drops and I have to reconnect.
All the firmware is updated. This router will drop the connection with the devices every 30min to 1hr. The devices do not have any issues with other routers.

I added XBox 360 about a month ago and didn't change any settings. Â About a week and a half later, I started constantly dropping connection to laptops and Xbox 360. Â I tried changing router setup to recommended settings for gaming with XBox 360 with no difference. Â Since changing set-up to above, internet is NOT dropping out. Â But now I need setting up for XBox 360 gaming and PS3 movie streaming without losing connection again.
I have just upgraded my network to the 802.11n standard, or at least am trying to do that. Im using a DIR-615 as Access Point and a DAP-1522 as bridge to cover the entire area.After having some trouble figuring out how to set up and connect the devices, i figure out that it might some other problem than my setup of the devices (The symptom was that the connection was ok, but then it seemed to be dropped, even though the DAP-1522 still displayed connected in the status page).
After reading what I could find about the DIR-615 and DAP-1522 in this forum and on the internet, I found a suggestion about changing the Wireless Mode from 802.11b/g/n to 802.11b/g, and after doing that everything works fine, its just not an upgrade anymore.I have fixed the channel to 10, just to check that it wasnt noise from other equipment. The symptoms are very reproducable, trying to connect wiin n-mode and bridge only works for 30-60 secs. Switching back to b/G mode and all is fine.
DIR 655 HW: A4 FW: 1.35NA Modem: Motorola SB6120 Â I'm having problems with my wireless connection constantly dropping and have set the optimal settings from the sticky's in the forums, nothing has changed this problem.
-Have changed to a empty Channel. (8) - TX and RX packets dropping, also some errors. -All new CAT 6 cabling between router and modem. -Have tried all different wireless modes. -Wired clients are working perfectly. -Changed the DNS servers.
My D-link wireless router (WBR-1310) keeps dropping my internet/email connection. The little green lights are all flashing intermittently except of the one on the far left which stays on. I will have a connection for a little while/few minutes and then it drops.
