Linksys Wireless Router :: Wrt120n / Wifi Keeps Going Off
Jul 2, 2012
I have a WRT120N router installed in my office. All PC and Laptops are connected to it via WiFi.there are about 3 PC and 4 Laptops. The WiFi keeps going Off now and then..and comes back on in a minitue or so.
I bought two wrt120n routers.Once I connect the first one and get internet working, I connect the second one with the first one with a cable using their 1-4 ports. I need to configure the second one in order to have wifi at home.
I just installed an older router (WRT120N). Purchased an adapter for desktop and wireless connection for destktop works. Cannot get other devices to use the wifi (iphone, ipod, android phone...). I am at a loss. Saw some suggestions about disabling a Upn or something under the router's LAN properties
I recently purchased a WRT120n router to set up wifi in my house. I had installed the software and had the Wifi up and running. However, I am unable to connect to my wifi connection thru my cell phones. It does not connect to any of the smart-phones we have at home (Nexus S, iPhone 3G, )
The wifi connection is working on the laptops (Mac and Windows). Just not connecting to the phones.
I have a Linksys WRT120N wireless router. I am currently only using wired connections to the router. I recently bought a Nexus 7 tablet computer and would like to connect to the Internet wirelessly. How do I turn on the wirelss capability of my router securely?
I have an Airport Express and two wireless routers. The Airport Express is connected to Router 1 via Ethernet. Router 2 is connected to Router 1 via Ethernet. Since I like to know which Wireless Router I'm connected to, Router 1 & 2 use different SSIDs. Router 1 is the DHCP server (DHCP turned off on Router 2). All security settings are turned OFF.Router 1 is a Linksys WRT120N with latest firmware and Router 2 is a Belkin Wireless Router.I can connect via wireless to Router 1 and Router 2 via the seperate SSIDs and have Internet connectivity (Router 1 is connected the the Internet) and print to a wireless printer connecter to the Router 1 wireless network.
Now here is the strange thing. I can see the Airport Express only if I connect to the Router 2 wireless network!!! I cannot see it if I connect to the Router 1 wireless network, yet the Airport Express is connected via Ethernet to ROUTER 1 !So for some reason, the LinkSys WRT120N Wireless Router won't route the Airport Express to a wireless client on it's own wireless network, but it will route it to an Ethernet client which is what any client connected to Router 2 wirelesslessly is seen as. When connected to router 1 wirelessly I can ping the IP of the Airport but something is preventing it from working with iTunes/iPhone/Airport Utility. It is bizarre because these are all devices connected to the same LAN. SInce I can ping it, it tells me that it isn't a routing issue, but there must be some sort of filter between the wireless and ethernet that is preventing the Airport protocol from being transmitted.
I have a Cisco Linksys Router Model WRT120N - which is connect wirelessly to my MAC home computer. I also have a Dell D630 Laptop using WindowsXP. I have recently moved and my laptop used to connect to my wireless router (when I was at my old house) But now at my new house my laptop wont connect. It will connect wirelessly at other locations. The laptop picks up the wireless name and shows full strength.
I have a Linksys Wireless-N Home Router, WRT120N to be exact, and I have been having problems with my wireless. My wifi losses internet connection intermittently. This does not happen when I am connected directly to the router with a Ethernet cable. I have redone all the settings many times(like 6) and Im still having the same problem. I really dont want to have to buy a new router
I bought a new Linksys WRT120N modem which is working great, but the wireless for some reason isn't working properly. My computer is able to sense the exsistence of the connection tho. I've tried using other computers to connect to it, and still the same problem, can sense but cannot connect.
I currently have a network using ipaddress 10.1.x.x and 10.2.x.x and 10.3.x.x with a subnet of 255.0.0.0 I purchased 2 of the wrt120n wireless routers for testing and find I can not use the subnet of 255.0.0.0.
I have a WRT120N and have been trying to set up priorities using the QoS under the tab Applications and Gaming. Everytime I "Save Settings" it does not save. It refreshes the page and deletes everything I just set up.
I did Live Chat and they told me it was my router. I returned it and got another one... Same problem
I'm using an Static IP adress and i'm using wrt120n router, but to connect the internet i have plugged the internet cable in the 1,2,3,4 (doesn't matter which one) slot. So now i'm just using the wirelss part of the router without "routering" if i can say so. When i put the internet cable in the Internet slot of the router, the laptop just cant connect to internet - it shows Unidentified network without Internet Access. I don't know what type of changes i have to make in the WEB interface of the router. I think i have to set the type of the connection - now is DHCP and may be to put my IP adress, DNS, Subnet mask in the router settings, but don't know how exactly. I've tried to set up the router with the CD-interface but same thing happened - Unidentified network when the cable is plugged in the Internet (yellow) port. How to set up the router to be a router, not just a wireless switch?
My roommate and I recently got a WRT120N to replace an older Linksys router that was exhibiting the same problems with less frequency. Indeed, the entire reason we got the new router was to fix these problems. Alas, they have become worse.Anyways, what's happening is that the router constantly resets itself. It does this every 20 minutes to an hour and doesn't seem to be related to how much traffic it's dealing with. It's not just the internet going down, it's the entire network, and not even just the wireless part. My computer has a wired connection to the router and, and I get told "A network cable has been unplugged" every time it happens. Then, if I look down at the router, I see no flashing lights, just the steady glow of the power light. It always fixes itself after 10-15 seconds, but it's very annoying. Certainly, playing games online or having a conversation on Skype is made more difficult. As previously mentioned, we replaced our older router because it was exhibiting the same behavior, but the new one does it with greater frequency. At the very least, the router does reset itself instead of needing us to cycle the power. The setup was slightly different with the old router: I was using a wireless connection with a WMP54Gv4 which I've had to disable since it bluescreens the moment it so much as sniffs a signal from the WRT120N?
Is there anyway to disable WPS on the WRT120N router?
All I can do is switch the "view" from WPS to manual configuration in the management console...this doesn't actually disable anything.Maybe I don't understand WPS security, but what's the point of using a 20 character WPA2 password if WPS has an 8 digit PIN that I can't change or disable?
I just bought a WRT120N to set up with my new Gateway Windows 7 64-bit using Cablevision cable internet. When I go through the steps from the CD to install, the wizard does not find the connection. When the internet is plugged directly into the computer, it works fine. If I have the router plugged in first and then run the install CD, it picks up the router as an existing router but I can't get it to install
I plan on replacing my linksys BEFW11S4 wireless router with a new linksys WRT120N wireless router. Should I completely remove and unplug the old router before inserting the startup CD and beginning the installation process for the new router?
I have several computers and printers connected to a WRT120N router which is connected to 10mpbs DSL. The computers are all running WIN7 and are hardwired to the router. On the one PC, it keeps losing network connection. I've tried upgrading the router's firmware, reset, etc. to no avail.
I think it may be related to the same IP address being assigned to multiple machines connected to the router. Is there a way to set specific IP addresses to each item connected to the router to see?
I don't have any problem with the wireless computers connected to the router but the wired one keep geeting disconnected. I'm loosing the internet many times a day on thiis one. Like I said the wireless is ok. My old router on my computer ( wired) was working well before I installed the wrt120n.
I've recently bought a WRT120N router, when I install the router using the CD an error occured error 322 New router or gateway not detected. I tried to download new version of firmware but it didnt work.
I can't access the web based setup via 192.168.1.1. I've had this problem since I swapped to Static Ip from PPPoE. I changed internet provider and now when it type 192.168.1.1 in the browser it says Internet explorer can't show the web page. I've tried Crome and FireFox but with the same result. I followed the instructions in [URL] but to no result.
I replaced a WRT120N router with a new one thinking that the old one was damaged. During setup, the router wasn't recognized. I used the same connection for a line from the internet to my LAN connectin and the line works fine. Connecting through the router is no good.
I am considering to purchase a Linksys Wireless router, but I just don't know which one to select. There are so many different types that seem to have very similar (if not equal) specs. If I just limit myself to the WRT120N, the WRT160N and the E1000, they all have 4 ethernet ports (10/100), and they all support 802.11 b/g/n for the wireless part.Obviously they all promise a blazing performance, and wireless coverage throughout the whole house, without (many) blind spots. But if their specs are the same, why are they different types?
Several days ago there was a huge storm, and I think a thunder burned the WAN port of my linksys wrt120n router. Everything else is working good, I can detect the local network but I don't have internet. My internet connection is also working good. My question is, do I have a possibility to use some of LAN port like a WAN? I'm only using 2 of 4 LAN ports. It would be very useful because it's a pity to buy another router just for a not working WAN port.
I am trying to manually setup a WRT120N router. I am using my laptop (hard wired) for the initial setup. Okay, everything is working fine until I unplug the ethernet cable and try to go wireless. Will not connect to my network. I am also having this problem with all my other devices.
I had everything running fine on a WRT54G, I just wanted to try out the WRT102N. I did change the SSID name form what I was using on the WRT54G.
I'm having an issue where essentially my only course of action is to unplug the router and plug it back in. I can connect my laptop (Dell Inspiron N4010) and my phone (HTC Inspire) once. But then if I put my computer to sleep, or I take my phone out of the wireless range and come back, I cannot connect again. I've gone through and played with the settings (changing the upnp, the beacon intervals, the channel, etc) but to no avail. Invariably, I always have to come back to unplugging and plugging back in.
Also have a Kobo E-Reader and a wireless Canon printer. The whole point of a wireless printer was so that it would stay connected and I can print from my laptop. This router is making this useless.
My mother in law bought my daughter a impression android tablet for Christmas it connects fine at public hotspots but I can not get it to connect to our wrt120n router at home. I have tried everything I know to add it. It asks for the password then says getting IP address then disconnects.
how to get the factory firmware version 1.0.01. I have a problem with the settings. I want to return to the basic version, but can not find anywhere else.
the kids received an iTouch for Christmas and I've spent the last 3 hours trying to get them connected to our home network. I have an existing network with two computers, I'm using a WRT120N router, the iTouch is picking up the network but when we put the password in we get an "unable to join network" message.
