My primary home wireless is a Linksys WRT54GS Broadband Router. I have an older Netgear WGR614 Wireless Router that I would like to setup as a wireless bridge to use in another room to connect my other electronics to (i.e tv, blu-ray, Wii).

View 3 Replies View RelatedAt my office we have a simple network using a Netgear WGR614 V7 router. 4 XP machines are connected via Ethernet cable and three other people are connected wirelessly (one XP laptop, one Win7 laptop and one Win 7 netbook). It appears that whenever the netbook is on the network, the other two laptops lose connectivity. The wired machines are fine. Power cycling the router and rebooting usually solves the problem.

Download speeds are reaching 1.1mb/s but browsing on the internet is unbelievably slow and fails to load pages most of the time saying the DNS look-up failed. I was thinking of purchasing the Buffalo Wireless-N300 Cable Router. I'm with Virgin Media, i think on 10meg broadband. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an old D-Link DIR-615 wireless N router that I am trying to re-purpose as a wireless bridge so I have network access in the back part of the house where I can't run ethernet wires.
I successfully installed installed DD-WRT on the D-Link and thought I had configured the D-Link into a wireless bridge; however, the D-Link just does not want to communicate with my primary Zoom Cable Modem / Wireless Router. Pings between the two devices return nothing. I disabled all security, they are on the same subnet (192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.6 for the D-Link), same SSID, etc.
I attached a word doc with screen shots of the settings on both devices.
I have a Cisco 881W and I would like to basically some how bridge the Cisco router to my netgear router. This is what I'm trying to achieve:

I've tried setting the Cisco 881W with station-role non-root with the SSID of my netgear router, but I get the error %DOT11-4-CANT_ASSOC: Interface Dot11Radio0, cannot associate: No Response whenever I try to bridge it.
Is bridging the Cisco router via wifi to the Netgear Router something that is not possible or is it an error on my part?

I'm trying to set up my desktop using windows xp and a tl-wr541g v7 router to an existing wireless network from a mac using a tl-wr941n router.
I tried using this guide [URL] I followed it and set up all the settings the same but it just ends up cutting everyone off connected to the wifi
I know both these routers support bridging and they're from the same company but I don't know how to set them up.
I have a Netgear wireless router(WGR614 v9) and im trying to connect a second laptop to it. The laptop is accessing the internet when I have it connected to my modem via Cat 5 Patch cable.When I detach the cable from the laptop and modem, it doesn't connect to the internet. I have a wgr614 V6 router, yes its old. I had 3 devices connected to it just fine before without any issues. But now It only allows my laptop, when I try to connect with my ipod touch or desktop, not only does it fail, the entire network crashes and my laptop loses it and its gone. It then takes about 2 minutes to come back up. So whenever I attempt to connect with another device the network crashes. so right now only my laptop is connected.I downloaded & updated to the newest firmware, did not work.I tried resetting the router, and made the network all over again, did NOT work.

I recently bought one RV180W and two WAP121 in order to make a wireless extension of a network.I configured RV180W as Router and the three of them have the same SSID and password.Also, I added in RV180W WDS configuration both MAC Addreses of WAP121's and in WAP121's WDS configuration the MAC Address of RV180W.Even I tried in WAP121's with and without encryption using the same WPA Key of the RV180W.
The thing is that is not working at all. They work great separately but right WAP121 can't stablish WDS link with RV180W neither do the left WAP121 with RV180W.I tested WDS configuration of WAP121's and they can see each other between them using standard WDS configuration, so I assume that WDS function of WAP121's works great.Finally I try the same config but setting RV180W in WDS Bridge and WDS Repeater without any different result.Do I have any chance to make the topology I showed up would work? How do I have to configure the RV180W and WAP121's?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have just purchased a Netgear WN3000RP wireless extender.The security setting on all devices on the existing network show as WPA2-PSK wireless n but the extender comes up as WPA-PSK wireless g although the instructions say it will copy existing security settings.There is supposed to be a Netgear website to log on to an installation wizard but this doesn't work and appears not to have worked for some months.Why are Netgear still selling this device without an installation disc when they must know by now that their site doesn't work?Is there any way to alter the security setting of the extender?

View 2 Replies View RelatedEarlier today I attempted to change the setting on my Westell 6100 modem such that it would simply bridge the connection to my Linksys WRT54GS router, basically involving setting the router to bridge only and turning DHCP off. Now I no longer get an internet connection through my router when previously the connection had worked perfectly fine before. I following the steps of cloning the MAC address to the router and have done the proper resetting steps (computer, them router, then modem) but I simply can't get an internet connection through my router. The process to set up simple bridging from the modem what supposed to end up with the internet light no longer turning on but the light turned back on following one of the resets.
Currently, I can connect to the internet through the modem just fine but I get nothing when I include the router. I'm not sure if there are some other settings I'm supposed to be changing as I can't seem to find anything past what I've already done when researching online. At this point I would just be happy reverting the settings I've changed but I don't know how to access the modem now that DHCP is off.Basically, I'd prefer to be able to get the router working with these new settings but if that proves too difficult (as I've heard it can be when trying to get Westell modems to work with Linksys routers) I'd like to learn how to access the modem and change the settings back to what they were (preferably in as simple terms as possible as I don't particularly understand what a lot of these settings/configurations do).(And a bit of an aside, but I had attempted to do this modem bridging to "fix" perceived internet speed problems. I've been averaging around 300Kbps download rates ever since I've had this internet connection from Verizon when the supposed download rates should be between 1MB and 1.3MB. Doing this modem bridging had been reported to fix some modem/router conflicts and improved connection speeds for some.)
