View 1 RepliesSo here's the setup, my apartment is right next to my parents' house (don't ask why) and they have a netgear WNR2000 router in their upstairs loft connected to a modem going to a local internet provider. My apartment is just far away enough so that I can barely get a signal, so I'm trying to set up a second wireless router (netgear WNR1000v2) in my apartment that will connect to the internet through the first router so I can get a better signal. I do have a way of running an Ethernet cable from the first router to the second in my apartment.

View 1 Replies View RelatedCurrently using a netgear WG602 wireless router which i use to connect to my 2nd PC and Iphone, with the Netgear router running from my main PC.I have recently been having trouble with my 2nd PC ad Iphone randomly losing connection and the only way for the connection to be reastablished is to reboot the wireless router. Once rebooted i am able to connect again to the internet with no problems, interestingly enough my main PC never loses connection. Also sometimes when i lose my connection and reboot the wireless router i will have a IP conflict pop up on my 2nd PC however i would i say i get this once in every 10 dissconects and not all the time. Sometimes i won't dissconect at all in a day but sometimes i may dissconect 5-6 times.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI just installed DD-WRT, version DD-WRT v24-sp2 (03/18/12) std, in a Netgear router model # WNR-2000V3 and so far everything is running good except for the LAN ports which are not working. I don't know what settings I have to change to get it working and I tried a lot of options from the DD-WRT site. I want this router to be an access point but it seems like I can't use the LAN ports at all whatsoever. Could it be that this firmware is no good? If so, is there a way to revert back to the factory NetGear firmware?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to use a Netgear WNR2000 router as a repeater, I have a Netgear WGR614v9 as the main router in my house. I have followed online guides as closely as possible but am still having troubles. My main router is working fine, everything can connect to it and gain access to internet despite having to change the security to WEP to allow for the repeater function to work. Now I am having troubles getting the repeater (WNR2000) to connect to my main router. The ip address of the repeater is listed in the connected devices of the main router and everything is managing to 'find' the repeater just fine but when I connect and put in the WEP key there is no internet connection. I read that a static ip address is needed or something like that but I am completely baffled

I recently purchased a Netgear WNR2000 to use as a router to connect to a Blue-Ray player to receive firmware updates wirelessly. On every attempt to access the netgear unit to set it up as a repeater, I get nowhere. I tried hooking the unit up to my laptop and login in under the admin account but again to no avail. I'm using Qwest internet with Actiontec PK5000, and I have to use my Netgear WNR2000v3 as a repeater. The Netgear is working as a repeater however I can't get internet through the LAN connections on the repeater. After checking the settings over and over again I'm beginning to think the repeater will only work with wifi. I have a connection, but I want to know if it's possible or advisable to configure everything from the Netgear router. But following the instructions here[URL], it seems I have to configure DNS and such using the Netopia router. I don't have a full grasp on how to use them together the correct way - like using the Netopia as an ethernet bridge.
View 4 Replies View RelatedToday a bought a brand new Netgear WNR2000 router.Upon setup the wifi was working correctly. All of the lights where active and it seemed everything was in order.Because the power cord was in the way I moved it and plugged it into a different powerpoint. From then onwards my router has not been working. Only three of seven lights are active (green).
I have tried unplugging and replugging all network cords. I have also turned it on and back off, reset the router and run the initial installation program thrice. What should I do now? Nothing so far has effected it. The computer I am installing it on is running Windows XP and the laptop I intend to use the wifi on is Windows 7.
Here is my setup:
Netgear WNR2000 router.
Macbook Pro with Snow Leopard connected to router through wireless.
Windows 7 Desktop getting internet through the MBP ethernet.
I can't figure out how to be a part of my "Home Network" with my Win7 Machine so I can see other computers in my house, use my networked printers, etc. I can only see the MBP it is connected to in network panel. I want to be able to stream the movies on this computer to my iPad which is connected to the wireless router.
I replaced a Netgear router with a similar Netgear router, but the LAN is no longer working. The old Netgear router would drop internet, but LAN would work. Replaced it, the new Netgear router works fine with the internet (cable modem), but the LAN with two computers will not work. The desktop with Windows XP, and a laptop with Windows 7. After runing network setups on both computers several times, I have been unable to reestablish the LAN, however internet access via the router is working. Reinstalled the old router and the LAN works fine, allowing file and printer sharing. Old router is a Netgear WGR614v2, new router is a Netgear WNR2000how to reconfigure the router/computers to get the LAN working again with new router.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've got an old netgear dg834g router and I want to set it up so that it connects wirelessly to the main router in the house (netgear dgn3300) in order to have wired connections from the old router to my pc and xbox 360 upstairs.
I think I need to change the setting on the old router so that it acts as a 'repeater with wireless client association' but on the most recent firmware this doesn't seem to be an option.
I've been trying to use this guide [URL] but it doesn't seem to work. Whenever I change the IP address of the old router it just breaks down and won't let me access the settings anymore.
I have a Cisco 881W and I would like to basically some how bridge the Cisco router to my netgear router. This is what I'm trying to achieve:
Cable Modem ----> Netgear Router ~~~~~ via wifi ~~~~> Cisco 881W ------> FastEthernet Ports
I've tried setting the Cisco 881W with station-role non-root with the SSID of my netgear router, but I get the error %DOT11-4-CANT_ASSOC: Interface Dot11Radio0, cannot associate: No Response whenever I try to bridge it.
Is bridging the Cisco router via wifi to the Netgear Router something that is not possible or is it an error on my part?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIf I have two Linksys wireless routers in my house, ( 1 Wireless-G as the Gateway attached to the DSL line, and attached to the main computer, and 1 Wireless-b model BEFW11S4v4 that I want to use as a bridge or as a repeater to send the wireless signal around the attic (2 floors away) and I have connected them via Ethernet, and then connected to the attic computer (not the main one) via Ethernet to Wireless-B, why can I not get connectivity on the attic computer?
If I forgo the Wireless-B router, and connect the ethernet to the attic computer everything is fine, but there is no wireless signal in the attic. (only downstairs where the Wireless-G is.) I believe I can access the Wireless-G and tell it to be a bridge or a repeter (?? I think) but as far as I can tell the Wireless-B is giving itself the same IP address as the Gateway Wireless-G is using, and I don't have an connectivity, so I can't change it! Im confused.

I have one pc connected to the WRT54G2 that gets 20Mbps and another connected to the WNR2000 thats only getting 5Mbps. I realized recently I have them connected to each other wrong. Or so I assume. I have the fourth port on the WRT54G2 connected to the internet port on the WNR2000 and it's set to "Automatic Configuration - DHCP" and "DHCP Server" is enabled. From what I read one or both of those is supposed to be set to manual.
