Setting Up Netgear WNR2000 Router As A Repeater?

Jul 4, 2011

I have a similar problem to thread with same name dated 31-Jul-2010-that is now closed. I'm using Qwest internet with Actiontec PK5000, and I have to use my Netgear WNR2000v3 as a repeater. The Netgear is working as a repeater however I can't get internet through the LAN connections on the repeater. After checking the settings over and over again I'm beginning to think the repeater will only work with wifi. I need to hook up my desktop in the office, DirectTV, and Blueray player LAN connections to my repeater.

Use Netgear WNR2000 Router As Repeater?

Jun 29, 2012

I'm trying to use a Netgear WNR2000 router as a repeater, I have a Netgear WGR614v9 as the main router in my house. I have followed online guides as closely as possible but am still having troubles. My main router is working fine, everything can connect to it and gain access to internet despite having to change the security to WEP to allow for the repeater function to work. Now I am having troubles getting the repeater (WNR2000) to connect to my main router. The ip address of the repeater is listed in the connected devices of the main router and everything is managing to 'find' the repeater just fine but when I connect and put in the WEP key there is no internet connection. I read that a static ip address is needed or something like that but I am completely baffled

Netgear WNR2000 As Repeater With Motorola SBG901?

Feb 17, 2011

I have a Motorola SBG901 router/gateway that is hooked to my desktop. I recently purchased a Netgear WNR2000 to use as a router to connect to a Blue-Ray player to receive firmware updates wirelessly. On every attempt to access the netgear unit to set it up as a repeater, I get nowhere. I tried hooking the unit up to my laptop and login in under the admin account but again to no avail. I really don't want to have to disconnect the SBG901.

Netgear WNR2000 Router Behind Netopia 2241N Configuration

May 25, 2012

Our ISP provided a DSL modem/router (Netopia) that I connected to the Netgear wireless router with dd-wrt flashed. All I've done so far is connected the two. I have a connection, but I want to know if it's possible or advisable to configure everything from the Netgear router. But following the instructions here[URL], it seems I have to configure DNS and such using the Netopia router. I don't have a full grasp on how to use them together the correct way - like using the Netopia as an ethernet bridge.

Netgear WNR2000 / Router Is Not Working - Only Three Of Seven Lights Are Active?

May 23, 2012

Today a bought a brand new Netgear WNR2000 router.Upon setup the wifi was working correctly. All of the lights where active and it seemed everything was in order.Because the power cord was in the way I moved it and plugged it into a different powerpoint. From then onwards my router has not been working. Only three of seven lights are active (green).

I have tried unplugging and replugging all network cords. I have also turned it on and back off, reset the router and run the initial installation program thrice. What should I do now? Nothing so far has effected it. The computer I am installing it on is running Windows XP and the laptop I intend to use the wifi on is Windows 7.

LAN Will Not Work With Replacement Router (Netgear WNR2000) / Internet Access OK

Dec 5, 2011

I replaced a Netgear router with a similar Netgear router, but the LAN is no longer working. The old Netgear router would drop internet, but LAN would work. Replaced it, the new Netgear router works fine with the internet (cable modem), but the LAN with two computers will not work. The desktop with Windows XP, and a laptop with Windows 7. After runing network setups on both computers several times, I have been unable to reestablish the LAN, however internet access via the router is working. Reinstalled the old router and the LAN works fine, allowing file and printer sharing. Old router is a Netgear WGR614v2, new router is a Netgear WNR2000how to reconfigure the router/computers to get the LAN working again with new router.

NetGear WNR2000 V3 DD WRT LAN Not Working?

Jan 14, 2013

I just installed DD-WRT, version DD-WRT v24-sp2 (03/18/12) std, in a Netgear router model # WNR-2000V3 and so far everything is running good except for the LAN ports which are not working. I don't know what settings I have to change to get it working and I tried a lot of options from the DD-WRT site. I want this router to be an access point but it seems like I can't use the LAN ports at all whatsoever. Could it be that this firmware is no good? If so, is there a way to revert back to the factory NetGear firmware?

WNR2000 - 2 Netgear Routers To One Modem?

Jun 9, 2011

So here's the setup, my apartment is right next to my parents' house (don't ask why) and they have a netgear WNR2000 router in their upstairs loft connected to a modem going to a local internet provider. My apartment is just far away enough so that I can barely get a signal, so I'm trying to set up a second wireless router (netgear WNR1000v2) in my apartment that will connect to the internet through the first router so I can get a better signal. I do have a way of running an Ethernet cable from the first router to the second in my apartment.

Setting Up Internet Connection Sharing With A Netgear N750 Router?

Feb 7, 2012

I live in an area that has no cable or dsl internet available. The only options are basic dial up or wireless internet through one of the cell phone companies.Right now I use verizon with a usb adapter.I have had this since moving here.It gets good speed and I share it witht the other 4 pcs in my house through a 5 port switch using windows xp's ics(internet connection sharing)We mainly use the internet for playing games together online.Recently though i have wanted to upgrade to a wireless network.I feel as if I 'm living in the stone age because everyone else I know is using wireless.Last night I went out and purchased a netgear n750 duel band router(model number wndr4000-100nas) after reading several guides online about how to set it up.It sounded easy enough but after 3 hours I still could not get it working.

Here is what I am trying to do.I want to basically turn the router into a switch by disabling it's routing function and let the pc that has the verizon wireless card be the host and hand out ip addresses to the other pcs.(like it is doing now)Problems I am having

1- keep getting the work offline popup when I click on anything in the router control panal(it say you are not connected to the internet would you like to connect or continue to work offline I hit work offline and it just pops up again when I click something else)

2- I think I found how to change the router's ip address and disable DHCP under lan controls but when I hit save it pops up saying I need to manually change my pc's ip address and it will not save.

I am using winxp32 sp3 and right now 5 gigabit wire lan cards.(though if I get this working I'm going to pick up wireless card for 4 of the pcs.)

Netgear N300 Router / Windows 7 - Setting Up Network Drive

Mar 23, 2013

I've setup a home network using Netgear N300 wireless router (using Windows 7).

I'm trying to get one of my hard drives to be available on the network, so I went to the "sharing" tab of the HD's properties setting and allowed sharing on the HD and turned off password protection so that you don't need a password to access the HD.I also set the permissions to give full control, change, and read access to the "Everyone" group.

From another computer in the network, I tried connecting to the network HD but ultimately got "Access denied" despite the fact that I gave full control to "Everyone".How do I get the computer to be able to connect to the shared HD?

Netgear DGN2000 - Repeater Will Not See NAS?

Aug 29, 2011

I have a Netgear DGN2000 which I use as my main router/modem. This is ADSL and works perfectly.I have added a Belkin F5Z0102 UK G Wireless ADSL Modem Router as a wireless range extender. It is connected to the Netgear via homeplug and works fine for connecting to the internet on all my gadgetry (ie internet radio, netbooks and mobile phone) via wireless and wired. My problem is when the internet radio and music player on my phone try to connect to the NAS, connected via ethernet cable to the Netgear router.I can connect to the NAS via it's IP address directly but it will not be recognised by the software on the radio or phone. However,if I connect to the Netgear router (first), it recognises it straight away.

To allow access, do I need to change the settings of the router to point to the other router in any particular way?I have specified the second router as 192.168.0.2 and this points back to the Netgear router in the settings. The SSID is different to the first because if I put it as the same, the router gets confused and I lose all connectivity. I have also disabled the DHCP settings ont he second router. Forgot to mention that it is set up as a 1483 Bridge.

Cisco Wireless :: Setting Up Another WAP4410N As Repeater?

Currently I have a WAP4410N setup and would like to add a second WAP4410N but as wireless repeater. I want my users to have wireless access without the need to keep changing the wireless connection based on their location within the factory.

The AP Mode on teh WAP4410N gives me the options below, but I am not sure which one is the correct one:

Option 1 - Wireless WDS Repeater
Option 2 - Wireless Client/Repeater

Below is the link from cisco with explanation. [URL]

Also, if have WAP54G, can I setup this unit to be a wireless repeater with the WAP4410N devices? or all repeaters must be of the same model? Existing WAP4410 is setup to operate at Wireless B/G Mixed mode.

Cisco Wireless :: Setting Up WAP4410n As Repeater

Apr 20, 2011

I need setting up a WAP4410n v 2.0.1.0 as a repeater. Warning, this is the first time I have worked with a repeater. I have tested with a netgear router and a Linksys 160n router. Unfortunately I only have the netgear to continue testing with since the Linksys is at my customer’s site. I can get my hands on a Linksys E3200 if I have to. I have tried a number of setting combinations and I still cannot get the signal to be repeated.  So this is what I think the setup should be:I setup the router and the WAP4410n repeater to have the same ssid and channel. For security I first tried to have both the router and the repeater to use WPA2 personal using TKIP then I read that there is a problem using WPA2 with version 2 of the firmware so I then tried using WEP having both the router and repeater using the same key. I selected Wireless WDS repeater mode. I did a site survey and selected my router. Now from what I understand, which is very little, this is all I should really need to do. I have left all of the other settings to the default values. So what am I missing?
