Netgear DGN2000 - Repeater Will Not See NAS?
Aug 29, 2011I have a Netgear DGN2000 which I use as my main router/modem. This is ADSL and works perfectly.I have added a Belkin F5Z0102 UK G Wireless ADSL Modem Router as a wireless range extender.It is connected to the Netgear via homeplug and works fine for connecting to the internet on all my gadgetry (ie internet radio, netbooks and mobile phone) via wireless and wired.My problem is when the internet radio and music player on my phone try to connect to the NAS, connected via ethernet cable to the Netgear router.I can connect to the NAS via it's IP address directly but it will not be recognised by the software on the radio or phone.However,if I connect to the Netgear router (first), it recognises it straight away.
To allow access, do I need to change the settings of the router to point to the other router in any particular way?I have specified the second router as 192.168.0.2 and this points back to the Netgear router in the settings. The SSID is different to the first because if I put it as the same, the router gets confused and I lose all connectivity. I have also disabled the DHCP settings ont he second router. Forgot to mention that it is set up as a 1483 Bridge.

Jun 29, 2012I'm trying to use a Netgear WNR2000 router as a repeater, I have a Netgear WGR614v9 as the main router in my house. I have followed online guides as closely as possible but am still having troubles. My main router is working fine, everything can connect to it and gain access to internet despite having to change the security to WEP to allow for the repeater function to work. Now I am having troubles getting the repeater (WNR2000) to connect to my main router. The ip address of the repeater is listed in the connected devices of the main router and everything is managing to 'find' the repeater just fine but when I connect and put in the WEP key there is no internet connection. I read that a static ip address is needed or something like that but I am completely baffled

I'm using Qwest internet with Actiontec PK5000, and I have to use my Netgear WNR2000v3 as a repeater.The Netgear is working as a repeater however I can't get internet through the LAN connections on the repeater. After checking the settings over and over again I'm beginning to think the repeater will only work with wifi. Sometimes I get a speedtest of 18 ping and 7 mbps DL to a nearby server, and 10 seconds later it's 300 ping and 2 mbps. There are no problems when using the primary access point without the repeater. Where should I start in troubleshooting? I can't see why there would be such terrible consistency since much of the time the signal strength is fine. It's purely a problem of dropping the connection often.

I read that the DD-WRT firmware offered a repeater bridge function, so I successfully flashed the 615 C1 with the latest release 7/12.
I get all of the configuration steps, and even have set up client bridge mode. My problem is when I bring down the list of available wireless modes, repeater bridge isn't on the list.
Is the C1 version not able to do this? is there something else I need to do to enable a repeater bridge?

Nov 29, 2011Trying to setup a repeater down stairs for better wifi signal but am running into a problem. The main router I use for my network is a Linksys WRT54GL. The router I'm trying to hook up as a repeater is a Asus RT-N10+. The issue I'm running into is that they both use the same IP address for the web gui so when I try to configure the Asus it goes straight to my Linksys instead.
I tried to disconnect the Linksys in order to get the Asus going in repeater mode but didn't work. What I'm wanting to do is change the router IP address on the Asus so I can have both of them online at the same time to get the Asus going as a repeater. I tried to change the Asus IP but when I did it asked me something along the lines of whether I wanted to change the DHCP address being it didn't match what I had typed in as the router IP.

I also have purchased 2 repeaters (ampedwireless.com) and installed 1. Recognizing that it appears to have created a different network, so this isn't what I want to do. Then I went back and purchased 2 access points. I need to have an "hardware solution" in my theater (basement) as well as in my bedroom (3rd floor).
