View 4 RepliesJust recently I got a small block of Static IPs from my ISP with the intent of setting up small personal servers like for mail, cloud storage etc... using a couple of the Arm based Raspberry Pi. i have is i can i run my Pi servers off my router, which is bridged to the main (ISP) router, or would i have to attach them to the main to take advantage of the static IPs/set them up?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have just been escalated to Level 3 support about my bridging issues.Bridge / Repeater mode configuration separated by 150 feet. Worked perfect for over 3 months.Upgraded firmware due to lockups starting to happen, now cant get the bridge / repeater to work longer than 15 min. After MANY support calls, new devices sent (version 2's) still no luck.
Talked to Marcelo at1 866 606 1866 and he stated that the Bridge / Repeater mode will not be supported farther than 50 Feet.(seems like a cop out to me) He didn't seem to have an answer as to why it worked for 3 Months other than interference Of which I have ran spectrum analyzers and see no Interference. **** even 10 feet away I cant get the units to work longer than 15 min.So I definitely think the 50 foot thing is a BS answer.
Also they have told me that External Antennas are not supported with these devices.Again even though People 500 feet away connect just perfect (without a bridge / repeater mode) with 50% coverage!
so here I am (spent 600 bucks) on bricks.. and nobody will support the device and I cant seem to get my money back.I have 8 customers with these devices, I am not going to use Cisco any longer. However will continue to fight this,as we all seem to have the same BS issues.
I am having a bit of trouble. I have a Belkin router (this is irrelevant) across the house, which is extended by the Belkin wireless bridge/repeater in my bedroom. The device in my room boosts my WiFi signal for my MacBook and iPhone, and the LAN (ethernet) port on the back allows my Debian server to connect to the network and internet. I have a Linksys switch that I wish to use, for I have another computer that requires an ethernet connection. Here is what happened:Debian 1 is connected via ethernet, no problem.I shut it down, unplug cable. Run cable from bridge to switch's uplink.Plug another ethernet cable into port one on switch, run it to Debian 1.
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust bought a new router and repeater for a wifi hotspot i am currently running.. I thought i was havng problems with the repeater after i change from router to a server, (and i'm now using a router in bridge mode) so the server is managing all the dhcp.. etc, Hence, the router is Running as an access point. The server which is a Hotspot Server does the rest. For some reason, repeaters, do connect to the access point apparently, but when connecting the client to the repeater (instead of access point) I can't get internet access. although i do get access to the repeater setup.and access point setup too.. or if that is the fact that repeaters must be connected to a router, not access point? should I use it as a WDS? or AP-wds? I have a Cisco Lynksys e1200 router (which i'm using as access point) and an Encore ENXWI-1AN45 3 in one range extender?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently bought one RV180W and two WAP121 in order to make a wireless extension of a network.I configured RV180W as Router and the three of them have the same SSID and password. Also, I added in RV180W WDS configuration both MAC Addreses of WAP121's and in WAP121's WDS configuration the MAC Address of RV180W.Even I tried in WAP121's with and without encryption using the same WPA Key of the RV180W.
The thing is that is not working at all. They work great separately but right WAP121 can't stablish WDS link with RV180W neither do the left WAP121 with RV180W.I tested WDS configuration of WAP121's and they can see each other between them using standard WDS configuration, so I assume that WDS function of WAP121's works great. Finally I try the same config but setting RV180W in WDS Bridge and WDS Repeater without any different result.Do I have any chance to make the topology I showed up would work? How do I have to configure the RV180W and WAP121's?
If I have two Linksys wireless routers in my house, ( 1 Wireless-G as the Gateway attached to the DSL line, and attached to the main computer, and 1 Wireless-b model BEFW11S4v4 that I want to use as a bridge or as a repeater to send the wireless signal around the attic (2 floors away) and I have connected them via Ethernet, and then connected to the attic computer (not the main one) via Ethernet to Wireless-B, why can I not get connectivity on the attic computer?
If I forgo the Wireless-B router, and connect the ethernet to the attic computer everything is fine, but there is no wireless signal in the attic. (only downstairs where the Wireless-G is.) I believe I can access the Wireless-G and tell it to be a bridge or a repeter (?? I think) but as far as I can tell the Wireless-B is giving itself the same IP address as the Gateway Wireless-G is using, and I don't have an connectivity, so I can't change it! Im confused.
Who knows the best version (DD-WRT or other) to repeat the wireless signal with a E3000?At worst, a client bridge mode could be sufficient for my needs...

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a fairly large area to cover with wireless, and set up a second router to act as a repeater. The signal works great, other than being extremely inconsistent. Sometimes I get a speedtest of 18 ping and 7 mbps DL to a nearby server, and 10 seconds later it's 300 ping and 2 mbps. There are no problems when using the primary access point without the repeater. Where should I start in troubleshooting? I can't see why there would be such terrible consistency since much of the time the signal strength is fine. It's purely a problem of dropping the connection often.

I have a Netgear DGN2000 which I use as my main router/modem. This is ADSL and works perfectly.I have added a Belkin F5Z0102 UK G Wireless ADSL Modem Router as a wireless range extender. It is connected to the Netgear via homeplug and works fine for connecting to the internet on all my gadgetry (ie internet radio, netbooks and mobile phone) via wireless and wired. My problem is when the internet radio and music player on my phone try to connect to the NAS, connected via ethernet cable to the Netgear router.I can connect to the NAS via it's IP address directly but it will not be recognised by the software on the radio or phone. However,if I connect to the Netgear router (first), it recognises it straight away.
To allow access, do I need to change the settings of the router to point to the other router in any particular way?I have specified the second router as 192.168.0.2 and this points back to the Netgear router in the settings. The SSID is different to the first because if I put it as the same, the router gets confused and I lose all connectivity. I have also disabled the DHCP settings ont he second router. Forgot to mention that it is set up as a 1483 Bridge.

I read that the DD-WRT firmware offered a repeater bridge function, so I successfully flashed the 615 C1 with the latest release 7/12.
I get all of the configuration steps, and even have set up client bridge mode. My problem is when I bring down the list of available wireless modes, repeater bridge isn't on the list.
Is the C1 version not able to do this? is there something else I need to do to enable a repeater bridge?

View 2 Replies View RelatedTrying to setup a repeater down stairs for better wifi signal but am running into a problem. The main router I use for my network is a Linksys WRT54GL. The router I'm trying to hook up as a repeater is a Asus RT-N10+. The issue I'm running into is that they both use the same IP address for the web gui so when I try to configure the Asus it goes straight to my Linksys instead.
I tried to disconnect the Linksys in order to get the Asus going in repeater mode but didn't work. What I'm wanting to do is change the router IP address on the Asus so I can have both of them online at the same time to get the Asus going as a repeater. I tried to change the Asus IP but when I did it asked me something along the lines of whether I wanted to change the DHCP address being it didn't match what I had typed in as the router IP.
