TP-LINK (TL-WR541G / TL-WA500G) Repeater Not Connecting?
Dec 31, 2011My setup consists of the following: TP-LINK Router Model No. TL-WR541G and TP-LINK Wireless Repeater Model No. TL-WA500G.I've set the Wireless Mode Settings to Universal Repeater and turned on MAC filtering. My problem is that when I connect to the wireless repeater with a phone or tablet (both working on android) it just wont connect. It gets stuck on "obtaining ip address". The wireless repeater works fine with any laptop, pc, netbook etc. I made sure that all the MAC Addresses are entered correctly. Also the phone and tablet connect fine to the router, but when the router is out of range and it tries to connect to the repeater it doesnt work. I tried all the basic troubleshooting techniques i.e. turning off wifi, turning off repeater & router.

Jun 24, 2011I am having a bit of trouble. I have a Belkin router (this is irrelevant) across the house, which is extended by the Belkin wireless bridge/repeater in my bedroom. The device in my room boosts my WiFi signal for my MacBook and iPhone, and the LAN (ethernet) port on the back allows my Debian server to connect to the network and internet. I have a Linksys switch that I wish to use, for I have another computer that requires an ethernet connection. Here is what happened:Debian 1 is connected via ethernet, no problem.I shut it down, unplug cable. Run cable from bridge to switch's uplink.Plug another ethernet cable into port one on switch, run it to Debian 1.

Dec 20, 2012Just bought a new router and repeater for a wifi hotspot i am currently running.. I thought i was havng problems with the repeater after i change from router to a server, (and i'm now using a router in bridge mode) so the server is managing all the dhcp.. etc, Hence, the router is Running as an access point. The server which is a Hotspot Server does the rest. For some reason, repeaters, do connect to the access point apparently, but when connecting the client to the repeater (instead of access point) I can't get internet access. although i do get access to the repeater setup.and access point setup too.. or if that is the fact that repeaters must be connected to a router, not access point? should I use it as a WDS? or AP-wds? I have a Cisco Lynksys e1200 router (which i'm using as access point) and an Encore ENXWI-1AN45 3 in one range extender?

Oct 21, 2012I have just moved into a new apartment that has a free wifi connection the problem is that my apartment is in the basement at the completly opposite side of the office and i cant get a strong enough signal to connect to the internet and im not very good with computers. the first time i tride setting up the repeater i was able to connect everything and get online but it had changed the ssid and when i tride to change it bacck to its origanil name i lost my internet connection and have not been able to get access the internet again.

Apr 27, 2012I managed to flash my router (Belkin Sharemax N300) to dd-wrt and set it up as a repeater using these steps in the wiki, but I can't access the internet via the repeater. I can still connect to it, though. I don't know that much about networking.

Jun 14, 2011I have a newer N Router (Dlink DIR-655) and the wireless signal coming off of it, just isn't strong enough. I was planning on using the WTF54GL to repeat the signal and inturn increase the coverage area. I've installed the latest version of Tomato on there (v1.28) and have gone through setting it up as a wireless client, wireless ethernet bridge (which works for picking up the wireless signal and then plugging something in via ethernet has internet), access point, access point + wds and just wds. None of which I can get to seem to properly repeat the wireless signal with internet connectivity. I have both routers set to G only channel 6, WPA Personal, Is this even possible? Or do I need a router that can run the tomato firmware on the main (host) router that is connected to the net?

Dec 20, 2010I am trying to setup an E3000 router and extending the network with a WAP4410N acting as a repeater.
I am faced with the same problem and it looks like it all comes down to this: without the WAP4410N having a physical connection to the LAN, it will not connect to the E3000 as a wireless client whether it's configured in AP mode: WDS Repeater or in client/repeater.
I've tested with various permutations that have been explored in the various discussions: matching channels/bandsmatching and non-matching SSIDs matching security settings using site survey to set the mac address of the E3000 (ensuring it's the MAC of the 2.4Ghz wireless)setting a static IP on the WAP4410Nensuring both devices are on the same subnet. Any way to be truly successful with this pair up of E3000 & WAP4410N or is it simply a technical product limitation?

We recently opted to go with new web based software that neccesitates a high speed internet connection, and 12 wireless devices across the building. We signed a contract with Comcast Business Class internet, so that in the event of an external failure with one ISP, we would have the other offer redundancy with the new wireless router.It has now become clear that our nurses that are on the Comcast wireless network, now need to print from their wireless devices regularly. At the time this is obviously not possible, because the network printers are only on our backoffice network. Buying a wireless inkjet printer is out of the question. How can I make this happen? All of the printers have a local static IP on our backoffice network (Verizon). I have heard of software that will essentially send the print job to another computer, which would relay the print job to the designated printer.

Apr 25, 2011Recently the home wireless network was upgraded to 802.11n with WPA2-PSK security. There are currently 3 laptops successfully connected and running the internet.
I have a desktop computer that recently had the NIC card upgraded because beforehand no connections were being recognised. Now there are connections being recognised but when I go to connect to the home network (Which has full signal) it begins to connect, it says "Waiting for Network" then after 2 or 3 minutes it just stops, no error message or anything. Ive also tried moving the tower closer to the router but this also does not work, it begins to connect to the network and then stops and says "Unable to connect to wireless network".
Another thing that might be of use, I am unable to access "ipconfig" in the terminal, I type "ipconfig" in run, then the terminal will pop up and close instantly.

They are all connected to the network fine but one of them gets cut off from the internet sometimes and starts back up randomly. I changed to different ports on the switch same issue I didnt have the time to fully check it but Im gonna go back tomorrow my best guess is that its the wire but any other possibilities that may cause this I would like to know before I go if at all possible.
