Run Server From Repeater / Bridge Router?
Feb 3, 2013
Just recently I got a small block of Static IPs from my ISP with the intent of setting up small personal servers like for mail, cloud storage etc... using a couple of the Arm based Raspberry Pi. i have is i can i run my Pi servers off my router, which is bridged to the main (ISP) router, or would i have to attach them to the main to take advantage of the static IPs/set them up?

Just bought a new router and repeater for a wifi hotspot i am currently running.. I thought i was havng problems with the repeater after i change from router to a server, (and i'm now using a router in bridge mode) so the server is managing all the dhcp.. etc, Hence, the router is Running as an access point. The server which is a Hotspot Server does the rest. For some reason, repeaters, do connect to the access point apparently, but when connecting the client to the repeater (instead of access point) I can't get internet access. although i do get access to the repeater setup.and access point setup too.. or if that is the fact that repeaters must be connected to a router, not access point? should I use it as a WDS? or AP-wds? I have a Cisco Lynksys e1200 router (which i'm using as access point) and an Encore ENXWI-1AN45 3 in one range extender?

I have just been escalated to Level 3 support about my bridging issues.Bridge / Repeater mode configuration separated by 150 feet. Worked perfect for over 3 months.Upgraded firmware due to lockups starting to happen, now cant get the bridge / repeater to work longer than 15 min. After MANY support calls, new devices sent (version 2's) still no luck.
Talked to Marcelo at1 866 606 1866 and he stated that the Bridge / Repeater mode will not be supported farther than 50 Feet.(seems like a cop out to me) He didn't seem to have an answer as to why it worked for 3 Months other than interference Of which I have ran spectrum analyzers and see no Interference. **** even 10 feet away I cant get the units to work longer than 15 min.So I definitely think the 50 foot thing is a BS answer.
Also they have told me that External Antennas are not supported with these devices.Again even though People 500 feet away connect just perfect (without a bridge / repeater mode) with 50% coverage!
so here I am (spent 600 bucks) on bricks.. and nobody will support the device and I cant seem to get my money back.I have 8 customers with these devices, I am not going to use Cisco any longer. However will continue to fight this,as we all seem to have the same BS issues.

I am having a bit of trouble. I have a Belkin router (this is irrelevant) across the house, which is extended by the Belkin wireless bridge/repeater in my bedroom. The device in my room boosts my WiFi signal for my MacBook and iPhone, and the LAN (ethernet) port on the back allows my Debian server to connect to the network and internet. I have a Linksys switch that I wish to use, for I have another computer that requires an ethernet connection. Here is what happened:Debian 1 is connected via ethernet, no problem.I shut it down, unplug cable. Run cable from bridge to switch's uplink.Plug another ethernet cable into port one on switch, run it to Debian 1.

I recently bought one RV180W and two WAP121 in order to make a wireless extension of a network.I configured RV180W as Router and the three of them have the same SSID and password. Also, I added in RV180W WDS configuration both MAC Addreses of WAP121's and in WAP121's WDS configuration the MAC Address of RV180W.Even I tried in WAP121's with and without encryption using the same WPA Key of the RV180W.
The thing is that is not working at all. They work great separately but right WAP121 can't stablish WDS link with RV180W neither do the left WAP121 with RV180W.I tested WDS configuration of WAP121's and they can see each other between them using standard WDS configuration, so I assume that WDS function of WAP121's works great. Finally I try the same config but setting RV180W in WDS Bridge and WDS Repeater without any different result.Do I have any chance to make the topology I showed up would work? How do I have to configure the RV180W and WAP121's?

If I have two Linksys wireless routers in my house, ( 1 Wireless-G as the Gateway attached to the DSL line, and attached to the main computer, and 1 Wireless-b model BEFW11S4v4 that I want to use as a bridge or as a repeater to send the wireless signal around the attic (2 floors away) and I have connected them via Ethernet, and then connected to the attic computer (not the main one) via Ethernet to Wireless-B, why can I not get connectivity on the attic computer?
If I forgo the Wireless-B router, and connect the ethernet to the attic computer everything is fine, but there is no wireless signal in the attic. (only downstairs where the Wireless-G is.) I believe I can access the Wireless-G and tell it to be a bridge or a repeter (?? I think) but as far as I can tell the Wireless-B is giving itself the same IP address as the Gateway Wireless-G is using, and I don't have an connectivity, so I can't change it! Im confused.

i want to make my minecraft and gmod servers permanent so i got stupid and built a low powered server out of an old athlon media pc i had laying around. anyways my current setup i have going is my main router is in the basement and i have a dd-wrt d-link repeater in my room. ok so i gave the repeater a static ip of 192.168.1.56, and gave my server a static ip of 192.168.69.25 (i made the ip of the repeater 192.168.69.1) i forwarded all the necessary ports to the static ip of the repeater then to the static ip of the server. but my servers wont work. on minecraft it says "end of stream" but if i look at the active server log on the server it says "myipaddress has lost connection" and on gmod i just cant connect or see my server at all.

[URL] It works wirelessly, but I'm trying to get it to work physically. The end goal is to have my old PC as a server on the other side of the house, connected to nothing but the second router and a power cord. I know I could do this easily just by running an Ethernet cord across the house and skip using the second router altogether, but I'd really rather not.

I recently bought a new D-Link DIR 615 but I dont get adequate range in the rooms farthest away from the router. I have an old D-Link DIR 634M router which I'm told can be used as a wireless repeater. I went through several articles that describe connecting the two routers through a LAN cable. However is there a way to do the same without using a cable of any sorts?

I'm trying to use a Netgear WNR2000 router as a repeater, I have a Netgear WGR614v9 as the main router in my house. I have followed online guides as closely as possible but am still having troubles. My main router is working fine, everything can connect to it and gain access to internet despite having to change the security to WEP to allow for the repeater function to work. Now I am having troubles getting the repeater (WNR2000) to connect to my main router. The ip address of the repeater is listed in the connected devices of the main router and everything is managing to 'find' the repeater just fine but when I connect and put in the WEP key there is no internet connection. I read that a static ip address is needed or something like that but I am completely baffled

I have the Asus RT-N12 and at my old apartment it was set as my router. I now have moved and have roommates who already have a router in use. I want to use the repeater function of this router but when I follow the instructions given by asus I hit a wall. They say to switch to repeater mode, plug it into a client on the network, and then launch quick installation setup by opening an internet browser. Unfortunately when I use a wired connection to the old router I cannot even navigate the internet because my computer is interpreting it as being hard wired to the router for my old network. is there a way to factory reset the monitor?

I am trying to use a NETGEAR 54Mbps Wireless ADSL2+ Modem Router (Model DG834G v4) as a repeater to extend the WiFi I currently have off another NETGEAR router in my house to my office which is a seperate building in my backyard (75 feet away depending on where I place my router exactly).I've scoured the vast internet for specifics with this particular router. I am fairly well versed in computer-type verbage and usage, but networking is an alien language to me.

I have a similar problem to thread with same name dated 31-Jul-2010-that is now closed. I'm using Qwest internet with Actiontec PK5000, and I have to use my Netgear WNR2000v3 as a repeater. The Netgear is working as a repeater however I can't get internet through the LAN connections on the repeater. After checking the settings over and over again I'm beginning to think the repeater will only work with wifi. I need to hook up my desktop in the office, DirectTV, and Blueray player LAN connections to my repeater.
