I am using a PPPoE connection using a linksys WRT54G router (working perfectly) and am now trying to set up an Edimax EW-7206APg to extend my wireless connection range. I followed the instructions given on the Edimax manual, and while my devices (iPad, laptop) got connected to the new repeater network, I could not access the Internet from it. I may be wrong, but the instructions on the Edimax manual seemed to be for a DHCP connection. Is there anything different I need to do to configure the Edimax repeater on a PPPoE connection? My router IP ("Local IP address") shows 10.10.0.1 instead of the "192.168.1.1" that all the documentation online seems to suggest.

I have an E2500 wireless N router that I recently bought to replace a cheapie netgear that I lent to family. The router is in the basement near a bunch of metal ducting and I live near a radio station, both of which I believe is killing my signal. Anyways, I was able to pick up a WAP54G wireless access point. I would like to use it as a wired repeater (hopefully to get the signal up into the upper levels of my house). Can I use the WAP54G with the E2500? I looked in the setup page when I was trying to set it up as a repeater, and it says it will only connect with another WAP54G or a WRT54G (linksys wireless g router).

I have EA4500 router that connects a couple of desktops in one room. I am having to setup another room for gaming for which I have another EA4500 router. I want to setup the second EA4500 uplink(accesspoint) as the first EA4500. I dont find any interface to do it. I am able to do it wired(by connecting the both the routers through LAN ports). but I dont want to run cable across the house. know if it is possible with another firmware. Or should I return this new EA4500 and buy another router?

My wife just was using our 4200N router fine this morning. I went to try and use the internet and it was not working. I can connect my PC directly to the modem and works fine as I am typing on it now.
I upgraded to the latest firmware to see if that would fix it but it does not.
From what I can see, no matter how hard it tries, it won't grab an IPV4 or 6 IP address from my cable company. I am thinking the router just went bad on that side of the router. I hate paying for shipping back and forth when this router should of lasted as long as my old linksys that I have now and am using as a access repeater.

We have a wireless network and would like to extend the range for it and I was told that a E2000 could be setup to extend the range. If we say that our existing wireless network has the SSID network1, can the E2000 be setup so that it is connected to a LAN socket and then wok as a wireless runter with the same SSID (network1) so that pc's can connect easily ?Or must the two wireless routers be connected with a dedicated cable ?Or must I setup the new E2000 up as a new wireless network with a new SSID like network2 ?

I have just installed an E2000 router in an upstairs office. The signal strength is quite low downstairs so my question is: Can I use a wap54g as a repeater. If so, how do I get the MAC address of the E2000?. The E2000 has two bands and is currently running at 2.4. Would the range increase if I changed the setting to 5.

I have an SMCD3GN which I put into bridge mode a while ago and used it as a modem alongside my Linksys WRT54G router. But the SMC is capable of Wireless N, while the Linksys is only capable of wireless G.So I want to turn my SMC into a router + modem again, but I can't figure out how to do it. I tried resetting to factory defaults by holding the reset button at the back of the unit for 30 seconds but it didn't work.I can get it to work with a wired connection, but when I type ipconfig /all into CMD, it doesn't show any default gateway, so I can't access the router online. I've tried various different IPs like 192.168.1.1, 192.168.0.1, etc., but none of them work.

I have a Linksys E1000 as my primary router. All I want to do is be able to to put the Secondary router (WRT54G) downstairs near the bluray player and run an ethernet cable from the lan port on the router to the ethernet port on the bluray player to get internet access. What is the best way to do this? Client bridge or Client mode?

I had an issue yesterday with no internet access on my desktop computer; the message said "Network cable unplugged" so I called AT&T tech support for assistance. I have 2 Dell computers; a desktop and a laptop which I use wirelessly in the house. After doing several things from disconnecting the router to try and determine if the problem was with my router or an ethernet cable AT&T determined a port on my router which is 6 years old could be going bad and recommended I replace my router.I contacted Linksys yesterday; spoke to tech support for my WRT54G router and was given 2 model recommendations. One was a Model E900 N300 and a more expensive model; an EA2700 N600. There is a price difference of $40.00 USD between the 2 models. I could probably get by with the E900 N300 for $49.99 but the guy at Linksys was putting the pressure on me to buy the more expensive one for $89.99. I told him I'd have to think about it.
