Linksys Wireless Router :: Configure E2500 As Router And WAP54G As Repeater?

Dec 28, 2012

Is it possible to configure a E2500 as router and WAP54G as a repeater? I used to have a WRT54GS as router but it has broken and now I bought a E2500 to replace it.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Using A WAP54G As A Repeater For E2500?

Aug 15, 2012

I have an E2500 wireless N router that I recently bought to replace a cheapie netgear that I lent to family.  The router is in the basement near a bunch of metal ducting and I live near a radio station, both of which I believe is killing my signal.  Anyways, I was able to pick up a WAP54G wireless access point.  I would like to use it as a wired repeater (hopefully to get the signal up into the upper levels of my house).  Can I use the WAP54G with the E2500?  I looked in the setup page when I was trying to set it up as a repeater, and it says it will only connect with another WAP54G or a WRT54G (linksys wireless g router).

Linksys Wireless Router :: WAP54g Repeater Connecting To E2000?

Nov 3, 2011

I have just installed an E2000 router in an upstairs office. The signal strength is quite low downstairs so my question is: Can I use a wap54g as a repeater. If so, how do I get the MAC address of the E2000?. The E2000 has two bands and is currently running at 2.4. Would the range increase if I changed the setting to 5.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2500 - Configure Multiple SSID's?

Aug 15, 2012

I just bought a Linksys E2500, and I'm trying to configure multiple SSID's on it. The "guest mode" won't work for me because I want one SSID to use WPA and the other to use WEP, but the option to set different encryption based on the GHz frequency of the connection won't work for me because I only want the WEP one to be used by my Nintendo DS (which doesn't support WPA); I don't want to force ALL devices that don't support 5GHz to use the WEP one!

Linksys Wireless Router :: How To Configure E2500 In Wired Bridge Mode

Jan 25, 2012

My client has a DSL modem and a Belkin wired 4-port router configured to connect to it using PPPoE.  Apparently there is no way to configure the E2500 such that it may be dropped in as a direct replacement for the Belkin (which would also provide wireless access) without the PPPoE login/password (from the DSL provider, Verizon).

I would like to connect the "Internet" port of the E2500 to one of the Belkin's 4 ports, in order to use the E2500 for wireless internet access without using any of the 4 wired ports but I think this creates a NAT within an existing NAT network?

To avoid that if I configure the E2500 in wired bridge mode, it becomes transparent, and I can no longer access its administration interface using the address 192.168.1.1 (since that address belongs to the Belkin).  How may I, for example, change the wireless password which the E2500 is in wired bridge mode?

Linksys WRT54G Router / Configure A Repeater For A PPPoE Connection?

May 3, 2011

I am using a PPPoE connection using a linksys WRT54G router (working perfectly) and am now trying to set up an Edimax EW-7206APg to extend my wireless connection range. I followed the instructions given on the Edimax manual, and while my devices (iPad, laptop) got connected to the new repeater network, I could not access the Internet from it. I may be wrong, but the instructions on the Edimax manual seemed to be for a DHCP connection. Is there anything different I need to do to configure the Edimax repeater on a PPPoE connection?My router IP ("Local IP address") shows 10.10.0.1 instead of the "192.168.1.1" that all the documentation online seems to suggest.

Linksys Access Point :: WAP54G To Use This AP As A Repeater

Mar 7, 2011

I have a WAP54G as my access point, currently it is connected with my BEFSR81 router. I am thinking of changing the access point to a WAP610N for the house. I know that this would work but I was wondering if the WAP54G could be used as a repeater for the outside (I know a lower speed). I know they are two different channels but I wanted a larger range for my wireless. I am on Windows XP, SP2, using Firefox. Can this be done?

Linksys Access Point :: Wrt54gx2 With Srx 200 - Configure WAP54G With A MAC?

Jan 8, 2007

I have a wrt54gx2 with srx 200 technology recently purchased. I havetwo cabled computers attached. One at one end of the house attached tothe router by ehternet cable, the other attached about 100 ft by ethernet cable.The wireless does not reach to the other end of the house, most likley because that part of the house is an addition with masonary walls and a large masonary firplace. I bought a wap54g access point at the recommendation from someone at linksys to attach to the end of the ethernet run. Since my set up is macintosh, I can't use the wizard disk that came with the wap54g. Linksys support was not support( not expected), I need to know what to do to get this up and running. I am new to this stuff and Linksys get the wireless router with ethernet installed and up and running with my dsl. I thought the same for the wap54g.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Getting WAP54g To Repeat (extend) Signals

May 15, 2013

At one of our offices, we have a Cisco ASA5505 firewall that has dhcp enabled. I have a WRT54G router plugged into that firewall with DHCP enabled. The scope of our inside network is 192.168.51.***, however when connected to the WRT54G, it gives you the scope of 192.168.1.***We have an antenna amplifier screwed into one of the antenna ports on the router. This whole setup works fine.

 The problem is we need to install an access point WAP54G in a building across the property (picks up router wireless signal fine) to repeat the wireless signal to the back of the property where the router will not reach. I have read that all you need to do is type in the wireless mac address of the routher into the access point and select "Wireless Repeater". I have the channels set to 6 on both devices as well as the same security configuration. When I try to connect to the wireless network on the access point, It never gives me an ip in the 192.168.1.*** scope, which the WRT54G is configured to give out. Also, in this setup does the WRT54G need to be set to router or gateway mode? I do not need it to distribute ip addresses. [code]

Linksys Wireless Router :: Wrt54gs V7 And A Wap54g V3.1 - Unable To Get IP Address From Access Point

Mar 1, 2012

I have a wrt54gs v7 and a wap54g v3.1.  Both have latest firmware on them.  I set the access point to act as a repeater and entered the mac address from the router (It said to use the lan mac address.  is that right?).  I have them set on same subnet with static ip addresses.  They have same wireless ssid and password with one using channel 10 and the other using channel 2.  I can receive an ip address from the router and connect to internet.  I cannot get an ip address from the access point.  I tried a static ip on the computer and it will connect, but I don't have internet.  Am I missing something in the setup?  Can this access point act as a repeater for this router?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2500 Router Can't Share Files

Jan 16, 2012

We just got a Linksys e2500 router for Christmas. We have a desktop computer running Windows XP using a cable connection to the router and a laptop running Windows 7 using a wireless connection. Both connect to the internet fine, but we can't get them to connect to each other for file sharing. I have them both set to the same work group name, but they don't appear on each others' lists of network connections. They can ping each other OK, but when trying to access shared files, the laptop only shows the laptop and the router, and the desktop only shows the desktop and the router. I tried the Cisco Connect Easy Setup wizard, using a USB key to share settings between the 2 computers with no luck.

I realize that you can't use the Windows 7 "home group" feature when connecting to an XP machine, but shouldn't there be some way to do it? Or is this caused by the fact that one connection is wired and the other is wireless? Do they both need to be the same for this to work, or is there a way to connect the wired and wireless networks together?
