View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using a PPPoE connection using a linksys WRT54G router (working perfectly) and am now trying to set up an Edimax EW-7206APg to extend my wireless connection range. I followed the instructions given on the Edimax manual, and while my devices (iPad, laptop) got connected to the new repeater network, I could not access the Internet from it. I may be wrong, but the instructions on the Edimax manual seemed to be for a DHCP connection. Is there anything different I need to do to configure the Edimax repeater on a PPPoE connection? My router IP ("Local IP address") shows 10.10.0.1 instead of the "192.168.1.1" that all the documentation online seems to suggest.
View 6 Replies View RelatedOur customer setup requires an outdoor WAP (the main WAP) and two wireless signal repeters (that will be WAP2000). The repeaters will be powered over the Ethernet only and will be connected to the same switch as the main WAP (unknown vendor). My question is:
Will a WAP2000 work smoothly as a repeater when it's powered over Ethernet only and connected to the same switch as the main WAP is?
I noticed that WAP2000 connected this way was sort of 'lost' in deciding to repeat a signal or work as an independent wireless access point. The problem was immediately removed once the repeater was disconnected from the switch and powered from an outlet. I am not sure whether it was wrong addressing setup or something else that was needed to check/uncheck.
I have purchased 4 of these devices about 2 months ago and have experienced all of the issues reported within this thread. The came with the 2.0.0.5 FW rev installed, so unless the 2.0.0.5 on the cisco DL site is different, nothing I can do with that.I've tried making them work as stand alone AP's, Bridge<-> Bridge, etc... all modes seem to lock up eventually needing a reboot to get any functionality back.Ultimately, I need to make them work in AP<->Client-Repeater mode. I've not been successful in making them work in any mode for a prolonged period of time.
having just rfound this thread today, I have not tried hard coding the NIC's to 100/full, but will give it a try. If it works, great, but then that would defeat the purpose of buying an N radio AP. I would like the potential 300Mbps throughput.

View 1 Replies View RelatedRight now I have it connected like this: Internet-> SURFboard SB6120 Modem -> DGL-4100 Router (modem in the WAN port, 3 internet connections plus the switch in the LAN ports) -> DGS-1008G Switch (2 other internet connections connected to this, as well as an Xbox 360).The problem is that everything connecting to the router works, and nothing works on the switch even though the power light is on (however, the port on the router that is receiving the switch is not lit up). I'm guessing this is because the router only assigns as many IP addresses as it has ports or something.

What I want to do is, to reproduce WiFi signal (from TP-LINK modem) by repeating with D-Link Wireless Access Point.
Here is how web interface looks. There is an option for repeating:
After clicking Site Survey I see all list of available networks. When I select one of them, the D-link saves changes then reboots. After that, Windows shows me something like that on available WiFi networks list:
<Repeated network name> 2
The problem is, when I connect to this network, Windows connects directly into root source, not to my WAP (I see this with inSSIDer utility).
when I try to configure my autonomous 1140, it does not work unless I use numbers. If I put in my phone number as my key, I can authenticate just fine. When I change it to some random letters and numbers.

View 1 Replies View Relatedis it possible to configure a Cisco 878 Router to act as a device(router) between a DSL Modem and the LAN ?
There is the following scenarium: "Deutsche Telekom DSL Modem -> Cisco Router 878 -> LAN"
DSL is an SDSL Connection with a static IP address.
The setup: My main router is a Belkin N. It is the DHCP controller. I have another Belkin N router connected by CAT5/RJ45, and DHCP is turned off. Each router has a different SSID, and WPA2//AES/TKIP is the security. The purpose of the second router is to act as an access point and extend the wireless range. Now I need to extend it further, but without through wireless. I had a G bridge connected to the second Belkin, and it in turn connected to a third router which was G. This worked but was sporadic. I bought an Amped SR150 N repeater to replace the bridge and third router. The repeater will connect to the second router with no problem. It shows the IP of the main router as the gateway IP. The laptop that the repeater is connected to then received an IP from the main router. However, the laptop has no internet. It also will not go to the IP of the main router.I tested the repeater by connecting it to the main router. That works fine, and the laptop gets internet. I tested the second router capability by connecting the laptop to it through wireless. That works fine to, and the laptop can go to the home page of both the main and second router. When I put the repeater back into the mix, the laptop does the same tihng: It gets a new IP from the main router, but no internet, and it will not go to the homepage of the main router.
