View 1 Replies View RelatedI have Dlink DWL - 2000AP+.
What I want to do is, to reproduce WiFi signal (from TP-LINK modem) by repeating with D-Link Wireless Access Point.
Here is how web interface looks. There is an option for repeating:
After clicking Site Survey I see all list of available networks. When I select one of them, the D-link saves changes then reboots. After that, Windows shows me something like that on available WiFi networks list:
<Repeated network name> 2
The problem is, when I connect to this network, Windows connects directly into root source, not to my WAP (I see this with inSSIDer utility).

I am using a PPPoE connection using a linksys WRT54G router (working perfectly) and am now trying to set up an Edimax EW-7206APg to extend my wireless connection range. I followed the instructions given on the Edimax manual, and while my devices (iPad, laptop) got connected to the new repeater network, I could not access the Internet from it. I may be wrong, but the instructions on the Edimax manual seemed to be for a DHCP connection. Is there anything different I need to do to configure the Edimax repeater on a PPPoE connection? My router IP ("Local IP address") shows 10.10.0.1 instead of the "192.168.1.1" that all the documentation online seems to suggest.

View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter reading posts in this forum and others, and reviewing MSFT tech docs, I'm still not able to establish file sharing between the wired PC and the wireless-connected laptop. Maybe I'm working under some stupid assumptions. I am able to ping each computer by their IP address - I can ping the laptop from the desktop, and vice versa. The desktop shows the Basecomputer under network places, but on the laptop, nothing at all shows up under network places. Laptop missing something?
The details:
a) Connecting to internet via DSL, Qwest ISP, Actiontec PK5000 Advanced Networking Network Router. Advanced Networking router, to me, means that home networking shouldn't require any other hardware. Stupid assumption?
b) Desktop PC is connected to the modem/router via ethernet cable
c) Laptop is connected to the modem/router via wireless, (Dell Wireless WLAN 1350 WLAN Mini PCI Card). Assocation tab of the wireless properties gives the network authentication/data encryption types as Open/WEP.
d) Some settings of the modem, viewed via the browser (192.168.0.x)
- Wireless security type: WPA
- MAC authentication Enabled
- Firewall security level: Off (NAT only)
e) Desktop PC is Windows XP Home Edition, SP 3
f) Laptop is Windows XP Professional Version 2002, SP3
g) Both are running Windows Firewall; File and Printer Sharing is checked for both, under the Exceptions tabl
h) I ran the Network setup wizard for both, using same Workgroup name, called HOME. Desktop is called BASECOMPUTER, and Laptop is called LAPTOP. No errors in the setup. On the desktop PC, under Windows Explorer, Network Places -> Entire Network, I can see a 'Home' network under a Microsoft Windows Network icon, with the Basecomputer listed. However, LAPTOP is not listed. This is after a couple of restarts.
i) ipconfig and nbtstat ouput
From the desktop:

View 2 Replies View RelatedJust upgraded to Verizon FIOS and had an Actiontec MI424WR Rev F router (firmware v.20.10.7) supplied. Went to white-list my ereader's MAC in router and intitial page asked me to change the default login and password which I planned to do anyway. I know what I changed them to. Made changes, logged out, then decided I really wasn't comfortable with WEP and went back to change it to WPA. All I got was "Login failed, please try again." Finally hit the reset button and started over at the "please change login and password" screen. I can get in then.
I've been through this six times now and cannot get past the initial login without a hard reset. Tried keeping "admin" as the login because I have met peripherials that are touchy about that. Not a major issue now that I have the router set up to my satisfaction, but it frustrates me to not have password access to any part of my system. (Yes, I am that anal.)

Or do I just let both of the transmit as routers together?

View 14 Replies View RelatedI tried to forward a new port on my Actiontec V1000H router. I was able to sign in without incident, but the moment I tried to begin navigating within pages, I would be greeted with a red screen reading '400 Bad Request - No request found' roughly 60% of the time. Usually refreshing the page a number of times would allow me to proceed, but because the Telus software for the V1000H cycles through so many pages when applying a new forwarded port to the firewall, it's almost statistically impossible to make it through.I have no issues with internet connectivity, and having this port forwarded isn't critical, but this problem is a real nuisance as it turns changing any router settings into a long, tedious, and sometimes downright impossible chore.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe recently moved to a place with included internet that was going through a wireless network. All of my devices connect fine, no problem (iPhone xbox and USB adapter) but the lady friends laptop wont connect. It recognizes the network, connects to the network after the password has been entered but will not "give out" any internet. Signal Strength is very good (router is maybe 20 feet from us). All the drivers for the wireless adapter in her laptop are up to date and it will connect to other networks, like at her mom's. This is a newer router and funny enough we actually used this exact model at our last place and it had no problems with this. After calling our landlords ISP they said that there may be a problem with the compatibility of her laptop (its only 3 years old and connects to other networks fine) with the router, yet it connected to the same model not 6 months ago.
People we are at wits end and I am . As my username states If I cant find a fix for this I will enjoy smashing this thing to bits.
FYI: the router is an Actiontec V100H
