From what i can tell the main problem is the DIR-300 router, ive checked it has the latest firmware, reset the router from factory, tested it with less connections, called up my ISP and checked everything was good on there end but to no avail[CODE]
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe recently moved and upgraded our internet service from 1.5 Mbps to 4Mbps with CenturyLink. However, since our service was activated last Thursday, the internet connection intermittently drops and will not recover unless I reboot the modem. The period of up-time will last anywhere between fifteen seconds to several hours, usually falling along the five-to-ten minute range. No difference when using ethernet/wifi. The DSL light stays on, and the Internet light remains on as well.

Since couple weeks ago very strange issues started occuring, internet and network access(path to network share is lost) would come up at random times and on different machines and would last for about 10-20 seconds it would re-connect again. All the computers are using private addresses. Most machines are windows 7, some are xp.Using Windows server 2003 as dc.Since the occurance is so random it's very hard to pin point the cause.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a WRT120N router .It has something to do with turning on or re-introducing certain wireless devices into the area. When I come home with my iPhone & my wife is on her computer, suddenly the wifi stops. And vice-versa. It's ridiculous. I'm not a computer programmer but if I was I'm pretty sure this would be a no-brainer to fix. Especially if the company that paid me took pride in their products.

I currently have the ATT Elite DSL package, which is I believe the 6MBPS(?) package? Anyway, it's the $40 package and I want to say it's either the second or third up from the basic 19.95/month subscription. Here's my problem: ever since I moved into this building, I get signal drops on my ATT all the time--like at least once an hour if not more often. I had a technician check the wiring and he even replaced the router box (they always do) in hopes of improving the situation but so far, no dice.
I have tried switching to different channels after using scanning to see what channels other internet users nearby were using, but I did not see any improvement. The best solution I've been able to come up with is to set my router to be on 802.11B only. For the most part,I have not disconnected but I do feel a certain amount of slow-down or lag compared to my 802.11G settings. Now,I might be paranoid but it certainly does take a good amount of time longer to load up pages and such as compared to previously. The tech suggested I look towards getting an 802.11A/N router, but alas ATT does not support routers of that caliber...not sure why. It's been years and they're still stuck with the 2Wire 2701HG-B model for DSL.
I have had an HP 6197CA for 6 months. This week it started dropping the wireless network, or connecting randomly at 1mbps when all other laptops, Blackberries, AppleTVs, etc. are getting about 20mbps when tested.

Problem is, the WIFI doesn't work well at all, I'm 2 meters from my box right now, And I'm not experiencing any problems, but as soon as I get upstairs in my bedroom, my signal speed drops significantly, I can't even load a you tube video, I was downloading a game from steam yesterday, and the dl speed dropped to 6mb/s!! That's awful, If this problem can't be fixed, I'll be returning mine, and won't buy any other Dell product, I don't see how a laptop that pricey can have that kind of problems. ( because I heard I wasn't the only one, a lot of people have the same problem).
My WRT120N drops signal to Laptop occasionally and I do not understand why. I tried to update the firmware, version 1.0 to 1.0.04, is that a newer version? My next step is to try to update the drivers in the laptop. The dropped signal seems random and only happens with the laptop. Other devices connected work fine.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy new computer was delivered December 21, 2012. Imagine my surprise that I can't connect to my wireless connection unless I am less than 10 feet away from the AT& T wireless router. There are 3 computers 1 floor up and 30 feet away that can connect, so I know it isn't that the signal isn't strong enough. My Inspiron 9300 that I have had since 2005 can connect and I am using it right now. Here's my specifics.

Windows 8
1 T hard drive
8 G RAM
32 G SATA Drive
Inter N-2230
AT&T internet wireless router.
The new computer will hook up when extremely close to the router but it does lose the signal occasionally even though I am only 10 feet away.
I have a WAG160N v2 and a UK Online broadbad account, windows xp. The connection intermittmently drops out, approx 15-30 times per day. I have spoken to my ISP and had the line checked (no packet loss issue), checked the settings on the router against my ISP and also updated the router firmware all with no improvement.

When my main PC (Windows 7 64Bit SP1) which is connected with a ethernet cable is running the wireless speed is great for all my connected devices. (Android/Apple phones, tablets, family PC, etc). But when I shut down my main PC the wireless speed drops to the point where it can take 3-5 mins for google.com to load up. The wireless connection is still showing as strong, just the speed isn't there anymore. If I were to turn my PC back on, everything will load up almost instantly and be back to normal. I've tried reinstalling the router, resetting it all back to default settings and re configuring it but I've had no luck in solving this.

I'm running a Cisco E4200V2 router with the latest firmware (2.1.4.12284) on an iMac running OS X 10.8. My ISP is providing 15Mbps to my modem, which I've confirmed by connecting directly to it without the router. Once I put the router back in the path, my broadband speed drops to about 6 Mbps. Is this the best I can expect from this router?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently installed a Cisco X2000. Several PCs running Windows XP Pro connect wirelessly. Also, we have an Android device and iPhone connected to the wireless network. We have a network printer and network drive connected via wires to the router. Most of the time the router and cable modem features work well. However, every so often all devices lose wireless signal simultaneously. It is not possible to reconnect to the X2000 unless I unplug the X2000 and plug it back in. After this reboot, we can connect again. Obviously, this is quite frustrating. By the way, we get acceptable signal strength after the X2000 locks out however none of the devices (computers or phones) are able to connect.

View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter reading posts in this forum and others, and reviewing MSFT tech docs, I'm still not able to establish file sharing between the wired PC and the wireless-connected laptop. Maybe I'm working under some stupid assumptions. I am able to ping each computer by their IP address - I can ping the laptop from the desktop, and vice versa. The desktop shows the Basecomputer under network places, but on the laptop, nothing at all shows up under network places. Laptop missing something?
The details:
a) Connecting to internet via DSL, Qwest ISP, Actiontec PK5000 Advanced Networking Network Router. Advanced Networking router, to me, means that home networking shouldn't require any other hardware. Stupid assumption?
b) Desktop PC is connected to the modem/router via ethernet cable
c) Laptop is connected to the modem/router via wireless, (Dell Wireless WLAN 1350 WLAN Mini PCI Card). Assocation tab of the wireless properties gives the network authentication/data encryption types as Open/WEP.
d) Some settings of the modem, viewed via the browser (192.168.0.x)
- Wireless security type: WPA
- MAC authentication Enabled
- Firewall security level: Off (NAT only)
e) Desktop PC is Windows XP Home Edition, SP 3
f) Laptop is Windows XP Professional Version 2002, SP3
g) Both are running Windows Firewall; File and Printer Sharing is checked for both, under the Exceptions tabl
h) I ran the Network setup wizard for both, using same Workgroup name, called HOME. Desktop is called BASECOMPUTER, and Laptop is called LAPTOP. No errors in the setup. On the desktop PC, under Windows Explorer, Network Places -> Entire Network, I can see a 'Home' network under a Microsoft Windows Network icon, with the Basecomputer listed. However, LAPTOP is not listed. This is after a couple of restarts.
i) ipconfig and nbtstat ouput
From the desktop:

View 3 Replies View RelatedJust upgraded to Verizon FIOS and had an Actiontec MI424WR Rev F router (firmware v.20.10.7) supplied. Went to white-list my ereader's MAC in router and intitial page asked me to change the default login and password which I planned to do anyway. I know what I changed them to. Made changes, logged out, then decided I really wasn't comfortable with WEP and went back to change it to WPA. All I got was "Login failed, please try again." Finally hit the reset button and started over at the "please change login and password" screen. I can get in then.
I've been through this six times now and cannot get past the initial login without a hard reset. Tried keeping "admin" as the login because I have met peripherials that are touchy about that. Not a major issue now that I have the router set up to my satisfaction, but it frustrates me to not have password access to any part of my system. (Yes, I am that anal.)
I'm purchasing an Actiontec GT724WGR Universally Compatible 4-port ADSL Wireless Gateway to be used strictly as a modem with Qwest DSL. I'm also purchasing an Asus Black Diamond Dual Band Processor, Hardware NAT, 5 Internal Antennas, Fast Gigabit Ethernet and 128MB DDR2 Wireless Router (RT-N56U) to be utilized a my primary router. My question is how do I set up the Actiontec modem to be strictly used as a modem without the wireless g function transmitting since I will be using the ASUS as the primary router? Or do I just let both of the transmit as routers together?
