View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a 3g usb modem hooked up to my main Windows xp laptop. I'm also sharing that 3g connection with ICS out the ethernet port on the laptop to my wifi router.
All works ok and I'm able to browse from all computers connected to the wifi router except when I turn on the main laptop's wifi to connect to the same wifi router that it's connected to through ethernet for ics.
I am able to ping google and stuff and also use skype but I can't browse the web on any browser. If I turn off the wifi card on that laptop then I'm able to browse again with no problem on the main laptop and on all other connected computers.
I'm not sure but I'm guessing that the browsers are trying to connect through the wifi connection and no longer through the 3g usb modem?
The reason that I turned on the wifi connection of the main laptop to connect to the router is because connected to the router is also my security cameras dvr system and this way I can see my cameras on this main laptop.
So in other words, I have to turn off my main laptop's wifi connection to be able to browse the web but then I cant access the security system's dvr any longer.
My router's ip is 192.168.1.1
My dvr's ip is 192.168.1.100
My laptops' ip is 192.168.0.1
on my laptop hp pavillion g 7 series is not enabling wifi button it stays orange and i trouble shoot

View 19 Replies View RelatedOver the past few days I've been having a problem with my internet connection.
I connect to my home wifi network and will have excellent signal strength, but after about 20 minutes or so, I will lose internet access, but will stay connected to my wifi network. If I join my neighbor's wifi network I will have the same issue.I will connect to a network, and while still connected, I will suddenly lose internet access (signal strength will remain the same). Switching networks doesn't correct the problem.
When I lose internet, I can disconnect from the network and reconnect mere seconds later and will have the internet access back again.I have reset the modem/router and my computer numerous times but the problem does not go away.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo here's a fresh spin (and not in a good way) on the seemingly common port-flapping issue, where a windows vista/7 machine's ethernet port vacillates between "enabling, identifying, network cable unplugged." I've tried the fixes I've seen around, like forcing the speed to 10 or 100Mb duplex, etc. But I think the problem goes deeper than that -or drivers or faulty NICs. Its acting like it's in the cabling. . . but not. Any advice would be welcome.Just switched from one DSL provider (Bell) to another (Teksavvy). Connected via a dry loop. When the Bell tech first set it up a year ago, he did it like this: Patch cord frome the Bell 2Wire modem/router combo to a female coupler. Female coupler attached to cat5 cable running about 25/30 feet along baseboards around the corner to another female coupler. Patch cord from female coupler to NIC in the back of my box. This worked fine. New set up with Tek savvy is as follows: DSL modem via patch cord to (wireless) D-Link router. D-link router connected to computer by same aforementioned setup. This results in the port-flapping named in the title of this message, on the hard line only. Any change in my computer was ruled out by connecting a brand new, never been connected laptop and the same terminal as my computer. Results in port flapping. The same laptop connected to the router by just the patch cord results in a perfect connection. I've tried moving the patch cords around, it doesn't change the results, so they're fine. I have no way of testing this long stretch of installed cable in the middle, with the couplers on it, since I don't have an equal length cable to try out anywhere, but I'd be surprised if that just died after a year's use exactly when I connected new hardware to the other end of it. Running windows 7 with a RealTek NIC on my box. D-Link router (will check the model later, at work at the moment), and TP-Link DSL modem. The system delivers wireless internet flawlessly.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI purchased a WNDR3400v2 probably around two months back and since then I haven't had any issues with it. Now, I like to keep the security setting on WPA2-PSK for the security but my brothers and my own Nintendo DS don't support this security for connecting. So, since my previous router had a guest network, I decided to activate and deactivate that network with no security when it was needed (Half hour or less), and I haven't had any issues until doing this with the WNDR3400v2.
Basically what happens is, after disabling the guest network again, no wireless devices can connect to the router... PERIOD... Upon trying to connect it also says "You are unable to connect) right after it verifies the password. I spent a few hours trying to fix it but I haven't gotten anywhere really..
What I have tried-v
-Resetting the Router
-Powercycling the Router
-Resetting it to factory defaults and restoring previous settings
-Enabling and disabling the network
-Deleting the original network saved on the computers and connecting as if from a new network.
-Also tried restarting my computers
-Updating the firmware (For some odd reason I couldn't find any firmware last week..)
I researched it a bit and found some solid leads, but nothing that fixed the issue. The only "Fix" I could find was disabling the security and leaving it open.. Which I would prefer not to do for obvious reasons...
Router Type: Netgear Wireless Dual-Band N600 Router (WNDR3400v2)

I have an Actiontek pk5000, and it disconnects wifi every few minutes, I have this computer hooked to ethernet, and it still works, but my macs, and tablets won't connect wirelessly I have rebooted the modem 6 times now, and I get about 5 minutes of internet every time I reboot. I have tried to upgrade the firmware on it, but it says there are no updates for the firmware available for the router.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter reading posts in this forum and others, and reviewing MSFT tech docs, I'm still not able to establish file sharing between the wired PC and the wireless-connected laptop. Maybe I'm working under some stupid assumptions. I am able to ping each computer by their IP address - I can ping the laptop from the desktop, and vice versa. The desktop shows the Basecomputer under network places, but on the laptop, nothing at all shows up under network places. Laptop missing something?
The details:
a) Connecting to internet via DSL, Qwest ISP, Actiontec PK5000 Advanced Networking Network Router. Advanced Networking router, to me, means that home networking shouldn't require any other hardware. Stupid assumption?
b) Desktop PC is connected to the modem/router via ethernet cable
c) Laptop is connected to the modem/router via wireless, (Dell Wireless WLAN 1350 WLAN Mini PCI Card). Assocation tab of the wireless properties gives the network authentication/data encryption types as Open/WEP.
d) Some settings of the modem, viewed via the browser (192.168.0.x)
- Wireless security type: WPA
- MAC authentication Enabled
- Firewall security level: Off (NAT only)
e) Desktop PC is Windows XP Home Edition, SP 3
f) Laptop is Windows XP Professional Version 2002, SP3
g) Both are running Windows Firewall; File and Printer Sharing is checked for both, under the Exceptions tabl
h) I ran the Network setup wizard for both, using same Workgroup name, called HOME. Desktop is called BASECOMPUTER, and Laptop is called LAPTOP. No errors in the setup. On the desktop PC, under Windows Explorer, Network Places -> Entire Network, I can see a 'Home' network under a Microsoft Windows Network icon, with the Basecomputer listed. However, LAPTOP is not listed. This is after a couple of restarts.
i) ipconfig and nbtstat ouput
From the desktop:

In order to get my wireless printer up and running I need to temporarily disable my actiontec PK5000 router.

My question is does enabling flow control on all ports interrupt network traffic at all? this is a production network so I had already planned on doing it during off hours but also wanted to know if I should be prepared for any significant drop in traffic.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have many computers and work on a wireless network. We live in a very large multi-unit building in a very large city. We hadn't had any issues with connectivity for a while, but recently the PCs in the office cannot stay connected for more than a minute or two. It happens to our two desktops and one laptop; the only computer that seems immune is the lone apple laptop. The PC laptop has much less difficulty staying on when I sit in the room with the router. The office is literally the next room over, less than 20 feet. The network still shows up as an available network, it just won't connect. All the impacted computers will be fine for maybe a minute and then will all drop out at the same time. Rarely (like once in the past month) there will be no issues at all, and we can stay on all day. We have changed the channel of it a few times, but there are at least 15 other networks nearby. The router is relatively new, it is a Netgear Rangemax Duo wireless n-adapter. We have gotten to the point where we have no idea where to go next.
