Jan 10, 2012I have an HP Mini running windows xp. When its connected to wifi everywhere else it works but this new place it will not allow my internet to bring up anything.

Jan 2, 2013my netgear wireless modem model - wgr614 v10. When I connect router to PC via LAN cable the wifi speed on my mobile goes to around 8MBPS and as soon as I disconnect LAN cable from PC it went down to almost 0. In short wifi only working fine when LAN is connected to my PC . I have selected channel 11 and Mode upto 54 MBPS and WPA-PSK key. My region is North America and latest firmware is available on my router. As recommended by some netgear support representative I changed the Fragmentation Length and CTS/RTS Threshold to 2304 but the problem is still there. What I noticed after that is as soon as I remove the LAN cable from my PC the wireless network start showing me no Internet access. And as soon as I insert LAN cable again to my PC wifi start working.

Nov 13, 2011i have two a laptop and a notebook, i have moved into a new house at university and have a great internet connection with everything working brilliantly! for the first time today i tried to connect my actual laptop to the internet but it wont. It connects to the correct router and that router is working fine but my laptop says 'local only' and will not let me connect to the Internet at all?

Verizon Dsl Connected But Internet Not Working?
Jun 23, 2011I have a windows vista computer and my internet works through a modem/router. Just a couple of days ago my internet stopped working but the modem connection would always say its on. I've also noticed that the firewall is off and when I try to turn it on, it won't let me. Also, before the internet stopped working .I uninstalled pc tools *because I already had malwarebytes* but I don't know if that has anything to do with the internet not working. I've already tried the basics.. like putting it on safe mode and changing modems but nothing has worked so far.

Apr 8, 2011After moving I was using a wireless Internet connection for a while but then I started using a direct connection to a router. Now I'm back to wireless but I'm having this problem, my brother has been using the wireless from the beginning and still does so I'm sure it's my computer. No browsers work, no games, nothing can connect to the Internet.I'm running windows 7 and now the Internet icon in the taskbar is the computer monitor with a yellow triangle as opposed to the bars of wireless internet unless I'm connected or trying to connect to the wireless Internet that either says I have limited connectivity or is connected but doesn't work.

Jul 7, 2011I bought I router today, Linksys E2500 and set it up, for some reason its connected with full strength but the internet does not work on my computer, or any other device connected to the network I established on the router. Oct 13, 2012I've got a refurbished lenovo Y470 notebook, just out of the box. I was planning on spending the day configuring it, removing bloatware, ect. but I can't acces the internet. I'm at work, there is a guest wireless network for us, I can connect with my phone so the network is up. I was able to connect normally to my home network last night, not sure why I can't connect here. Running win 7 home premium.

I had to format my hard drive yesterday but the back up disc I have wasn't working, so I reinstalled Windows XP straight from an XP disc. I was missing a few drivers which I've managed to find. One of the devices showing as unknown was the Ethernet Controller, which was preventing me from being able to use the Internet. I managed to find myself the drivers for this "Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC". Now no devices are showing as unknown, all are showing as working and the below screenshot shows that apparently I'm connected (via ethernet cable), but for some reason the Internet isn't working.

Jan 17, 2013I just bought a laptop installed with Windows 8. I want to connect my iPhone to the Internet through the laptop. I have tried using Connectify to set up a WiFi hotspot. It works only with WEP and my iPhone can connect to the Internet but my iPhone disconnects from the hotspot after a while and I need to restart my Connectify hotspot, which is really annoying.I googled online and find that I can use the netsh command to set up the hotspot. I run command prompt in administrator mode and type in the following:
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=adhocnetwork key=password
netsh wlan start hostednetwork
And then I share the wired network through control panel > network connections > ethernet > properties.I connect my iPhone to the hosted network and typed in the password. I see a tick next to the SSID, meaning it can connect to the hosted network.I also check the status of the hosted network. Both IPv4 and IPv6 connectivity show Internet.But when I open Safari on my iPhone, it says no Internet.

Jul 19, 2011I have an Asus U31JG with WIndows 7 64-bit. This laptop is a month old to me and the wireless has been acting up since the day I got it, will explain below. I believe my home network is the problem. I have a Linksys WRT54G with WPA Personal encryption. Multiple times a day my internet quits working even though Windows says it has full connection to my router. To fix this, I open command prompt and use "ipconfig /release" and "ipconfig /renew". This fixes the problem for me, it may be a minute or a few hours. The problem is very intermittent and only happens at my home which is why I believe it is my network. However, I changed the wireless channel to 1, the only one around on that channel and tried different security settings. My WiFi works flawlessly if I take my laptop to my friends house where he has a Netgear router. I have also tried a brand new Cisco Router as well as a Netgear router at my house.
I've re installed the driver twice, and the same problem persists in Linux only I just have to disable/enable wireless.
Note: When the internet quits working on my laptop it works on other devices so it is not the internet connection causing this. And my internet is very slow when it is working on my laptop via wireless.
