i have two a laptop and a notebook, i have moved into a new house at university and have a great internet connection with everything working brilliantly! for the first time today i tried to connect my actual laptop to the internet but it wont. It connects to the correct router and that router is working fine but my laptop says 'local only' and will not let me connect to the Internet at all?

At the moment it keeps fluctuating between giving me interne and not I am using Skype to tell me if I have Internet ( when it's green I do when it's grey I don't) I have tried many things on forums like obtaining ip automatically or obtaining a fixed ip. I've tried renewing the ip and all this doesnt work.

Just a couple of days ago my internet stopped working but the modem connection would always say its on. I've also noticed that the firewall is off and when I try to turn it on, it won't let me. Also, before the internet stopped working .I uninstalled pc tools *because I already had malwarebytes* but I don't know if that has anything to do with the internet not working. I've already tried the basics.. like putting it on safe mode and changing modems but nothing has worked so far.

After moving I was using a wireless Internet connection for a while but then I started using a direct connection to a router. Now I'm back to wireless but I'm having this problem, my brother has been using the wireless from the beginning and still does so I'm sure it's my computer. No browsers work, no games, nothing can connect to the Internet.I'm running windows 7 and now the Internet icon in the taskbar is the computer monitor with a yellow triangle as opposed to the bars of wireless internet unless I'm connected or trying to connect to the wireless Internet that either says I have limited connectivity or is connected but doesn't work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought I router today, Linksys E2500 and set it up, for some reason its connected with full strength but the internet does not work on my computer, or any other device connected to the network I established on the router. I've looked through so many articles and posts on here, I've fixed the winsock, I tried the netsh winsock and the netsh int ip reset reset.log, but when I put in netsh int ip reset reset.log in the command prompt, nothing happens after I press enter. I've updated through microsoft updates, and updated some drivers from the hp website. Ive repaired, and tried restarting the router, and even the modem and nothing changed. It's still connected, but the interenet still is not working. The modem is fine, as when I disable the wireless connection, the internet works. Yes, I have Sp3 installed. I am using windows xp and the computer is called HP Pavilion a1013w Desktop PC.

I'm totally confused as to why the Internet on my PC isn't working. I had to format my hard drive yesterday but the back up disc I have wasn't working, so I reinstalled Windows XP straight from an XP disc. I was missing a few drivers which I've managed to find. One of the devices showing as unknown was the Ethernet Controller, which was preventing me from being able to use the Internet. I managed to find myself the drivers for this "Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC". Now no devices are showing as unknown, all are showing as working and the below screenshot shows that apparently I'm connected (via ethernet cable), but for some reason the Internet isn't working.

On the day of the switch I lost my internet and have not had it since.Countless calls to AOL, line checks done and all showing as clear. Technician out today and no internal faults found.The internet light on the router is flashing orange, occassionally turning green but not holding. Router problems have been ruled out. Laptop shows communication with router but there is no internet access. The network sharing center confirms I am connected to my network, and that I am connected to the internet; however, I can not connect to the internet with IE, chrome, or any other internet-based application. The icon in the bottom right also says I have internet access. As well, another ethernet-connected PC in the house works just fine, and my laptop has no trouble connecting through the wireless. I have switched the connection ports on the router between the two PCs and the problem still persists.Trouble shooter results without identifying any problems and trying to "set up a new connection or network" says "you are already connected to the internet". When I do an ipconfig /all the Connection-specific DNS Suffix is missing. Not sure if that is part of the issue. I tried ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew and that did not resolve the issue.Another odd thing is when someone else logs into my computer they are able to access the internet through the corporate wifi.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI connected EA6500 internet port to actiontec router provided by Verizon fios. I don't have any other way to connect as FIOS connection is coax to actiontec modem. I must take a drop from actiontec to internet port on EA6500.
With that said, I can't get EA6500 to work, it keeps saying no internet. The only way I can get it to work is when I set it to bridge mode. This makes my EA6500 a dumb switch/access point. I didn't spend $200 for a switch. I need to use advanced features offered by this router but I can't until this problem is fixed. I made sure I am running latest version of firmware (1.1.28.146856).
I have reset my fios router as well as ea6500 to factory defaults multiple times.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the following equipment/software: Acer Aspire One running Windows XP SP3, Artheros AR5007EG wireless network adapter, Realtek RTL8102E PCI NIC, Cisco Linksys E1000 Router.The Wireless Network Connection status says that I'm connected to my network with a full signal strength but I cannot get out to the internet and I cannot ping the router from that computer. I can, however, get to the internet via a wired connection to the router via the Realtek NIC. This has been the only computer that I've been unable to connect to my network and to the internet. It was connected to a different router before and connected easily but that router went bad so I replaced it with the E1000.Don't know if it's the wireless adapter that's bad or something else.

I tried corrective action but the problem continued.On the advice from Netgear tyech support,I tried just using LAN - that didn't work.
