Connected To Router But No Internet
Jun 14, 2012
My computer will sometimes disconnect from the internet but not the router while i am surfing the web. so i have to go and disconnect and reconnect to the router which is kind of annoying especially if you are watching a video and you have to do it every min or so. the router is shared with xboxes, ps3s, like 5 or 6 computers, smart tv, phones etc and works fine with them but it seem my computer is the only one that has this problem.

Current set up all worked fine for years (wireless Netgear router, ISP AOL ) until I changed my phone provider to AOL last week. On the day of the switch I lost my internet and have not had it since.Countless calls to AOL, line checks done and all showing as clear. Technician out today and no internal faults found. The internet light on the router is flashing orange, occassionally turning green but not holding. Router problems have been ruled out. Laptop shows communication with router but there is no internet access. This can not be a coincidence, I am sure something has gone wrong on the day of the switch since that is when the problem started.I am in really close range of the exchange and technician said I have good conectivity and wondered if there was a conflict issue somewhere.

I have a pc that is connected to my router through an Ethernet cable. The network sharing center confirms I am connected to my network, and that I am connected to the internet; however, I can not connect to the internet with IE, chrome, or any other internet-based application. The icon in the bottom right also says I have internet access. As well, another ethernet-connected PC in the house works just fine, and my laptop has no trouble connecting through the wireless. I have switched the connection ports on the router between the two PCs and the problem still persists.Trouble shooter results without identifying any problems and trying to "set up a new connection or network" says "you are already connected to the internet". This issue occurred over night and had been working for over a year without issue. I have restarted the router as well as the pc, connected to the router and it shows the pc as "inactive"

OS: WIN XP ?For some reason I am not able to access the internet even though I'm connected to the corporate router. When I do an ipconfig /all the Connection-specific DNS Suffix is missing. Not sure if that is part of the issue. I tried ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew and that did not resolve the issue.Another odd thing is when someone else logs into my computer they are able to access the internet through the corporate wifi.

had this same problem last year and by a fluke i was connected to the internet so my wireless printer could access web services but one of my computers connected to the router kept disconnecting from the internet so i had to change the settings now i want to try to get the router connected to the internet again. my wireless network has no internet access so i know the router isnt connected to the internet but i am online right now through the router. My ISP is AOL Canada. I also had a message on the computer saying that the DNS server isn't responding. Also my internet has no network access. Also i had the router set for DHCP NOT PPPoE or whatever its called. also what DNS should i put for the setting or do I need to put that on router setup page for the internet. Also is there any way of stopping the other computer from disconnecting from the internet once i get the router connected to the internet? One more thing on the taskbar at the bottom of the screen where the wireless icon is theres a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in over it how do i get rid of that when i had the router connected to the internet last year the yellow triangle was gone. And right now on the network map its showing an x through the line going from the router to the internet which i know means theres no internet from the router.

I connected EA6500 internet port to actiontec router provided by Verizon fios. I don't have any other way to connect as FIOS connection is coax to actiontec modem. I must take a drop from actiontec to internet port on EA6500.
With that said, I can't get EA6500 to work, it keeps saying no internet. The only way I can get it to work is when I set it to bridge mode. This makes my EA6500 a dumb switch/access point. I didn't spend $200 for a switch. I need to use advanced features offered by this router but I can't until this problem is fixed. I made sure I am running latest version of firmware (1.1.28.146856).
I have reset my fios router as well as ea6500 to factory defaults multiple times.

I have the following equipment/software: Acer Aspire One running Windows XP SP3, Artheros AR5007EG wireless network adapter, Realtek RTL8102E PCI NIC, Cisco Linksys E1000 Router. The Wireless Network Connection status says that I'm connected to my network with a full signal strength but I cannot get out to the internet and I cannot ping the router from that computer. I can, however, get to the internet via a wired connection to the router via the Realtek NIC. This has been the only computer that I've been unable to connect to my network and to the internet. It was connected to a different router before and connected easily but that router went bad so I replaced it with the E1000.Don't know if it's the wireless adapter that's bad or something else.

I have read most of the responses to the same type of problem but none of them have got my XP pc to connect to the internet. I am using Wireles and LAN.My router was Netgear DG843N which was intermittently dropping the connection to the net. I tried corrective action but the problem continued. On the advice from Netgear tyech support,I tried just using LAN - that didn't work. Then they suggested using another router,so I purchased a Netgear DGN1000 Router. This did not resiolve the problem so I contacted Netgear who suggested several things to do.As the XP was connecting to the router both wireless and LAN we decided that it was not a router problem. All of my devices attached o the router ( printer - Vista pc- Win 7 laptop)are working correctly, just the XP pc that is not.
Details of the pc are :-
Windows XP Home Edition
Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 Build 2600

I bought I router today, Linksys E2500 and set it up, for some reason its connected with full strength but the internet does not work on my computer, or any other device connected to the network I established on the router. I've looked through so many articles and posts on here, I've fixed the winsock, I tried the netsh winsock and the netsh int ip reset reset.log, but when I put in netsh int ip reset reset.log in the command prompt, nothing happens after I press enter. I've updated through microsoft updates, and updated some drivers from the hp website. Ive repaired, and tried restarting the router, and even the modem and nothing changed. It's still connected, but the interenet still is not working. The modem is fine, as when I disable the wireless connection, the internet works. Yes, I have Sp3 installed.I am using windows xp and the computer is called HP Pavilion a1013w Desktop PC. [code]

I am with BT Broadband and have not had any problems with connection for the 2 months since I have been connected except for a brief disconnection this afternoon do have a Homehub but it arrived after my connection day and I like my wired Netgear router so have carried on using that. Also worried if I can't get the Homehub working I might mess up the settings on the wired router too.Is it possible to view the Netgear Router setup and diagnostics page http://192.168.0.1/ when offline?I thought it was as I am sure I have done this in the past when I could not get connected to the internet. Everything is working fine now but when I lost internet connection this afternoon, I went to open http://192.168.0.1/, entered my password but the page would not open while offline. Connection came back and I am able to open the page as normal

Linksys Wireless router connected but no access to the internet. I do not have a modem in my flat from ISP, only a cable, since the internet is set for every apartment in the building. I have a username and password that I use to connect. There is no problem connecting with the cable. I set up by Belkin wireless router and I'm actually connected to internet wireless but it only works if I also enable the primary ISP connection on my computer so my laptop is connected to internet without a cable. But this weird connection does not allow me to connect my phone to wireless or any other computer. Also the router settings site says not connected to internet and the internet light on Belkin is off.I have a Slovenian ISP -Amis, cable connection and Belkin Wireless modem, Avira Free antivirus.

I am having trouble keeping a stable internet connection when connecting through the router. I am on my third new router in one week thinking it was a router issue but I don't think so anymore. I am on cable internet using a motorola surfboard modem. The router I bought is a Belkin N750. I also tried a Cisco E1200 and EA2700 with no luck. I have been on the phone with support for probably ten hours total and tried all of their settings to no avail.

So, I restarted my linksys router (WRT54G model) yesterday because of some issues I was having. Right now, I have full bars for connectivity on all my devices (Acer Aspire laptop running Windows 7 starter) when the Ethernet cord is connected from the modem to the router, but I have no internet access. Only when my laptop is connected directly to the modem, I have access to the internet (but ofcourse no wireless).

My desktop recently broke so i bought my first laptop. I have AT&T DSL and i bought a new D-Link DSL-2640B modem/router so i could have wireless internet. I installed it and i was able to use it with the ethernet cable, however when i tried to use wifi, it worked for only about 2 minutes before it disconnected.. Now when i try again it says that it is connected (full 5 bars) but it also says there is no internet access and i cannot use the internet.
Also, before, with the old modem i was able to just connect the ethernet cable to the laptop and just start using the internet. Now i have to connect by putting in my username and password provided by my ISP almost like if it was dial up. I don't know why i have to do this now but not before.

Well i recently purchased a Linksys e2500 router,so i connect it to my modem and then to my PC, all by Ethernet cable(no wireless) as i want my pc connected by cable, i go through the set up CD and it finishes and says you are now connected to your router but..... not to the internet and it tells me to restart the modem with i have done, i have also tried power cycling modem, router and PC, but i still get the same old problem and when i go in network connections my local area connection says i am connected but it wont let me use the internet. also above when i have been trying to set up the router this "Internet Gateway" pops up in my network connections and it is disabled and whenever i try to enabled it it just says failed.
I'm on Cable broadband my modem is a Motorola SB5101 SURFboard cable modem and the router is an Linksys Cisco e2500 and i am using windows xp sp 3

I have a Belkin G Wireless Router which until recently, apart from a few signal drop-outs, was working fine.A couple of weeks ago, I tried to connect to the internet but despite the icon on my netbook showing that my Wireless Network Connection is connected and has excellent strength, I am unable to open any webpages etc. I tried re-booting the router but it is still not working.
The modem is working fine as I am able to access the netbook if I plug my netbook into it directly and I don't think it is an issue with my netbook as I have the same problem if I try to connect my HTC Smartphone to the internet through Wi-Fi too, eg recognises signal but cannot access pages. The router was permanently plugged in and turned on which I have since heard tends to burn them out so I am thinking it might be an issue with the router.
