May 26, 2011I cannot access any internet browsers. My OS is Vista and I use Verizon Fios. My computer is hooked up to my modem via ethernet cable.I have no computer and am chilling at friends house to use his internet on his lap top.

Jan 7, 2012My nana has just got a second hand laptop (refurbished) which we cannot get connected to the internet. She has tried it at her own home and also at ours. Both houses have working internet connections. The wireless says it is connected with excellent signal strength but when you try and open up Internet explorer, nothing happens. Sometimes you end up with a page cannot be displayed error and sometime it just stays white with the 'waiting for reply' status up. The top and bottom bars say that the web site has been found but then nothing. When trying to diagnose the problem using the tool on 'page cannot be displayed' I get the following error. [code] I have tried connecting the laptop to the router directly using the ethernet cable but a bubble appears saying 'limited or no connectivity'.I have checked that nothing is ticked in proxy settings too.

May 13, 2011So I'm trying to fix gateway laptop running Vista. The computer can connect both wired and wirelessly to the internet just fine. Sadly that's all it does. It doesn't let you use IE/Firefox/Skype or video games or anything. Every program acts like you're not connected. All signs seem to point towards it working just fine. I'm at a loss and can't figure out what's wrong with it.
Also, the internet works just fine if you start in safe mode with networking. You can use IE/Firefox just fine. I've tried turning off proxies and such but there aren't any as far as I can tell.

My netbook works very well in my home network but when I brought it to my workplace, I was unable to connect to the internet eventhough I could connect to the wireless network. Other computers and laptops were able to connect and use the internet well using the same router. I tried manually configuring my IP and default gateway based on what I read but nothing worked.

I can ping the netgear router from the 861, however, when I connect my PC to it, I am unable to ping let alone connect to the internet, the PC is getting an IP from the 861 and I can ping the fa4 interface from the pc. I just don't understand my I can not ping the broadband router, I even added a static route to the netgear with no luck.

On the day of the switch I lost my internet and have not had it since.Countless calls to AOL, line checks done and all showing as clear. Technician out today and no internal faults found.The internet light on the router is flashing orange, occassionally turning green but not holding. Router problems have been ruled out. Laptop shows communication with router but there is no internet access. This can not be a coincidence, I am sure something has gone wrong on the day of the switch since that is when the problem started.I am in really close range of the exchange and technician said I have good conectivity and wondered if there was a conflict issue somewhere.

The network sharing center confirms I am connected to my network, and that I am connected to the internet; however, I can not connect to the internet with IE, chrome, or any other internet-based application. The icon in the bottom right also says I have internet access. As well, another ethernet-connected PC in the house works just fine, and my laptop has no trouble connecting through the wireless. When I do an ipconfig /all the Connection-specific DNS Suffix is missing. Not sure if that is part of the issue. Jan 20, 2013I connected EA6500 internet port to actiontec router provided by Verizon fios. I don't have any other way to connect as FIOS connection is coax to actiontec modem. I must take a drop from actiontec to internet port on EA6500.
With that said, I can't get EA6500 to work, it keeps saying no internet. The only way I can get it to work is when I set it to bridge mode. This makes my EA6500 a dumb switch/access point. I didn't spend $200 for a switch. I need to use advanced features offered by this router but I can't until this problem is fixed. I made sure I am running latest version of firmware (1.1.28.146856).
I have reset my fios router as well as ea6500 to factory defaults multiple times.

I can, however, get to the internet via a wired connection to the router via the Realtek NIC. This has been the only computer that I've been unable to connect to my network and to the internet. It was connected to a different router before and connected easily but that router went bad so I replaced it with the E1000.Don't know if it's the wireless adapter that's bad or something else.

I am using Wireles and LAN.My router was Netgear DG843N which was intermittently dropping the connection to the net. I tried corrective action but the problem continued.On the advice from Netgear tyech support,I tried just using LAN - that didn't work. Then they suggested using another router,so I purchased a Netgear DGN1000 Router.This did not resiolve the problem so I contacted Netgear who suggested several things to do.As the XP was connecting to the router both wireless and LAN we decided that it was not a router problem.All of my devices attached o the router ( printer - Vista pc- Win 7 laptop)are working correctly,just the XP pc that is not.
