I'm connecting to the internet using a wireless connection but i can't go online on either of my messengers nor go on the web using any of my browser but i can download things using my torrent programs(Bitcomet),I'm using an Acer laptop with 4gb DDR3 and Win 7.

My nana has just got a second hand laptop (refurbished) which we cannot get connected to the internet. She has tried it at her own home and also at ours. Both houses have working internet connections. The wireless says it is connected with excellent signal strength but when you try and open up Internet explorer, nothing happens. Sometimes you end up with a page cannot be displayed error and sometime it just stays white with the 'waiting for reply' status up. The top and bottom bars say that the web site has been found but then nothing. When trying to diagnose the problem using the tool on 'page cannot be displayed' I get the following error. [code] I have tried connecting the laptop to the router directly using the ethernet cable but a bubble appears saying 'limited or no connectivity'.I have checked that nothing is ticked in proxy settings too.

View 13 Replies View RelatedSo I'm trying to fix gateway laptop running Vista. The computer can connect both wired and wirelessly to the internet just fine. Sadly that's all it does. It doesn't let you use IE/Firefox/Skype or video games or anything. Every program acts like you're not connected. All signs seem to point towards it working just fine. I'm at a loss and can't figure out what's wrong with it.
Also, the internet works just fine if you start in safe mode with networking. You can use IE/Firefox just fine. I've tried turning off proxies and such but there aren't any as far as I can tell.
I am trying to figure out why or what is preventing my uncle's laptop to connect via the Ieee connection. The netcard says it is installed and the troubleshooting checks ok. the message is "cable not connected" I've checked the cable and is good.

My netbook works very well in my home network but when I brought it to my workplace, I was unable to connect to the internet eventhough I could connect to the wireless network. Other computers and laptops were able to connect and use the internet well using the same router. I tried manually configuring my IP and default gateway based on what I read but nothing worked.

I am having trouble keeping my computer connected to the internet...even though it says my signal strength from my wireless internet is excellent. every time i get online i put in my url and it loads the page but if i click on anything on that page it asks me to connect again even though my computer says im still connected.

I can ping the netgear router from the 861, however, when I connect my PC to it, I am unable to ping let alone connect to the internet, the PC is getting an IP from the 861 and I can ping the fa4 interface from the pc. I just don't understand my I can not ping the broadband router, I even added a static route to the netgear with no luck.

I have tested connecting smart phone-to-PC through VNC before while I was still in my home office in Scandinavia and it used to work.
(When I hover over the TightVNC icon on the PC it says 192.168.1.10, 192.168.71.1, 192.168.163.1 (no auth!). Not sure if that's relevant.
The cell phone just says "connecting..." but nothing happens. Have been trying to solve this on my own for too long. I have tried adjusting settings but no luck so far.
I'm have a D-Link DIR-615 Wireless N 300 Router. I didn't use the CD it comes with to set up the network. Instead I configured it manually through the router's settings that are accessed via a web browser.
The main changes I made are:
Secured the router so that a password is required before clients can use the wireless internet. Broadcasting 802.11N only (not B or G).
I can connect to the router just fine and I'm able to access the internet. The only problem is that I don't see any of the other computers in my LAN. When I try connecting to another Wi-Fi router that I have (which is connected to the same network), I can see all of the computer's on my LAN just fine. Therefore, I'm guessing that the reason I can't connect to the LAN is not a problem with my computer and is a problem with the router instead.
I'm on a MacBook Air running Mac OS X 10.6.6.
I have a PC running XP connected to a Huawei HG 520b router via an Ethernet Cable. A printer is connected to the PC using a USB cable. A Notebook running Vista connects to the Router via WiFi. I would like to print directly from the Notebook using the Printer which is connected to my PC. Is this possible and if so what do I have to do?
