Bought my new Sony Vaio today that of course came with Windows 8. I have completed the setup and installed Norton 360 and Office and tried (unsuccessfully) to uninstall McAfee. Now when i boot up the computer the WI-FI connects (with a full, four bar connection) however, when i try and open IE or the store, I get a connection issue saying there is no internet access. I am using the same Wi-fi network to post this on this forum, so it seems the issue must be on the Vaio side?

I have a couple of computers in my house that work fine with my wireless router, but all of a sudden, my roommate's computer, a Dell Inspiron with Windows 7, is connection to the wireless network but has "no internet access." I've rebooted th.e modem and router, to no avail. I've also tried a number of suggestions online, but without success. My friend's computer has McAfee, with which I'm unfamiliar. The only real difference I cn see between our computers is that she has a different wireless card.
Have a new Gateway laptop running W8. I have to use Windows diagnostics in Sharing centre to reset the connection although it looks like it is still up.( page cannot be displayed ). Once reset and fixe all is ok until pc goes into sleep mode, then I have to reset again.
I've got a refurbished lenovo Y470 notebook, just out of the box. I was planning on spending the day configuring it, removing bloatware, ect. but I can't acces the internet. I'm at work, there is a guest wireless network for us, I can connect with my phone so the network is up. I was able to connect normally to my home network last night, not sure why I can't connect here. Running win 7 home premium.
My wifi that is connected but no internet but works fine for my iphone and other housemates in my house. Im able to connect using a housemate internet through wifi.[URL]
I'm using a laptop with windows 7. I can connect to wireless connection at home and elsewhere. However, when I'm at my boyfriend's place, I can't seem to get on the internet. It shows connected but it doesn't allow me to get onto any site. I've tried searching for answers, cleared dns and all sorts of possible solutions but none works.
I had bought three modems but when i connect them through wifi they are connected but shows no internet acess.so i am using bsnl brdbnd through wire.but iwant to connect through netgear DGN1000. WIFI
I have an HP Mini running windows xp. When its connected to wifi everywhere else it works but this new place it will not allow my internet to bring up anything.
I have a cisco(linksys) E4200v2 which my NIC card recognizes but am unable to connect to internet. cannot connect via cable as 6to4 adapter and ISATAP adapter will not start when cabled to router
Using Windows XP. Wireless was working fine at my home wireless but "internet not working" in friend's wireless network. Wireless Connection shows connected and Packets Sent/Received is increasing but not able to connect to internet or ping.
I'm running a HP Mini 110 1191eo laptop with Windows 7 Starter. Every time I open up a browser, EI or Firefox, it says that it cannot display the webpage etc. The weird thing is however that the connection bar is showing full connection to the wireless internet! The connection should be up and running, but I can't get anything on any browser.I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers for the network cards, both wireless and ethernet, but no luck. I don't what to do, as I'm no expert on these computer matters.Oh yeah, another weird thing: this laptop offers some kind of program before Windows loads, where you can perform basic stuff like connect to the internet, check your mail etc. Here I can connect via the wireless network! But not in Windows when I load it up.
I just switched to Comcast cable internet with newly purchased cable modem and D-Link Dir 601 router. After setting up the modem and router, I can connect to router via wireless with three PCs that all running Window7 OS and go on line. The problems that I have are with PCs (two of them) that run Windows XP. One of them is the PC that I use to set up the cable modem and router with Ethernet. I can not use wireless connection to go online with it. The wireless is connected but it gives me a message "no server found ..." in browser window. The 2nd PC running WinXp also says wireless is connected, but I can not go online. The followings are the results of running ipconfig /all for 2nd PC[CODE]
I have a HP laptop that is running on Windows 7. Up until a few weeks ago the internet was working fine, but all of a sudden it stopped. The built-in WIFI says it's connected to the internet and when I try to repair it just says "problem could not be found." All the other computers in the house work (I'm currently on one of them). Also, when I bring it to my friends house, my laptop is still the only one that doesn't work?
At first, it says "limited or no connectivity" and after reading possible solutions, it now says connected and has a very good signal but once I open Mozilla or Google Chrome, there's no internet connection. The icon doesn't also have that blue light that I think is an indication that it has internet connection. My roommate can connect to this wifi with no problems, her notebook is Acer, just like mine. We also have a wifi at home and it connects smoothly. I don't why I'm having problems with this aztech wifi here. Btw, I do not own this wifi or router. It's like an open network.
My laptop connected to internet with wifi, but it cannot use even my laptop detect connected, when i run trobleshooter it's show 'no valid IP address' even i already set up to automatically detect , restart my wifi router and unplug doesn't make any changes
connect my PC/tablet with wifi router, I have bought wifi router which works with USB modem, when i connect my USB Modem i can see all the lights up (singnal- wifi, 2g/3g) and also showing in my laptop that is connect to wifi but unable to open the internet.
i just recently moved my computer to a new house the wifi adapter is picking up the correct wifi and connecting to it but not accessing the internet there is also no network access. i completed an ipconfig/all the details are below.
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7601] Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. C:UsersKate>IPCONFIG/ALL Windows IP Configuration Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : Kate-PC Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . : Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid
I've reset the tcp/ip protocols but still im connected to the router but cant access internet I have the latest drivers for my network adapter. I am using windows 7 starter edition.
I just bought a laptop installed with Windows 8. I want to connect my iPhone to the Internet through the laptop. I have tried using Connectify to set up a WiFi hotspot. It works only with WEP and my iPhone can connect to the Internet but my iPhone disconnects from the hotspot after a while and I need to restart my Connectify hotspot, which is really annoying.I googled online and find that I can use the netsh command to set up the hotspot. I run command prompt in administrator mode and type in the following:
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=adhocnetwork key=password
netsh wlan start hostednetwork
And then I share the wired network through control panel > network connections > ethernet > properties.I connect my iPhone to the hosted network and typed in the password. I see a tick next to the SSID, meaning it can connect to the hosted network.I also check the status of the hosted network. Both IPv4 and IPv6 connectivity show Internet. But when I open Safari on my iPhone, it says no Internet.
I have an Asus U31JG with WIndows 7 64-bit. This laptop is a month old to me and the wireless has been acting up since the day I got it, will explain below. I believe my home network is the problem. I have a Linksys WRT54G with WPA Personal encryption. Multiple times a day my internet quits working even though Windows says it has full connection to my router. To fix this, I open command prompt and use "ipconfig /release" and "ipconfig /renew". This fixes the problem for me, it may be a minute or a few hours. The problem is very intermittent and only happens at my home which is why I believe it is my network. However, I changed the wireless channel to 1, the only one around on that channel and tried different security settings. My WiFi works flawlessly if I take my laptop to my friends house where he has a Netgear router. I have also tried a brand new Cisco Router as well as a Netgear router at my house.
I've re installed the driver twice, and the same problem persists in Linux only I just have to disable/enable wireless.
Note: When the internet quits working on my laptop it works on other devices so it is not the internet connection causing this. And my internet is very slow when it is working on my laptop via wireless.
I have a Gateway NV59 that I had not used for some time. Recently I started to use it, and I cannot connect to any web pages. I am connected to my wireless network. I have tried all the diagnostic tests I can find on my laptop, and they do not identify the problem. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium. I have Explorer, Safari, and Firefox browsers and non of them will work.
I just bought a new router and i'm not able to access the internet on one of my laptops even though on the laptop it shows that its connected with full bars, it doesnt have this problem with the other routers i use. Also all my other computers are able to access the internet on this new router.
I was connected to a wifi-spot for two weeks and it worked all fine. Since a few days ago the owner of the spot changed the password and since then I can't connect to my internet anymore. I'm 100% sure that I have the right password but still when I try to connect it shows a yellow triangle with a black "!" on top of it, saying "Limited or no internet connectivity"[CODE]
On my phone I connected to the wireless network but the internet won't work apparently you have to do something with a proxy and type in a router code.
The network is "connected" but the internet still does not work. I have wireless internet and a Windows Vista computer. It also says the network is unidentified.
I bought my laptop 4 weeks ago. It has Windows 8 on it. It worked great until this week. At first, Google Chrome quit working. Then IE quit. I connect wirelessly. It says it is strong, but no Internet access. I do have connectivity on my phone to that router.
I have a hp laptop, it's about two years old. I can connect to my wireless network, but i have no internet access. I also have a macbook, and it's accessing my wireless network perfectly fine.
My router does not have a password ( yes, i know, pretty dumb of me)
Im having a problem with connecting to the internet. I have an hp media center pc running XP, ive hooked it up with a ethernet wire and it looks like its connected and alot of activity but when i click on internet explorer it says "web page cannot be displayed"
She has an older HP Vista laptop that connects to the internet just fine (including downloading updates, connecting to messenger clients, etc.), but it will not connect to any of her browsers...
1. I understand firewalls can throw huge issues, I am pretty sure this is where the problem lies. She was using Ad-aware and I am pretty sure that the window that popped up that she clicked switched her firewall settings back to default and left something weird in the system. When I try to disable Windows firewall and go back to Ad-aware it won't let me exit snooze. It asks if I confirm and when I do nothing happens.
2. I have done a winsock reset and made sure that the proxy boxes are unchecked to make sure there isn't a proxy problem.
3. The ipconfig/reset threw no errors, everything looks fine.
4. No hardware conflicts or errors reported in device manager and all drivers are up to date. Again since the internet is actually working minus the browser I don't think it is a hardware issue.
5. No virus detected. Symantec is loaded on the laptop did a run with that, also have AVG that I installed and ran (disabled one and did the other, never run simultaneously). AVG is now uninstalled as Symantec is disabled to avoid any conflict with AdAware.
Is there any way to completely disable all firewalls, remove any settings or registries (if any), and start from scratch with it? Also, as networking is by far my weak point, is there anything I need to check as far as the DNS is concerned?
