View 7 RepliesI ran into a bit of an issue today while testing a vpn software on a virtual machine(win7); I successfully connected to vpn, then the connection dropped and since with the vpn connection another ip address was assigned, now I'm unable to communicate with that VM.
I am able to find it in SCCM via hostname, but can't reboot it or start anything on it.
I have a wrt160n router set up at a friends house that i would connect my windows xp laptor to when i would go there. it always worked fine. i recently got a new laptop with vista 64 bit OS. i went to my friends today and connected via wireless for the first time. i expected to get prompted for the security key. instead it asked for the pin #. the pin number was something new i noticed when i replaced an older linksys with the new wrt160n so i had it in my notes. i entered the pin number and connected to the wireless router. but then my friend laptop could not connect and said it couldnt find the network. when i viewed the available networks, i noticed that the original network SSID had been changed to my vista laptop's computer name. i had to physically connect my laptop to the router and reconfigure the settings of the wireless network. then my friend was able to see the available network and automatically connect..

So I have a small motorola router and it's wireless so if I hook it up to the original 2WIRE that has blocked wifi do you think I can get wifi off the second router with no password troubles or would I have to buy a special router that has no password? I don't know a lot about computers. And my Meyer has a password on our computer so I can't log on. so if I just hook up the 2nd router and possibly get WiFi do I need to do anything such as setup on the computer or can I plug it in and just go?

I connect to my home wifi network and will have excellent signal strength, but after about 20 minutes or so, I will lose internet access, but will stay connected to my wifi network. If I join my neighbor's wifi network I will have the same issue.I will connect to a network, and while still connected, I will suddenly lose internet access (signal strength will remain the same). Switching networks doesn't correct the problem.
When I lose internet, I can disconnect from the network and reconnect mere seconds later and will have the internet access back again.I have reset the modem/router and my computer numerous times but the problem does not go away.
I have an Asus U31JG with WIndows 7 64-bit. This laptop is a month old to me and the wireless has been acting up since the day I got it, will explain below. I believe my home network is the problem. I have a Linksys WRT54G with WPA Personal encryption. Multiple times a day my internet quits working even though Windows says it has full connection to my router. To fix this, I open command prompt and use "ipconfig /release" and "ipconfig /renew". This fixes the problem for me, it may be a minute or a few hours. The problem is very intermittent and only happens at my home which is why I believe it is my network. However, I changed the wireless channel to 1, the only one around on that channel and tried different security settings. My WiFi works flawlessly if I take my laptop to my friends house where he has a Netgear router. I have also tried a brand new Cisco Router as well as a Netgear router at my house.
I've re installed the driver twice, and the same problem persists in Linux only I just have to disable/enable wireless.
Note: When the internet quits working on my laptop it works on other devices so it is not the internet connection causing this. And my internet is very slow when it is working on my laptop via wireless.
On the D-Link it was easy, I can see who is connected to which radio.But I can't figure out how to see who is connected to WiFi on hte E4200?I run several access points in my house, and I need to make sure htey are all working.If I can't see who, if any, is connected, I have no idea if WiFi on the E4200 is working.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy E3000 has been working fine with 1.0.04 build 6 FW. Recently some devices (kindle, iPad) can't connect to internet while connected to E3000 via WiFi network. Had a look my E3000 router IP is 192.168.0.1 but those problematic devices has IP 192.168.1.XXX allocated by DHCP not sure why. Currently I manually set up static IP 192.168.0.XXX for those devices.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe wireless router, which is a linksys E1200 is completely new. I setup the entire wireless and there was no problems on that front.The problem is the wireless connection. Even when I am within a few inches of the router, I couldn't even load a youtube video properly. It buffers every 2 seconds. But when I plug the cable into my computer, it works completely fine. The signal strength is excellent all the time.
I tried using inSSIDer to look for the number of connections within my area for the one with the least inteference and found that I'm already on the good one, or actually, all of them looked more or less the same. But I tried changing anyways from 1 to 6 to 11, and none of them made a difference.I then tried changing my Wireless Security to WPA2 Personal. Then I tried changing the Wireless Network Mode to Wireless-G Only instead of Mixed and the wireless speed increased.
I have Comcast cable internet routed through a linksys E3000 router. My desktop is connected to my router via ethernet and my various other devices including my laptop are wifi connected. It seems almost at random that my desktop will lose its connection.Windows will show me as still being connected and my network connection will show a normal status until I atttempt to repair it then it will change to limited or no connectivity. Through all of this, my other devices all still have a wifi signal (I don't use more than 1 or 2 at the same time). I can reconnect to the internet by unplugging my ethernet cable then reuplugging it back in and my connection will start working again. I've also had several blue screens, and when I checked the dmp files it revealed my network card driver as the culprit, yet I have reinstalled and even clean installed the microsoft signed driver. I have also attempted to reboot both my modem and router to no avail.

I have experienced some strange behavior of WiFi connection using WRT320N router. ISP provides me the internet in 2 modes (day and night). During day mode max speed is 24 Mb/s and during night 60 MB/s. Modem ADSL (Cisco EPC3010) is connected to Linksys WRT320N and on router is configured WiFi.Now issue. In the day mode everything is perfect. Cable connection gives me 24 MB/s and WiFi connection around 22 MB/s so not so bad. However when my internet speeds up to 60 Mb/s (cable connection via router gives exactly 60), WiFi connection instead speed up as well, just drop to max 17 Mb/s. I have tied several different settings on the router including changes in WiFi band, channel width, different channels (now channel is setup to 1 which is maybe not totally free but no so occupied) and others but unfortunately without significant improvement (in many cases connection just slowed down more).

Band: 2.4GHz
Mode: Wireless-N only
Channel Width: Auto (20MHz or 40 MHz)

I bought a Sonos multiroom-system, and connected the first player to my E2000 router through Ethernet. It then gets a dynamic address through DHCP, I can see the Sonos within the network when looking in the admin tool of the router.When I start the Sonos controller software on my PC (XP), the software can not find the Sonos when my PC is connected through Wifi.As soon as I connect PC to the router with ethernet cable the Sonos is found immediately and can be initialised. After that, I can disconnect the cable and control the Sonos wirelessly. (as long as I don't close down the controller software for too long)
From what I understood from the sonos.com website, the Sonos sends an UPnP multicast signal on port for SSDP on port 1900 for initial connection. Further communications port are described below.Somehow, this multicast package seems not to be transferred into the wireless LAN, only into the wired LAN. Do I have to open some ports, filter some ports?Forward them?
i tried using the internet on my ipod but my wifii network wasnt connected so i went to my wifi settings on my ipod and the network name and password were changed. i tried resetting my router but nothing happened and i still cant get wifi on my ipod.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed this Linksys E1500 yesterday and have had a problem keeping my iPhone 4 and an iPod Touch connected to WiFi.The devices go to sleep. When I swipe the screen and "bring them back" the WiFi is Not Connected. I have to go in and re-enter my network password again. As long as the devices don't go to sleep, they maintain connectivity. Once connected they function properly.
The iPad 2 & Samsung Galaxy S phone we have seem to be keeping their WiFi connectivity, as well as a G62 HP laptop running Windows 7, an older XP machine using a Cisco AE1000 wireless network adaptor and the Xbox 360. The issue is just with the iPhone 4(ios 5) and the iPod Touch(ios 4).
I had issues with the iPad and the Galaxy phone until i disabled WMM Support in App & Gaming.I would bring this back to the retailer but I had it sitting on my desk for about 30 days and it's past their return policy.The firmware is up to date on the Router. I've tried power cycling all the devices including the cable modem & the new router.
I used to play online games with GameSpy. Suddenly, GameSpy Arcade just won't connect anymore, and i also noticed that almost everything related to GameSpy is blocked in my entire network. The only GameSpy site i can connect is gamespy.com, but GameSpy forums and gamespyarcade.com are blocked. I haven't changed any network settings, and i've tried to connect without firewall and without avast antivirus, but it just won't work. The only way i can get to those sites is through a proxy, i think that means that THEY are blocking me, and not my own network, right?

The 192.168.1.0/24 network contains some hosts that ip can not be changed. We want redesign the network and communicate with both networks without routers. I thougnt about changing the netmask for 192.168.1.0/24 in 192.168.1.0/22 (1022 hosts) and change IP's in the 10.0.0.0/24 network in 192.168.2.0/22.

B1 for about 2 years, and it's been working without a problem.Suddenly yesterday, I could not connect to the internet from my 2 laptop & blackberry.SSID & signal reception looks normal. On checking into the router's web interface, I noticed that the network key was changed into something else.....normal character like y2tz39s.
I'm being very curious. Has it been hacked ? Is it possible?I'm using WAP/WAP2 Security Setting for wireless connection.All other settings seems intact (firewall & even the SSID). Only the password was mysteriously changed. If I consider it being hacked, I wonder why the hacker didn't mess up all other settings ?
Changed from D-Link to Netgear router now only one of two computers cannot see the other. Error shows cannot connect to MSHOME network, need administrative approval. Computers are ethernet connected to the router. Have McAffe and both computers are "Trusted" Can do a search with XP and it shows the missing computer but unable to make a connection.

When the Canon iRC 2880 printer is connected the server gives a error saying that a duplicate name exits in the network. I tried changing the IP address as well. When I changed the IP address of the printer the duplicate IP address moved the new IP address.

I went on speedtest.net and compared the download speeds between my old ISP and the new one and it turns out it was the same; 7mbps. View 6 Replies View RelatedI have manually configured the E2000 and set the admin password. When I was trying to log back in, I could not. I reset and reconfigured and set the password again. I still could not log in using "admin" and the password I set up. I thought I was losing my mind. Just on a hunch, I used the SSID name instead of "admin", then entered the password that worked. I am able to login, but I need the username to be admin, not the SSID. Has anyine else had this issue? Any way to change the administrator name back to admin??

Now the router stops transmitting a signal intermittently for about a minute before coming back on line. The time between droppages is also not the same. Before the firmware upgrade (and the change in security settings) the router was rock solid. Where I can get the older version of the firmware (which seems to be more stable than the current version)?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI used to have this exact setup with 2 wrt610ns i believe was the model number, i have one at my house, connected to my dsl, and then another in my "man cave" connected by a approximately 250 foot buried outdoor cat6 cable, inside of conduit of course. Last week both routers along with my modem were fried during a storm, so now i rebuilt the network with 2 e4200s, i hooked everything up and b4 i even had a chance to set my network up like i had to do b4 (a 192.168.10.1 subnet in the mancave) everything was already getting internet, however i cannot access the web based setup for the 2nd router (mancave) the dhcp client table shows it with an address of 192.168.1.139. even if i disconnect, reset the 2nd router and set it up on a 192.168.10.1 address as soon as i connect it to the main router, it goes right back to the .1.139 ip address. the only problem i have with this is that i would like to have the freedom to change my wifi passwords or edit other settings on my network without having to disconnect from the main router everytime, assuming that will work and i wont have to do a hard reset in order to get the router back to a default ip. the cable connecting the 2 routers goes from a lan port on the 1st router to the internet port on the 2nd.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys E3000, have had it successfully connected for three months now. Recently I attempted to connect my xbox 360 to the wifi and had issues connecting it. So I called ATT to obtain the PPPoE username and password, which they reluctantly gave me. Entered that into the xbox and still unable to connect, so I have given up on the xbox for the time being, I'll post that issue in a different forum. Where my issue is now is since contacting ATT the WPA2 password I set up for the router no longer works. I cannot access the router setup page, and I cannot add any new wifi devices. Although, all of the previously connected wifi devices are still connected to the router despite this issue. Is there anyway to make the old password work, or do I have to reset the router and start from scratch, and God forbid contact ATT again?
View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently, I bought the E3200, and tried to configure its ports for gaming. Yet, whenever I would hit save settings, it would say my settings were saved, then return me to the settings page. But the settings would be blank. I tried downloading firmware from the website (which should say September 28), yet it still says I am running the firmware from September 1st, even after I applied the upgrade and followed through with the 50 second reboot process.
So, I guess my final question for any tech savvy person out there is "What is wrong with my router/firmware?" I am running the browser config in the most recent Firefox on the same MacBook I used to install the router, and haven't changed any settings other than the SSID and password.
