I had to change from a WRT300N wireless router which died to a new E2500. I noticed that the speed my computers report that they are connected to the wireless network connection is now 144.5 mps, versus 270 mps with the WRT300N. There is no change in location of the devices or computers. The computers use a WUSB300N adapter.Is there a setting or setup that needs to be changed?

View 9 Replies View RelatedDue to the way I have my DSL and VOIP TA configured I need to be able to set the subnet mask in the Internet connection. I am currently using the Static IP, putting in an IP of 192.168.1.x with the subnet of 255.255.0.0 when I try to do this it gives me an error saying that 192.168.33.1/255 is reserved for the guest network. I am not using the 33 at all ANYWHERE. If I change the subnet to 255.255.255.0 it will save but I can't connect to the internet with it. My router I just bought today is the E2500 I have an old Linksys WRT model that worked fine with this exact setup for several years before it crashed on me.

I inserted the installation disc and started going through the process, but my hard drive on my MacBook so I couldn't finish setting up the router. View 1 Replies View RelatedSlingbox no longer uses software, but is now web based. I got a new computer and when I go to the site it can't locate my slingbox on their network.
When I go to the site and sign in, it loads the application but then scolls as it looks for my box on the network until it times out. Slingbox directory shows my slingbox, but it says unconfigured.
I called tech support, where I was told my 90 days for free support had expired 2 weeks ago. The port forwarding instructions I found on the internet made references to going into the router and selecting port range forwarding and have start and end port of 5100 and then enable that port.
When I go to support on the slingmedia page, it displays my slingbox with Slingbox status alert, software warning. Instructions state go to slingmedia site and look for update, but if my box is not on thier directory, I can't download update.

I can't connect to my setup page [url]... I get to the page that says..."There is a problem with this website's security certificate." Then I click the "continue to this website (not recommended). After this it will not connect

Internet still works. PC is connected directly to router. Tried different port on router. Tried installing CiscoConnect.E2500.1.4.11299.0,0, but it fails saying there is no router connected to PC. Like I said I am on the PC now, wired to router and have internet access via cable modem connected to router. I can see my ireless printer on the network also..

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys E3000, have had it successfully connected for three months now. Recently I attempted to connect my xbox 360 to the wifi and had issues connecting it. So I called ATT to obtain the PPPoE username and password, which they reluctantly gave me. Entered that into the xbox and still unable to connect, so I have given up on the xbox for the time being, I'll post that issue in a different forum. Where my issue is now is since contacting ATT the WPA2 password I set up for the router no longer works. I cannot access the router setup page, and I cannot add any new wifi devices. Although, all of the previously connected wifi devices are still connected to the router despite this issue. Is there anyway to make the old password work, or do I have to reset the router and start from scratch, and God forbid contact ATT again?

I went on speedtest.net and compared the download speeds between my old ISP and the new one and it turns out it was the same; 7mbps. View 7 Replies View RelatedI have manually configured the E2000 and set the admin password. When I was trying to log back in, I could not. I reset and reconfigured and set the password again. I still could not log in using "admin" and the password I set up. I thought I was losing my mind. Just on a hunch, I used the SSID name instead of "admin", then entered the password that worked. I am able to login, but I need the username to be admin, not the SSID. Has anyine else had this issue? Any way to change the administrator name back to admin??
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded the firmware on my wrt 160N v3 and changed the wireless security to WPA2 Personal from WEP (I needed to do this to get higher speeds from a recently purchased wireless adapter). Now the router stops transmitting a signal intermittently for about a minute before coming back on line. The time between droppages is also not the same. Before the firmware upgrade (and the change in security settings) the router was rock solid. Where I can get the older version of the firmware (which seems to be more stable than the current version)?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a wrt160n router set up at a friends house that i would connect my windows xp laptor to when i would go there. it always worked fine. i recently got a new laptop with vista 64 bit OS. i went to my friends today and connected via wireless for the first time. i expected to get prompted for the security key. instead it asked for the pin #. the pin number was something new i noticed when i replaced an older linksys with the new wrt160n so i had it in my notes. i entered the pin number and connected to the wireless router. but then my friend laptop could not connect and said it couldnt find the network. when i viewed the available networks, i noticed that the original network SSID had been changed to my vista laptop's computer name. i had to physically connect my laptop to the router and reconfigure the settings of the wireless network. then my friend was able to see the available network and automatically connect..

Yet, whenever I would hit save settings, it would say my settings were saved, then return me to the settings page. But the settings would be blank. I tried downloading firmware from the website (which should say September 28), yet it still says I am running the firmware from September 1st, even after I applied the upgrade and followed through with the 50 second reboot process.
So, I guess my final question for any tech savvy person out there is "What is wrong with my router/firmware?" I am running the browser config in the most recent Firefox on the same MacBook I used to install the router, and haven't changed any settings other than the SSID and password.
I'm currently setting the MAC address filtering for my Linksys E2500 router. I have about 20 devices which i'm allowing to access my router, so i keyed in the MAC addresses into the config page and save setting. But only 16 addresses are registered, the rest refused to register no matter how many times i key in, it just reset back to 00:00:00:00:00:00 after i click on save setting.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI previously entered in settings for the "Static DNS" 1 through 3 (using ip addresses from OpenDNS and one from Google DNS).
I want to remove these so the router reverts to using the DNS allocated to it by the ADSL modem (which will likely be the IP of the modem, which then forwards the requests to the DNS from the ISP).But I can't clear the Static DNS settings. I have to put in 0.0.0.0 but the last zero is not accessed. I get the error: The value is out of range [1 - 254].So I end up with 0.0.0.1 and then all Internet access is lost on the computers because they are being given a bad DNS IP.
How can I reset the static DNS ip address back to 0.0.0.0 ?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to add my E2500 as a second wireless router to cover my entire house.I have a Motorola Surfboard SBG6580 cable modem (Time-Warner) at one end of the house.I added via powerline Ethernet connection a new E2500 wireless router at the other end of the house.The E2500 set-up with all defaults and has the same SSID and Password as the Surfboard cable modem.It seems to work OK, but I wonder about network confusion/interference.Do I have to configure the E2500 in some manner to allow seamless roaming of my wireless devices (iPad, Cell Phones, Netbook)?I had an RE1000 with just the Surfboard, but it did not quite do the trick, and does not like both routers connected at either end.

The E2500 has an LAN IP of 10.0.0.2 and the router has 10.0.0.1 and a dhcp range outside of these. DHCP is disabled on the E2500. I can use my E2500 as a wired access point with no difficulty I plug something in and it calls the router and gets an address, but I can not get DHCP through the wireless of the E2500.

My internet was disconnecting sporadically. After connecting the new router, a started getting the same issue. I replaced my internet cable modem to a Cisco 2100 modem (provided by Time Warner). View 2 Replies View RelatedI am working with vpn setups for the first time. I would like to be able to connect to a computer on a home network through a linksys E2500 router. I have found alot of documentation on connecting to an external vpn from a computer on the lan side of the router, but nothing on connecting from the outside in. The router does have a static ip address with my internet provider, so I can contact the router from the outside. But makeing the connection to the computer on the other side of the router is where I am missing something or I dont realize that it is not possible. On the LAN side I am using DHCP to assign the address to the computer I want to connect to. Perhaps I need to make it have a static address also? I realize that when I configure the connection from the outside that I need to direct the connection to the remote computer in some way, unless vpn connections are fully passed through the router and the connection issue I am having is with the "inside" computer.
