Linksys Wireless Router :: How To Setup TPLink / TD-W8101G With Cisco E2500
Jan 15, 2012
I have IBM X3200 M3 ( with onboard 2 LAN ) not connected into internet,tplink modem router + wireless ( ADSL MODEM )--->cisco E2500---->ibm x3200 m3( ubuntu )
I am trying to setup a WAP with my linksys 2500. I am currently using a Gateway connected to my DSL and am looking to set up the access point through the E2500.
I just purchased a new E2500 and I am unable to setup internet viewing with it. I have went in and done the port forwarding and still I have not had any success.
Slingbox no longer uses software, but is now web based. I got a new computer and when I go to the site it can't locate my slingbox on their network.
When I go to the site and sign in, it loads the application but then scolls as it looks for my box on the network until it times out. Slingbox directory shows my slingbox, but it says unconfigured.
I called tech support, where I was told my 90 days for free support had expired 2 weeks ago. The port forwarding instructions I found on the internet made references to going into the router and selecting port range forwarding and have start and end port of 5100 and then enable that port.
When I go to support on the slingmedia page, it displays my slingbox with Slingbox status alert, software warning. Instructions state go to slingmedia site and look for update, but if my box is not on thier directory, I can't download update.

I can't connect to my setup page [url]... I get to the page that says..."There is a problem with this website's security certificate." Then I click the "continue to this website (not recommended). After this it will not connect
Tried with IE9 and Firefox 11
Firefox says "The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading."
Internet still works. PC is connected directly to router. Tried different port on router. Tried installing CiscoConnect.E2500.1.4.11299.0,0, but it fails saying there is no router connected to PC. Like I said I am on the PC now, wired to router and have internet access via cable modem connected to router. I can see my ireless printer on the network also..
I had to change from a WRT300N wireless router which died to a new E2500. I noticed that the speed my computers report that they are connected to the wireless network connection is now 144.5 mps, versus 270 mps with the WRT300N. There is no change in location of the devices or computers. The computers use a WUSB300N adapter. Is there a setting or setup that needs to be changed?
I just bought an E2500. Wanted to set it up in bridge mode. I can't seem to find any way of doing this.Cisco Knowledge Base article # 4194 shows what I am attempting to do.
I have used wireless routers in the past...but have just purchased a Cisco E2500. When attempting to set it up using the CD I am asked to assign name + password.....I do this and but the ?? is unable to find the router. This despite the fact that it is 8 ft. away and showing up with 5 bars on my networks available display. When I attempt to connect without going thru the setup it asks me for the password which is part of the setup process..
I've got a a tp-link TL-WR741ND, but I don't have a ADSL2+MODEM ROUTER, (ADLS MODEM). Instead I've got a orange usb modem, how can I install the device?

Recently my wireless router has started disconnecting again and again...Whenever I connect it to my desktop and laptop (sometimes iphone), it disconnects in between which causes a lot of delay .The work which could be completed in minutes takes hours. Here is my current system log from the router : code...
What is the most recommended set up for my routers? I have 5 routers, 1 linksys ea4500 which will be my main, and 4 linksys e2500 as my access points... what i want is that they are all in the same network and only one ssid? Is it possible? what will be my wiring connections? can it be on series or all routers connected to 1 main router?
I hav bsnl broadband connection in my home.... I connected a tplink wired for browsing...I also have a belkin wireless router..... I connected those routers.... And only wired communication is possible
I'm currently setting the MAC address filtering for my Linksys E2500 router. I have about 20 devices which i'm allowing to access my router, so i keyed in the MAC addresses into the config page and save setting. But only 16 addresses are registered, the rest refused to register no matter how many times i key in, it just reset back to 00:00:00:00:00:00 after i click on save setting.
I previously entered in settings for the "Static DNS" 1 through 3 (using ip addresses from OpenDNS and one from Google DNS). I want to remove these so the router reverts to using the DNS allocated to it by the ADSL modem (which will likely be the IP of the modem, which then forwards the requests to the DNS from the ISP).But I can't clear the Static DNS settings. I have to put in 0.0.0.0 but the last zero is not accessed. I get the error: The value is out of range [1 - 254].So I end up with 0.0.0.1 and then all Internet access is lost on the computers because they are being given a bad DNS IP.
How can I reset the static DNS ip address back to 0.0.0.0 ?
I have a WISP internet connection. i have a Acess point tplink tl-wa5110g . i set it to wisp client router... My final goal is to share my wisp internet wirelesly.

i buy a new e2500 from staples. but when i try to register the product. it shows me "Serial Number you entered is invalid.". i am sure i choose the right product and number to register.. so is that mean some one used it..
I want to add my E2500 as a second wireless router to cover my entire house.I have a Motorola Surfboard SBG6580 cable modem (Time-Warner) at one end of the house.I added via powerline Ethernet connection a new E2500 wireless router at the other end of the house. The E2500 set-up with all defaults and has the same SSID and Password as the Surfboard cable modem. It seems to work OK, but I wonder about network confusion/interference.Do I have to configure the E2500 in some manner to allow seamless roaming of my wireless devices (iPad, Cell Phones, Netbook)?I had an RE1000 with just the Surfboard, but it did not quite do the trick, and does not like both routers connected at either end.
I currently have my E2500 connected via wired LAN (not WAN) port on another router. The E2500 has an LAN IP of 10.0.0.2 and the router has 10.0.0.1 and a dhcp range outside of these. DHCP is disabled on the E2500. I can use my E2500 as a wired access point with no difficulty I plug something in and it calls the router and gets an address, but I can not get DHCP through the wireless of the E2500.
I have Time Warner as my internet company. I recently purchased a new Linksys Router Mode E2500 because I have been having issues with my old router. My internet was disconnecting sporadically. After connecting the new router, a started getting the same issue. I replaced my internet cable modem to a Cisco 2100 modem (provided by Time Warner). I noticed that the issue keeps happening sporadically which makes me believe it is my Linksys router. Every time a new wireless connection is connected, my modem circuit dies. This happens sporadically.
I have bought and installed an E2500 router 4 days ago. Installation of router and network using Cisco Connect was easy and without problems. However, after 4 days of usage, not changing anything in the network nor running Cisco Connect or accessing the web interface, I tried to start Cisco Connect and got the message "Cannot access your router".Internet is running, router is accessible via 192.168.1.1 in a browser window, Cisco Connect also works fine on my laptop. The only solution I found on this forum is: reset your router and reinstall Cisco Connect.and then every 4 days resetting my router and reinstalling the software?
My network consists of a Westel C90-610030-06 DSL modem, Cisco E2500 router and Hawking HWREN100 range extender. My wife has trouble with her IPad connecting to the Hawking.Apple says I need to Disable WMM on the E2500.
I am working with vpn setups for the first time. I would like to be able to connect to a computer on a home network through a linksys E2500 router. I have found alot of documentation on connecting to an external vpn from a computer on the lan side of the router, but nothing on connecting from the outside in. The router does have a static ip address with my internet provider, so I can contact the router from the outside. But makeing the connection to the computer on the other side of the router is where I am missing something or I dont realize that it is not possible. On the LAN side I am using DHCP to assign the address to the computer I want to connect to. Perhaps I need to make it have a static address also? I realize that when I configure the connection from the outside that I need to direct the connection to the remote computer in some way, unless vpn connections are fully passed through the router and the connection issue I am having is with the "inside" computer.
Got a problem with my new Linksys E2500 router. I have a Huawei Smart Ax MT882 cable modem, that connects to my desktop through an Ethernet cable, it works fine.
Recently i bought a notebook and i thought i could have a wireless connection, using the modem as well... So I bought a E2500 router, that is connected with Ethernet cables to the desktop and the Smart Ax MT882 modem.
It happens that i am not able to setup the configurations to make this work (This router does not supported by my ISP provider).
I have an E2500 configured inside my network. It is configured to give wireless PCs (This subnet is connected to a Lan port with 10.30.0.0 address) another subnet than wired PCs (this subnet is connected to Wan port 192.168.0.0). Since i configured i can access from wireless PCs to servers and PCs in the wired subnet but cannot access from wired computers from to wireless PCs. I suppouse it is because traffic is restricted from Wan to Lan.
I have a E2500 connected via LAN to my network via a switch or hub through a sonic wall and into the modem out to the internet. The problem is that I am only getting +/- 5Mpbs Down and +/-7 Mbps up through the router.
If I connect my computer to the network with out going through the router my speeds are more in the range of +/-28 Mbps down and 16Mbps up. I have been working with Linksys support but they have not been able to assist me with this yet! Is there any configuring I should be doing at the firewall or to the router to tell it to open up the port for faster speeds?
is there a way to restrict the upload and download of computers on a wireless network (or at least get the router to favor one computer over the others?)i have a tp-link TD-W8960N router and the computer i need the extra bandwidth on is connected to the router via cable
