recently I changed my ISP in hopes of getting better services for a cheaper price. The package I got claims that it has 24mbps download speed. I went on speedtest.net and compared the download speeds between my old ISP and the new one and it turns out it was the same; 7mbps. Either the technicians who came over to setup the new internet messed up or the WRT120N is having problems.

I noticed that the speed my computers report that they are connected to the wireless network connection is now 144.5 mps, versus 270 mps with the WRT300N. There is no change in location of the devices or computers. The computers use a WUSB300N adapter.Is there a setting or setup that needs to be changed?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have manually configured the E2000 and set the admin password. When I was trying to log back in, I could not. I reset and reconfigured and set the password again. I still could not log in using "admin" and the password I set up. I thought I was losing my mind. Just on a hunch, I used the SSID name instead of "admin", then entered the password that worked. I am able to login, but I need the username to be admin, not the SSID. Has anyine else had this issue? Any way to change the administrator name back to admin??
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded the firmware on my wrt 160N v3 and changed the wireless security to WPA2 Personal from WEP (I needed to do this to get higher speeds from a recently purchased wireless adapter). Now the router stops transmitting a signal intermittently for about a minute before coming back on line. The time between droppages is also not the same. Before the firmware upgrade (and the change in security settings) the router was rock solid. Where I can get the older version of the firmware (which seems to be more stable than the current version)?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a wrt160n router set up at a friends house that i would connect my windows xp laptor to when i would go there. it always worked fine. i recently got a new laptop with vista 64 bit OS. i went to my friends today and connected via wireless for the first time. i expected to get prompted for the security key. instead it asked for the pin #. the pin number was something new i noticed when i replaced an older linksys with the new wrt160n so i had it in my notes. i entered the pin number and connected to the wireless router. but then my friend laptop could not connect and said it couldnt find the network. when i viewed the available networks, i noticed that the original network SSID had been changed to my vista laptop's computer name. i had to physically connect my laptop to the router and reconfigure the settings of the wireless network. then my friend was able to see the available network and automatically connect..
View 6 Replies View RelatedRecently, I bought the E3200, and tried to configure its ports for gaming. Yet, whenever I would hit save settings, it would say my settings were saved, then return me to the settings page. But the settings would be blank. I tried downloading firmware from the website (which should say September 28), yet it still says I am running the firmware from September 1st, even after I applied the upgrade and followed through with the 50 second reboot process.
So, I guess my final question for any tech savvy person out there is "What is wrong with my router/firmware?" I am running the browser config in the most recent Firefox on the same MacBook I used to install the router, and haven't changed any settings other than the SSID and password.
dynDNS (dyn.com) doesn't offer any free version of their service anymore. Without using 3rd party firmwares: Is it possible to use other free DDNS services like no-ip for DDNS and if not, will there be an update soon that includes free DDNS hosts?

I'm using an Static IP adress and i'm using wrt120n router, but to connect the internet i have plugged the internet cable in the 1,2,3,4 (doesn't matter which one) slot. So now i'm just using the wirelss part of the router without "routering" if i can say so. When i put the internet cable in the Internet slot of the router, the laptop just cant connect to internet - it shows Unidentified network without Internet Access. I don't know what type of changes i have to make in the WEB interface of the router. I think i have to set the type of the connection - now is DHCP and may be to put my IP adress, DNS, Subnet mask in the router settings, but don't know how exactly. I've tried to set up the router with the CD-interface but same thing happened - Unidentified network when the cable is plugged in the Internet (yellow) port. How to set up the router to be a router, not just a wireless switch?
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy roommate and I recently got a WRT120N to replace an older Linksys router that was exhibiting the same problems with less frequency. Indeed, the entire reason we got the new router was to fix these problems. Alas, they have become worse.Anyways, what's happening is that the router constantly resets itself. It does this every 20 minutes to an hour and doesn't seem to be related to how much traffic it's dealing with.It's not just the internet going down, it's the entire network, and not even just the wireless part. My computer has a wired connection to the router and, and I get told "A network cable has been unplugged" every time it happens. Then, if I look down at the router, I see no flashing lights, just the steady glow of the power light. It always fixes itself after 10-15 seconds, but it's very annoying. Certainly, playing games online or having a conversation on Skype is made more difficult.As previously mentioned, we replaced our older router because it was exhibiting the same behavior, but the new one does it with greater frequency. At the very least, the router does reset itself instead of needing us to cycle the power. The setup was slightly different with the old router: I was using a wireless connection with a WMP54Gv4 which I've had to disable since it bluescreens the moment it so much as sniffs a signal from the WRT120N?

All I can do is switch the "view" from WPS to manual configuration in the management console...this doesn't actually disable anything.Maybe I don't understand WPS security, but what's the point of using a 20 character WPA2 password if WPS has an 8 digit PIN that I can't change or disable?

On the one PC, it keeps losing network connection. I've tried upgrading the router's firmware, reset, etc. to no avail.
I think it may be related to the same IP address being assigned to multiple machines connected to the router. Is there a way to set specific IP addresses to each item connected to the router to see?
I don't have any problem with the wireless computers connected to the router but the wired one keep geeting disconnected. I'm loosing the internet many times a day on thiis one. Like I said the wireless is ok. My old router on my computer ( wired) was working well before I installed the wrt120n.

Everything else is working good, I can detect the local network but I don't have internet. My internet connection is also working good. My question is, do I have a possibility to use some of LAN port like a WAN? I'm only using 2 of 4 LAN ports. It would be very useful because it's a pity to buy another router just for a not working WAN port.

Okay, everything is working fine until I unplug the ethernet cable and try to go wireless. Will not connect to my network. I am also having this problem with all my other devices.
I had everything running fine on a WRT54G, I just wanted to try out the WRT102N. I did change the SSID name form what I was using on the WRT54G.
I'm having an issue where essentially my only course of action is to unplug the router and plug it back in. I can connect my laptop (Dell Inspiron N4010) and my phone (HTC Inspire) once. But then if I put my computer to sleep, or I take my phone out of the wireless range and come back, I cannot connect again. I've gone through and played with the settings (changing the upnp, the beacon intervals, the channel, etc) but to no avail. Invariably, I always have to come back to unplugging and plugging back in.
Also have a Kobo E-Reader and a wireless Canon printer. The whole point of a wireless printer was so that it would stay connected and I can print from my laptop. This router is making this useless.
My mother in law bought my daughter a impression android tablet for Christmas it connects fine at public hotspots but I can not get it to connect to our wrt120n router at home. I have tried everything I know to add it. It asks for the password then says getting IP address then disconnects.
