Linksys Wireless Router :: E3200 Haven't Changed Any Settings Other Than SSID / Password
Jan 3, 2012Recently, I bought the E3200, and tried to configure its ports for gaming. Yet, whenever I would hit save settings, it would say my settings were saved, then return me to the settings page. But the settings would be blank. I tried downloading firmware from the website (which should say September 28), yet it still says I am running the firmware from September 1st, even after I applied the upgrade and followed through with the 50 second reboot process.
So, I guess my final question for any tech savvy person out there is "What is wrong with my router/firmware?" I am running the browser config in the most recent Firefox on the same MacBook I used to install the router, and haven't changed any settings other than the SSID and password.

Dec 4, 2011I used to play online games with GameSpy. Suddenly, GameSpy Arcade just won't connect anymore, and i also noticed that almost everything related to GameSpy is blocked in my entire network. The only GameSpy site i can connect is gamespy.com, but GameSpy forums and gamespyarcade.com are blocked. I haven't changed any network settings, and i've tried to connect without firewall and without avast antivirus, but it just won't work. The only way i can get to those sites is through a proxy, i think that means that THEY are blocking me, and not my own network, right?

B1 for about 2 years, and it's been working without a problem.Suddenly yesterday, I could not connect to the internet from my 2 laptop & blackberry.SSID & signal reception looks normal. On checking into the router's web interface, I noticed that the network key was changed into something else.....normal character like y2tz39s.
I'm being very curious. Has it been hacked ? Is it possible?I'm using WAP/WAP2 Security Setting for wireless connection.All other settings seems intact (firewall & even the SSID). Only the password was mysteriously changed. If I consider it being hacked, I wonder why the hacker didn't mess up all other settings ?
D-Link DIR-615 :: Wireless Laptops Loose Network Connection?

DIR-615
PC XP Wired
2 Acer laptops Vista wireless
All DHCP reserved
Security using wpa_psk
Not sure what other router info you need. All are connected to the internet, but can't see each other on the LAN. We can see each other from time to time. Sharing is allowed. Passwords are shared. I can power off the router and the network will be fine for about a day, then gone again. Workgroups are the same.

May 17, 2011I have 2 older xp pro tough books that connect to my domain via a pair of versa vx 400 access points. automobile technicians use these computers to communicate with cars via a separate wireless card and WiFi device (SPX MVXI) that broadcasts a wireless signal.they always connect just fine to the network but sometimes they drop there connection and don't rejoin which screws up my scheduled tasks (nightly upload). They will reacquire the connection every time if i select it again manually in the windows wireless config.here is what I have done so far
1. set up exclusion range in DHCP distribution on my DC
2. set the laptops up with static IP's within the exclusion range.
3. configured the laptops to auto connect to the network even when its not broadcasting
4. set the access points on channel 7, and the devices on 1 and 11.
I have done a lot of research on this issue, a rep from versa told me that Intel proset wireless isn't very compatible with there product which i this is BS since it does the same with with the netgear WiFi PC cards.

Laptop A ----- Laptop B ----- Laptop CI created an adhoc connection in laptop A with: Essid: 'ad_hoc', IP address: 10.42.43.1, Subnet: 255.255.255.0, Gateway: 0.0.0.0, Now the laptops B and C can see the wireless connection 'ad_hoc' and I can connect to them after setting IP 10.42.43.1 and 10.42.43.2 respectively. So, I created the adhoc connection between 3 laptops. Now, I wanted to check the bandwidth between the different paths. The tool iperf was what I used for TCP bandwidth calculation. The bandwidth between A and B was around 4.5 Mbps , between A and C was around 4.0 Mbps but the bandwidth between B and C (B being server) was 677 kbps whereas C being server was 3.99. I don't understand how can the bandwidth drop so high when B was made the server. The system adapters are identical.

Then, I set my enable secret password to passwordxxx (the same) with the command enable secret password password1.I log off the enable mode.Try to log on with the command en but when I type the new or the old password, I receive a 'Access denied' message.
And I'm sure of the new one because on my command line to define it I could see this new password in clear!What are my solutions to access the enable mode again?If I reboot my router, it'll run the previous config file with the old password? I've only worked on the running config file and haven't apply these changes to the nvram.
Changed Router Firmware And Password / Now Laptop Won't Connect
Apr 20, 2012My son decided to update our router firmware, together with this the password was changed. My computer which hosts the Internet connection works fine, all other laptops have now been connected successfully after simply changing the password. However my wifes laptop won't play ball. It is a Samsung R510, with Vista Home Premium OS. It worked fine prior to updating the firmware. I have been through the process of changing the password and have the correct security encryption in place, exactly the same process as with the other laptops.
It then says successfully connected, but shows in the bottom right of the screen, Unidentified network access local only and will not connect when the browser is opened. I have tried to diagnose but the usual windows prompt to reboot both modem and router has no effect. I have set it to private, as advised elsewhere, I have switched the firewall off and removed security software, all to no avail.
I tried the command prompt, then ipconfig/renew. An error occurred while renewing interface Wireless Connection: unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed out. No operation can be performed on Local Area Connection while it has media disconnected. Let me stress that no changes were made to the laptop at all, it is simply not connecting following the firmware update and password change. All other computers, and phones, 6 in total, are all working fine from simply changing the password.

Jan 25, 2011I use my desktop for streaming media throughout the house. I found it was causing lag for gaming most likely because it was taking up all the bandwidth for the router. We had a 2nd router laying around as well as a 2nd wireless adapter so we set up a 2nd network that was not connected to the internet for strictly media streaming.I attempted to change the network settings so the internet connection appeared as a public network so that streaming of media was hopefully diverted to the non internet wireless adapter.I want a faster way of transferring large video files from my laptop to my desktop. I recently bought a crossover cable to do this through direct connection.Both use the same user name and password as well as run the same win 7 pro however the desktop is the 64 bit version. I set up both ipv4 with the same addresses.When it has worked I am only getting a connection speed of just over 10mb and once I connect the crossover cable between the computers it knocks out my internet connection on the wireless card.

May 21, 2011I have a Linksys E3000, have had it successfully connected for three months now. Recently I attempted to connect my xbox 360 to the wifi and had issues connecting it. So I called ATT to obtain the PPPoE username and password, which they reluctantly gave me. Entered that into the xbox and still unable to connect, so I have given up on the xbox for the time being, I'll post that issue in a different forum. Where my issue is now is since contacting ATT the WPA2 password I set up for the router no longer works. I cannot access the router setup page, and I cannot add any new wifi devices. Although, all of the previously connected wifi devices are still connected to the router despite this issue. Is there anyway to make the old password work, or do I have to reset the router and start from scratch, and God forbid contact ATT again?

Nov 8, 2011I have a Cisco 1811W that after several years in service suddenly stopped allowing any wireless connection to laptops on the domain. It allows hard wired connections and devices that are just using the wireless hot spot like iPads and Iphones but not devices on the domain. These same laptops connect wirelessly without issue at our other facilities which use the same hardware.
