View 2 Replies View RelatedI have had this router for about 5 years now, I had problems setting it up from the start as I was fairly young but I eventually found a way around it - no problems since. Through memory I am sure I had this problem previously but I had the disk to give me guidelines on what to do(which I don't have any more). I have phoned up virgin (my ISP) and they said it was an issue to do with the router, to which I searched into the routers address, in this case 192.168.50.1. Scrolling down, I noticed that under the WAN section it says:
MAC Address:00-16-0A-09-CC-69IP Address:0.0.0.0Dynamic IPSubnet Mask:0.0.0.0 Default Gateway:0.0.0.0 Obtaining Network Parameters...DNS Server:0.0.0.0 , 0.0.0.0
I have spent a good part of today trying soloutions to get this to work again but I just can't seem to find a way around it. As I said, the router has been working fine for pretty much 5 years now and I really do not know why the WAN went. In addition, it was set up wireless. How can I obtain the newtork parameters?
As i said i have two laptops one has win xp and the other has win 7 ultimate
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy wife has a little Dell Mini running Windows 7 Starter. It connects to the network but gets a message that it cannot connect to the internet. Other laptops on the network CAN connect. This issue is new, the laptop has been fine up until a few days ago.
Per a separate thread, I went to the command prompt to try to run the ipconfig all but it comes up as user/owner and I don't know how to get to admin mode. Also, the proxy option is unchecked.
I need to connect 4-6 laptops in a mesh network topology. What equipment do I need (switches, hubs cable etc..) and how should I create the connection?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to set a password to secure my internet broadband but the manual states address as 192.168.2.1 - this asks for a username and password which are supposed to be admin and 1234 - although manual shows a screen with just a password and says bypass it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to transfer files from my laptop to my desktop, but when I open the 'network' folder from the start menu to access the desktop from the laptop, the desktop computer is not shown. I ensured that the workgroup names are the same, all sharing is turned on on both computers in Network and Sharing Center, since it is a private network, I checked the router settings and nothing seems to be wrong. The desktop is running Windows Vista Business x86 and the laptop is running Windows 7 Home Premium x64, so there is no way to make a Homegroup connection. However, I can see the laptop computer from the desktop's network folder. I click on it to gain access, but I get an error message: "Network Error, Windows cannot access \****-PC, check the spelling of the name. Otherwise, there might be a problem with your network. Error code: 0x80070035 The network path was not found." have checked all wiring, router settings, and nic card settings, have done a successful ping, even Network and Sharing Center, I have also checked sharing permissions and permission levels, I see nothing that could possibly affect the access of the computers.
The only thing I can think of is that when I click on the 'Network ID' button under the Computer Name tab in System Properties on the desktop, it asks join a domain or workgroup, it will not let me save the selection "This is a home computer; it's not part of a business network," that may or may not be the issue, because it will only remain on "This computer is part of a business network" probably because I am running Windows Vista Business.

View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently my modem/router broke and we had it replaced by our provider. Since it has been replaced we have been having problems with our connection. We have 1 desktop and 2 laptops the desktop is connected to the modem. When we have both laptops running we can browse online okay but if one of the laptops starts downloading something or even loading a video or big web page the other laptops connection will not work it. It says its still connected and finds no problems but no pages will load. I also have problems when I download anything. If I begin downloading then on the same laptop I can not even browse the web while I'm Downloading.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have 2 laptops that won't connect to the internet through my wireless router. They will connect through the ethernet cable though. When I click on connect, it says "waiting for network" but then closes itself and says it cannot connect. I also have one laptop that will not connect for several minutes after it "wakes up" from sleep mode or is restarted. It shows (No internet access).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to connect two laptops for experiment purpose. I do not want to use the internet on any of them , just be able to ping from one pc to another and SSH into them. The use is basically for a mobile robot , one pc on the robot and another one to control and see the processes using SSH. How do I use a wireless router to create such a network? I am using Ubuntu on both system (I tried ad-hoc but its not working).

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe recently switched from cable internet to Verizon DSL since my roommate moved out and took his equipment with him. I set up the wireless router last week and got my laptop to work on the wireless connection. Now I am unable to get my boyfriend's computer to connect to it, when it never had this issue before with the previous wireless. The first day I had it set up, it said it connected, with an "excellent" connection strength, but then the status was 'unable to connect.' I was on the phone with the Verizon guy, who after doing a screen share, said it was my IP address.
So I tried resetting my IP through the CMD, with no luck. Now it doesn't even let me connect to the wireless at all. I've tried both the Intel PROSet/Wireless and the Microsoft client to connect (this is running Windows XP) and when I click 'repair' on the Microsoft client, it tells me it couldn't be corrected because it could not renew the IP address. The firewall is currently off and I removed the defunct McAfee that was never renewed anyway[CODE]
At home I have a wireless access point that I use to connect my laptop #1 to the Internet. On laptop #1 IP address is set to 193.49.21.65. This IP address also Subnet Mask and other addresses are given by my Internet Service Provider. Everything works just fine but lately I bought another laptop (laptop #2) and now my aim is to connect both laptops to the Internet. Unfortunately, I can't make that happen. Only one of my laptops having IP 193.49.21.65 set can connect to the Internet.

So is there any way to have an Internet connection on both of my laptops without having to buy any new equipment?
I have two computers on hard line and two laptops. All computers on the line work fine and flawlessly. But when I try to connect the laptops to the computer, they say there's a problem with the certificate. Both detect the connection, and with strong enough signal strength. I've tried WPA and WEP encryption methods, and disabling encryption methods. All had no change. I believe the problem lies with this Wi-Fi Protected Setup stuff, which I have no clue as to what the hell it's supposed to do. I've tried disabling it by turning it to manual, which all computers then lose internet connection entirely. Browsing the FAQ's, I havn't found a solution. I've been working on this thing for a solid 7 and a half hours straight, and phone support is trying to make me configure static IPs, which proved extremely inconvenient in the past.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have set up my WAG320N with my E4200v1 successfully. The problem is that my laptops can't connect through WiFi with the E4200 router, but only with the WAG320N (wireless). Since it is the first time I set up a network alone I possible have made mistakes and that's why I can't connect to my router wirelessly. My desktop pc will successfully connect to both of my routers (wired)! My devices won't (DS,Laptops). I have WEP security in my WAG320N (because this is the only one my DS card can connect to) and in my E4200 I want to use WAP2 to connect my 2 laptops. I have made nothing more than setting them up and both of my evices are new.
It is for home use, both of my devices are updated to their latest firmware and the laptops won't identify the problem and will ask to restart the router. (I did many restarts both on my routers, PC, laptops)
I have battling this issue since I bought this router, at least 2 years.
Using:
DIR-615
PC XP Wired
2 Acer laptops Vista wireless
All DHCP reserved
Security using wpa_psk
Not sure what other router info you need. All are connected to the internet, but can't see each other on the LAN. We can see each other from time to time. Sharing is allowed. Passwords are shared. I can power off the router and the network will be fine for about a day, then gone again. Workgroups are the same.
I have a new Linksys E2000, I was unable to connect one of my laptops to the internet, so I decided to call support with the problem, after 45min and not results, find out that the E2000 do not support the Atheros AR 5007, they told me that I need to get a new driver for my adapter. Fine but Cisco doesn’t have a Driver update for this problem or how to fix it, or at least send you a link where to get the fix.

For example, i can open [URL] but i can't open [URL].. My connection to the internet is trough PPPoE and when i am connected directly to the internet i don't have this problem, the problem appears only when i am connected to internet trough the router. Moreover, programs like Yahoo Messenger and Skype can connect to internet trough the router, the problem is only with the sites. These two sites i use are just an example, most of the sites i can't open.

I have a Linksys WRT110 wireless router that has never given me any problem. All of the sudden, after a storm blew through yesterday, none of the laptops in my house (PC running Vista and Mac) will recognize my wireless network. I have a desktop computer and BluRay player hardwired to the router and the internet works fine on them through the router. The problem is not that I can't connect or lose connection, the wireless network isn't showing up as existing anymore, like it has disappeared.
