I was just wondering how to connect 3 laptops to 1 printer in my office?We don’t have a server and all laptop contacted to internet wireless through a router next door. (I don’t have access to that router)I was thinking to get a hub and then connect it to the Ethernet cable back of the printer and then connect it to each laptop?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have 2 older xp pro tough books that connect to my domain via a pair of versa vx 400 access points. automobile technicians use these computers to communicate with cars via a separate wireless card and WiFi device (SPX MVXI) that broadcasts a wireless signal.they always connect just fine to the network but sometimes they drop there connection and don't rejoin which screws up my scheduled tasks (nightly upload). They will reacquire the connection every time if i select it again manually in the windows wireless config.here is what I have done so far
1. set up exclusion range in DHCP distribution on my DC
2. set the laptops up with static IP's within the exclusion range.
3. configured the laptops to auto connect to the network even when its not broadcasting
4. set the access points on channel 7, and the devices on 1 and 11.
I have done a lot of research on this issue, a rep from versa told me that Intel proset wireless isn't very compatible with there product which i this is BS since it does the same with with the netgear WiFi PC cards.
I have two laptops, both running Vista and want to get a wireless printer to use with them. I do not have a wired ISP; I get my internet through a laptop connect card. I've been told all I need is a wireless printer; I've been told I need a wireless printer and a router; and I've been told I cannot do it without an ISP (i.e., AT&T, Roadrunner, etc.). Which is correct?

View 1 Replies View RelatedThere would appear to be a general problem with printing from a wireless laptop, judging by the number I've come across in the search for a solution to my particular problem.My Set-up is:BT Home-Hub (up to 8 MBs Broadband DSL connection with outputs of two ethernet ports and Wifi, telephone and USB
- port 1 connected to Vista PC
- port 2 connected to 8 port Netgear switch.
Netgear switch.
- port 1 input from BT Home Hub
- port 2 connected to TV
- port 3 connected to NAS
- port 4 connected to Samsung CLP 620 ND colour laser
- port 5 connected to this desktop PC (Win 7/64bit)
- ports 5 to 8 as yet unused.
Other PCs
- desktop running XP SP3 connects through WiFi
- old Toshiba laptop running XP SP 3 connects through WiFi
- new HP laptop running Win 7 SP 1 connects through WiFi
- Acer laptop running Win 7 SP1 connects through WiFi.(WiFi computers not necessarily connected all at the same time)
The issue.This desktop can print via the network..All XP pcs/laptops see the printer on the network and can print..The Win 7 laptops see the printer on the network, but when asked to print a test page, the document gets stuck in queue until it gives the Error - printing message. If the printer is sleeping, when the test page is sent, the Samsung print dialog panel on the laptop remains showing "Printer is sleeping..." as if no commands are being sent to the printer (and therefore why nothing prints). Cancelling the document returns the printer to normal - ie the exclam mark in the yellow triangle disappears and is replaced by a tick. When the laptop is shutdown, and then restarted maybe a day later, if the printer is on, it jumps into life and prints the test page from the laptop.I should add that the laptop is also part of the HOMEGROUP and can see the printer via this PC when this PC is on - and it can print via this PC in the HOMEGROUP. Both the problem laptops have the up to date Samsung drivers although it took an age to install - it seems to get stuck on the "Detecting TCP/IP Port" page and then goes to a page headed Additional port info required. On selecting Samsung Printer, it moves on to Detecting Driver Model, gets stuck there until it moves on to the old Add Printer dialog with Manufacturers in the left pane and printers in the right.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys WRT120N and two XP laptops.I can connect them to my network when MAC filtering is disabled but as soon as I re-enable it, the network kicks them off.I've had the network set to broadcast enable and disabled and it doesn't matter. There is NO WPA2 etc security or password on the network.I've checked, double-checked and quadruple-checked the MAC addresses of both laptops (using "ipconfig /all") and they're both right. I entered them correctly and I've quadruple-checked that I've checked "PERMIT" instead of "PREVENT". The funny thing is that I also have a Samsung Galaxy SII and that connected right to the router even WITH MAC address filtering on. It was unbothered the entire time I was enabling and disabling things. It kept streaming web radio the entire time.
One of my laptops is set to use Windows to configure my wireless networks and one uses Intel ProSet/Wireless to manage connections.Neither one can connect when MAC filtering is on... but my phone connects just fine.where someone asks this question ends up in people arguing about why MAC filtering is worthless or perfectly valid or whatever and the anti-MAC filtering person telling the asker to get some "real" security and stop wasting their time.

Since it has been replaced we have been having problems with our connection.We have 1 desktop and 2 laptops the desktop is connected to the modem. When we have both laptops running we can browse online okay but if one of the laptops starts downloading something or even loading a video or big web page the other laptops connection will not work it. It says its still connected and finds no problems but no pages will load. I also have problems when I download anything. If I begin downloading then on the same laptop I can not even browse the web while I'm Downloading.

Night before last, without warning, all 6 stopped connecting through the wireless router. I took the router out of the mix, and now only the linux laptops can connect to the internet via ethernet cable. comcast support is useless.any ideas what could be happening here? Only 1 of the linux and 2 of the windows laptops were connected at the time this occurred.

I Have a new Netgear DGND3300. Ive done all the settings for the DSL and it all connected ok. Turn on the security for the wireless WPA2-PSK(AES) It has 2 SSID one for the N and the other for the G. All good all light on the modem are good. Tried to connect my Toshiba Qosmio F60 but it only sees the G wireless speed. Why wont it see and connect to the N Network?

The same 2 XP laptops can connect if they are wired without problems.My Ubuntu computer can connect to wifi and wired without problem."Limited or No Connectivity" usually means a DHCP problem in XP. I have DHCP turned on on my router.This problem did not immediately start when I first set up the TEW-639GR.
