Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 - Drive Not Seen On Xp Laptops?

I just purchased an E4200, primarily to connect my Free Agent drive to for network access.  The router has V. 2.0.36 installed, drive is fully shared, but I am unable to see the drive when I attempt to map it on any of my XP laptops.  When I perform discovery, it finds the router, but is unable to see the drive.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Laptops Can't Connect Through Wi-Fi With E4200

Mar 11, 2012

I have set up my WAG320N with my E4200v1 successfully. The problem is that my laptops can't connect through WiFi with the E4200 router, but only with the WAG320N (wireless). Since it is the first time I set up a network alone I possible have made mistakes and that's why I can't connect to my router wirelessly. My desktop pc will successfully connect to both of my routers (wired)! My devices won't (DS,Laptops). I have WEP security in my WAG320N (because this is the only one my DS card can connect to) and in my E4200 I want to use WAP2 to connect my 2 laptops. I have made nothing more than setting them up and both of my evices are new.

It is for home use, both of my devices are updated to their latest firmware and the laptops won't identify the problem and will ask to restart the router. (I did many restarts both on my routers, PC, laptops)

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Cannot Access Shared Computers On Mac

Nov 2, 2011

Recently installed an E4200 router to an MacPro following the setup as directed by Cisco Connection (connect Ethernet to router and then computer to router.)  The wireless and the hard-wire connectivity works fine with accessing the internet. However, we have lost the ability to connect to other computers on our LAN via the Shared folder connection.   This is usually accessed via the Sidebar (see image)

However with the E4200 in the mix, all we see is the router per its "given name" (what it was named on installation).  I have tried to follow the advice mentioned in other threads, such as "Can't access network shares with E3000" and nothing worked-- and those threads seemed to apply to Windows and PCs anyway.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Can't Ping Windows Computers With New E4200 LAN / WLAN

Mar 18, 2012

just replaced a WRT54G with E4200. Most functions work well. 4 wireless computers (1 Macbook, 3 Win 7), 1 wireless android, 1 wired Win7 computer, 1 ethernet connected hard drive, 1 ethernet connected printer. All computers can ping router, access hard drive, access internet, ping android and ping Macbook. However, router, nor any computer, can't ping Win7 computers. Apparently IP based connections between WinX computers is blocked. My real applications are to Remote Desktop Connect from 1 Win7 computer to another, or to run a DLNA music server on 1 Win7 computer, accessed by another. (the LAN connected computer is the server, accessed by a wLAN client. All worked fine on WRT54G router, but can't connect thru E4200.  When these apps failed, I tried PING, and that failed as well. All computer's IP addresses are properly served from E4200 via DHCP, and are visible thru the router's DHCP Reservation panel.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Internet Stops Working With All My Computers

Feb 3, 2013

I'm having a bit of trouble with my e4200, It keeps on "dropping" connection, and by dropping I mean it constantly around 3-5 minutes the internet stops working with all my computers, it's connected by wifi with 2 PC's, and 1 PC is wired with an ethernet cable, and I also have 2 mobile devices connected at it. The internet would start working again within 30s, to 1m, but that it drops soon. Methods I've done to fix it:

-Updated firmware to the latest one
-Set the MTU to 1400
-Reset it, (30 second press)
-Rebooted, (Cooled down, doesn't really run hot just a little warm)
-Restored to factore defaults

Linksys Wireless Router :: Connecting USB Printer To E4200?

Apr 11, 2011

I think I have worked out that you can`t currently connect a usb printer to the usb port on the e4200 in order to share it over the network.

However I have heard reports that this might facility might be enabled in the spring.

I have also heard something about `virtual usb` but I don`t know whether this has anything to do with it.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 USB Printer Connection Not Working?

Jun 21, 2011

The latest Firmware for the E4200 states that there is now the ability to attach a printer to the USB port of the router. I am using a Mac, so that may be the problem,  but I have followed the instructions on how to add the printer and it is not happening. It's possible that the MAC Firmware was not given the ability to add a USB printer like the PC Firmware upgrade.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 And Sharing A Printer On Subnet?

Apr 2, 2012

My issue is sharing a printer across my main Network and the wireless one, the description of the setting: I have my main Network 10.1.1.0/24 (RV082) and I hooked the wireless router E4200 at an IP 10.1.1.82 and the wireless network is 192.168.1.0/24 I setup a printer/scanner with an IP 192.168.1.72 for sharing on both Networks. Now everyone on 192.168.1.0 network is able to access and print  but none on 10.1.1.0 I did put a static route on the RV082 to direct the requests for the printer to be redirected to 10.1.1.82 but no success.

The E4200 is setup by default out of the box I had just to set the static IP, Gateway and DNS and of course the wireless security key nothing else. the NAT is enabled on the E4200 and RIP is disabled, I tested the connection by disabling NAT and enabling RIP, at which I was able to connect to the printer but the Internet went down for All Wireless users (192.168.1.0 network)

Linksys Wireless Router :: Can't Connect E4200 To Brother MFC-J615W Printer

Apr 2, 2013

I have had the E4200 for a while with a Brother MFC-J615W printer.  I have been having problems keeping the connection between my laptop(HP) and the printer ever since I switched to this router.  The only thing that works is completely reinstalling the driver, and then it is touchy when searching the network for the printer.  The port and IP address for my printer match, and when I tried pinging my printer, I do not have any success.  My laptop registers the printer as offline, as does the router when I go into the devices on the router(via mylocalrouter).  To spot check the issue, I have switched the router back to my old one(Belkin) and the printer works flawlessly.  I have always been able to connect the printer to the network without any problems, but my laptop and router dont recognize it.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 USB Printer Requires Cisco Connect Software?

Jul 28, 2011

I was excited to learn that USB printer support was added to the E4200. I'm disappointed to find that the USB printer option that is available in firmware version 1.0.02 requires Cisco Connect software. There is no version of Cisco Connect for Linux. I was hoping that this would allow the printer to be shared among my Win7 desktop, Win7 laptop, and my Linux desktop running Ubuntu 10.10. No such luck. WIth the printer connected to the router I can print with any one computer. My previous configuration had the printer connected to my WIn7 desktop so that desktop had to be turned-on to print. The bottom line is that I still can't print from the Linux box without turning on the desktop machine. Cisco please provide a way to connect to the printer without using the Connect software! Or provide a java version that can be run on any OS.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 - Wireless Printer Won't Work?

May 8, 2012

I have a E4200 router and I was using it with a 1st generation MacBook Air for internet and also had my Samsung laser printer hooked up (USB) for wireless printing. It worked perfectly. Now I have upgraded to a new MacBook Air. The internet connection works fine, but printing won't work. Same printer. Same connections.

Do I need to refresh/reboot something? My new Mac has the printer driver. I get a message "printer if offline" "printer is not connected" -I feel like the router now does not recognize the new Mac's command to print. The older macbook air still works and prints wirelessly. The new one does not.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Cannot Print Via Hp Wireless Printer

Mar 17, 2011

I have an HP laser printer (network printer) plugged into one of the ethernet ports of the E4200.  I am able to print and communicate with the printer (via the built-in web interface) for the first few hours after the printer is powered on.  After a day or so, however, (when the printer has gone into sleep/power-save mode) I can no longer print or attach to it - it is seen as being offline.  The only way around this is to power the printer off and on again.I never had this problem with the E3000 or the (non-Cisco) router before that.  I do not see any settings that would cause this to happen.

HP 1022NW Wireless Printer Will Not Connect To Cisco E4200 Router

Jun 13, 2011

I recently bought a new Windows 7 system and a Cisco E4200 router. Previously, I had an old Linksys WRT54GS router with an HP 1022NW connected to the network. The HP printer has worked flawlessly all these years and did not even hiccup when Windows 7 came into play. But as soon as I changed out my router, the trouble started. I cannot for the life of me get these two devices to connect. Is the HP1022NW even compatible with the E4200 router when using wireless connections? I know you are supposed to match the settings, but the encryption types are different For example, the default router settings are mixed WPA/WPA2. Previously I had WPA-PSK, which is not an option on this new router. I have followed every instruction I can find in manuals and online to get the wireless connection working, but it either fails the installation, or it latches onto my neighbor's wireless signal, which is not nearly as strong as mine. I believe he has his router set to WEP, which seems to point to the encryption question above. Short of connecting this as a hard wired printer, is there any chance I can get this to work? I have tried resetting it to factory conditions and even that does not work.

Web Printer Install With USR5461 Router

Jul 27, 2011

I cannot re-install my network printer via the USR web-print server at the URL identified by my USR5461 router page in Win XP SP3 even though it has worked for years. When I try to type in or cut & paste insert the URL for the web print server per USR's instructions, from the router home page, I get an error message that the printer was not found (even if I cut and paste the URL directly from my router's setup home page). The router home page indicates the printer status is "ready". In all other respects the router works fine for home networking and internet.I suspect I may have to manually set up an internet port for the printer but don't know how to do that in XP apparently.
