View 1 RepliesIs it possible to share a usb printer over a network if I use the E3200 or E4200 router as an acces point? (I already have a router and will use the cisco as an access point only) I checked the documentation for "cisco connect" as best I could but I couldn't figure it out.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy issue is sharing a printer across my main Network and the wireless one, the description of the setting: I have my main Network 10.1.1.0/24 (RV082) and I hooked the wireless router E4200 at an IP 10.1.1.82 and the wireless network is 192.168.1.0/24 I setup a printer/scanner with an IP 192.168.1.72 for sharing on both Networks. Now everyone on 192.168.1.0 network is able to access and print but none on 10.1.1.0 I did put a static route on the RV082 to direct the requests for the printer to be redirected to 10.1.1.82 but no success.
The E4200 is setup by default out of the box I had just to set the static IP, Gateway and DNS and of course the wireless security key nothing else. the NAT is enabled on the E4200 and RIP is disabled, I tested the connection by disabling NAT and enabling RIP, at which I was able to connect to the printer but the Internet went down for All Wireless users (192.168.1.0 network)
I've had the Airport Extreme router on our Macs at home for years. Finally upgraded and got the E3200.
With the airports, my wife could print wirelessly to our HP LaserJet, which is still showing as an available printer on the wireless network. However, since removing the Apple router and using the E3200 it won't print. When you choose to print wirelessly from the application, it says "looking for printer" and eventually fails and says printer is offline. (which it isn't).
The printer is connected via USB to an external USB hub connected to a Mac. The printer is not (and has never been) connected directly to a router - not the Apple one, or the new E3200.
On the Mac sharing settings, Printer sharing is turned on, so anyone on our network should be able to print wirelessly.
Does the Linksys require some special permission or setup w/ the CiscoConnect software in order to allow the wireless printing?
I have a home office with a network served by a Linksys BEFSR41 wired router. It includes a laptop and HP printer.. This router also connects to my cable modem for internet access. I also have a second wireless linksys E1000 router hardwired to the home office router. It serves my wifes's laptop in the kitchen and also a ROKU in the den. I tried using the wireless router for the whole house, but the signal was too weak and unreliable. With the current layout, I get a strong signal thoughout the house and my home office uses the wired router.. My problem is that I can't access the printer in my home office.

I'm using a WD MyBook Essential 3TB with NTFS, which is on the compatible list [URL]. But the router only sees 746.486GB.I tried the latest firmware 2.1.39.145204(Smart WiFi) and 2.0.37.131047(Classic). Neither of them recognize the 3TB HDD.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently bought an E3000 to replace my failed WRT54G v5. With the E3000 I can't get my shared Windows folders to be accessed from my other PCs. I called telephone support and they informed me that the E3000 doesn't support file & printer sharing. WTH? Is this true? If so, I'm going to return the E3000 and get my money back. But I never heard of a router not supporting file & printer sharing. My WRT54G handled it just fine.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have been using the e4200 for about a week. So far, so good! However, a primary reason I purch it was the ability to share via USB across my network (Files and such). Read the approved USB drives that r compatible and although my specfic drive was not listed (WD, my Passport) I connected it to the e4200 and set a folder called "movies"to share. In this folder I have both bluray rips (25-32GB) and standard rips (5gb or less). Regardless of source, the content was not playable. It buffered like crazy. So, is it as simple as using an approved USB drive and I will be able to share appropriately?
The same folder plays great when connected directly to one of my media streamers USB drive, so don't think the drive/source is bad.
I am using an e4200 router, Windows 7 64-bit, ipad and iphone. The issue that I am having is that the iPad and iPhone cannot maintain a connection iTunes via Home Sharing. When I start iTunes I am able to access Home Sharing on the iPhone and iPad. If I don't connect right away I will lose this capability. Also, the connection is lost after a seeminingly random amount of time. Also, when if I using the iPhone to listen to music and I pick up my iPad and access the wireless network, the phone gets kicked off Home Sharing. The only way to remedy the situation is to re-start iTunes on my computer. I've been messing around with every setting.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just got a new E4200 v2 wireless router. I'm intrigued by the USB port, especially for using it to connect a printer. I currently have a D-Link wireless print server that I'm using to create a network-attached printer, but if I could remove an extra device and just have the printer connected straight to the router
View 2 Replies View RelatedI think I have worked out that you can`t currently connect a usb printer to the usb port on the e4200 in order to share it over the network.
However I have heard reports that this might facility might be enabled in the spring.
I have also heard something about `virtual usb` but I don`t know whether this has anything to do with it.
I see support for DynDNS.org and ZOT.com only.

I'm considering the E4200V2 for deployment in this medium-sized biz environment, but I want SNMP support. Is the E4200V2 a suitable choice? Several reviews have been favorable, but I find no mention of SNMP implementation.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe web site says that the E4200 has a USB port to connect USB drives and printers. That sounded to me like multiple devices could be added. It says nothing about only being able to connect one. Since I have 3 USB drives and 2 USB printers, that sounded great. Setting it up, it seems that this port will not use a HUB, and can only be used for one USB device. How can that be? That is so limiting as to be nearly useless.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSince firmware 1.0.02, E4200 supports connect printers to USB port and print to it from Windows using CiscoConnect. Is there any way to print from Linux (using CUPS, LPD, etc)?
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe latest Firmware for the E4200 states that there is now the ability to attach a printer to the USB port of the router. I am using a Mac, so that may be the problem, but I have followed the instructions on how to add the printer and it is not happening. It's possible that the MAC Firmware was not given the ability to add a USB printer like the PC Firmware upgrade.
View 9 Replies View RelatedThe Guest Access is a very nice feature for allowing us to provide Internet access in our rental unit.
However, it would be nice to provide the Guests access to the USB printer.
Is there a way to provide access to the USB printer for those who are logged into the "Guest Network"?
The latest firmware seems to support bridge mode. Does it mean the router can connect to another router wirelessly in the bridge mode?

View 1 Replies View RelatedDue to an issue with having to support an ALG enabled phone and a non-ALG enabled phone, I have a requirement that both NAT and RIP be enabled simultaneously, is there a Linksys product that can support this requirement? Or, more preferably a firware upgrade for the E4200 that will support this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been successfully printing to my HP 8250 printer USB connected to my e4200 router for nearly a year from my xp ethernet pc and 2 windows 7 wireless laptops. Today nothing could print to it and when I deleted and tried to reinstall using cisco connect it tells me I am trying to connect an unsupported device both on ethernet XP PC and wireless windows 7 laptop. I have installed no new software or drivers this year. I have had to regress to attaching the printer back to the XP PC and sharing it which obviously means the PC now needs to be switched on to print.

E4200 -
Can I use a USB hub to connect NAS ~and~ a USB printer to the single USB port?
I have had the E4200 for a while with a Brother MFC-J615W printer. I have been having problems keeping the connection between my laptop(HP) and the printer ever since I switched to this router. The only thing that works is completely reinstalling the driver, and then it is touchy when searching the network for the printer. The port and IP address for my printer match, and when I tried pinging my printer, I do not have any success. My laptop registers the printer as offline, as does the router when I go into the devices on the router(via mylocalrouter). To spot check the issue, I have switched the router back to my old one(Belkin) and the printer works flawlessly. I have always been able to connect the printer to the network without any problems, but my laptop and router dont recognize it.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just bought an IOSafe Solo G3 3TB drive. My E4200 does not seem to mount the drive correctly when formatted as GPT. When I re-format as MBR, it mounts with no problem, but this limits the drive size to 2TB. Has anyone had success with this HD or others using GPT format?
View 9 Replies View RelatedAny chance of one or preferably both of these before I flash the router to a more competent firmware?Rather ridiculous that there's no interface counters and no SNMP server. I prefer keeping stock firmware where possible but I need this functionality, it really isn't a big ask. That said I have an E4200 v1, which already looks like abandonware given it's been 6 months since the last firmware update - not amused and no intention of swapping a high performance router for one that sacrifices performance for better NAS functionality.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if the EA3500 would support splitting the USB (buying a USB tree) to allow for both a printer and hard drive to connect at the same time?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was excited to learn that USB printer support was added to the E4200. I'm disappointed to find that the USB printer option that is available in firmware version 1.0.02 requires Cisco Connect software. There is no version of Cisco Connect for Linux. I was hoping that this would allow the printer to be shared among my Win7 desktop, Win7 laptop, and my Linux desktop running Ubuntu 10.10. No such luck. WIth the printer connected to the router I can print with any one computer. My previous configuration had the printer connected to my WIn7 desktop so that desktop had to be turned-on to print. The bottom line is that I still can't print from the Linux box without turning on the desktop machine. Cisco please provide a way to connect to the printer without using the Connect software! Or provide a java version that can be run on any OS.
