I'm using a WD MyBook Essential 3TB with NTFS, which is on the compatible list [URL]. But the router only sees 746.486GB.I tried the latest firmware 2.1.39.145204(Smart WiFi) and 2.0.37.131047(Classic). Neither of them recognize the 3TB HDD.

I'm considering the E4200V2 for deployment in this medium-sized biz environment, but I want SNMP support. Is the E4200V2 a suitable choice? Several reviews have been favorable, but I find no mention of SNMP implementation.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe web site says that the E4200 has a USB port to connect USB drives and printers. That sounded to me like multiple devices could be added. It says nothing about only being able to connect one. Since I have 3 USB drives and 2 USB printers, that sounded great. Setting it up, it seems that this port will not use a HUB, and can only be used for one USB device. How can that be? That is so limiting as to be nearly useless.

View 1 Replies View RelatedDue to an issue with having to support an ALG enabled phone and a non-ALG enabled phone, I have a requirement that both NAT and RIP be enabled simultaneously, is there a Linksys product that can support this requirement? Or, more preferably a firware upgrade for the E4200 that will support this?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just bought an IOSafe Solo G3 3TB drive. My E4200 does not seem to mount the drive correctly when formatted as GPT. When I re-format as MBR, it mounts with no problem, but this limits the drive size to 2TB. Has anyone had success with this HD or others using GPT format?
View 9 Replies View RelatedAny chance of one or preferably both of these before I flash the router to a more competent firmware?Rather ridiculous that there's no interface counters and no SNMP server. I prefer keeping stock firmware where possible but I need this functionality, it really isn't a big ask. That said I have an E4200 v1, which already looks like abandonware given it's been 6 months since the last firmware update - not amused and no intention of swapping a high performance router for one that sacrifices performance for better NAS functionality.
View 8 Replies View RelatedWill Cisco be adding support for OpenDNS in the next firmware release? I have the e4200v2 and want to be able to specify times when I want the filtering to be off. After the kids go to bed. Netgear allows this with their nicely implemented OpenDNS in their routers. I am currently using OpenDNS with this router but don't like having to log in to remove the filtering and then adding it back on when I'm done surfing.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am running a guest network on my E4200V2. I have changed my DNS servers on the router to use OpenDNS for traffic filtering. The filtering on my non-guest networks is working fine; the OpenDNS test sites are blocked. However, when I use the guest network, the OpenDNS test sites are not blocked. There's obviously nowhere that I can change the DNS settings for the guest network.
I know that parental filtering in the router applies to the guest network, however, it seems that the DNS servers for the non-guest networks don't apply to the guest network. Is this true? Have others seen this?If so, that's pretty disappointing. OpenDNS filtering is much more powerful than the 8-URL blacklist I can create in the router admin. If I want to filter sites for my kids, having a guest network that is essentially wide-open (except for 8 URLs) is not an ideal situation.
I have been using OpenDNS for a long time, and I just got the Linksys E3000. When I tried to change the settings to add OpenDNS it said that some changes may cause the Cisco Connect software not to work anymore.
If I change the Static DNS 1 and 2 [URL] will I still be able to use all of the functions in the Cisco Connect software?
Is there any possibility to set linksys E4200 for support anonymous acces to ftp server in read and write mode ?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought the EA2700, and put the addresses for the DNS servers of OpenDNS into the Static DNS 1, 2, and 3 so that my internet access is filtered (OpenDNS provides content filtering). However I read online that users can bypass the use of OpenDNS DNS servers by choosing their own DNS servers on their computer network connections. The solution is involves firewall rules that limit DNS servers accessed through port 53 to only OpenDNS.
View 1 Replies View RelatedLately, Ive been trying to change my router DNS to OpenDNS. Somehow, after changing it, I couldnt access the router page at 192.168.0.1, getting the error 500 message. I unplugged and plugged the router with no effect. Im using a dlinkddns.com dynamic IP, and have a few ports forwarded for my DVR. The router model is DIR 615. want to change the DNs for speed and filtering purposes.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a recurring issue with my e4200v1. My wired and wireless connections work fine, but I can't get to the administration website. I have https only set up, and after I get thru the 'certificate error' screen, I get an error that says web page is unavailable. Firfefox tells me that the connection was lost - error 101.I have tried wired and wireless, multiple computers, multiple browsers. I even turned the firewall off on one computer (or I think I did anyway). The only way I know how to fix it is by completely resetting then setting up the router all over again.
View 2 Replies View RelatedUpgraded from WRT610N to E4200. Since upgrading to latest firmware the wan just disappears both 5 and 2.5 Ghz bands. Happened with older firmware but not as often. Using it in briged mode. When this happens I can't even get to the management page with a lan connected pc. Have to do a hard reboot to get it to respond again. This is unacceptable for a router at this price point.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am connecting the E4200 to a Sonicwall TZ100. I want the TZ100 to assign IP addresses to devices that connect to the LAN via the E4200.
How do I have the E4200 act as a WAP only or not assign IP addresses and push that responsibility to the TZ100?
I'd still want the E4200 to have a SID key for LAN access security.
I have a 6 month old Cisco e-4200 router that is updated to the latest firmware, connected to a Motorola surfboard modem on Sudden-link in Midland, TX.
I previously used this exact same setup on Cox Cable in Wichita, KS with no problems. Upon setting it up down here I cannot get the router to pickup an IP address. I have Power-cycled everything multiple times, did a complete reset and re-installation of the router software and still no luck. The Sudden-link techs have no idea what is wrong. They said that the modems signal is strong and everything should be working.
Actually I did get it to work once for a couple of days, however when redoing the surround sound system I had to unhook the cable line and it quit working and I haven't gotten it to work again since. I have tried unhooking everything. Turning it all off. Waiting for 5+minutes, and then reconnecting in order: First the modem, then an ethernet cable to the computer which will usually work. But as soon as I unplug the cable from the computer and plug it into the router it stops working.
I bought Linksys E4200, at a time that is the TOP of the line Cisco routers for Home use.I noticed a serious usage issue with it, I could not identify which are the wifi devices connected to choose for access restriction or parental controls, as the dialog box state only as "Network device", and software control by Linksys does not have any provision to use MAC ID or any other option "except " looking at the dialog box as "Network device".

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just received by replacement e4200 v1. I updated the firmware to 1.0.03 build 14 and am up and running just fine. The specs say e4200 should be 300+450Mbps. I am using a software "inSSider 2.0" to view my wireless setup. I get 144(N) at 2.4GHz and 450(N) at 5.2GHz. Please note these are max bit rates and not connect speed or throughput rate. The "inSSider" software gives me the following:
2.4GHz - 1/2/5.5/6/7/9/11/12/14/18/22/124/28/29/36/43/44/48/54/58/65/72/86/116/130/144
5.2GHz - 6/9/12/15/18/24/30/36/45/48/54/60/90/120/135/150/180/240/270/300/360/405/450
I get this information by hovering on the max bit rate field on the row displaying my SSID. So is it correct to say that my e4200 is not designed to reach 300Mbps at 2.4GHz. There is an earlier discussion thread about connection maxing out 144. Please note I am not talking about connect speed or thru-put speed. Max design bit rates of dual band router labeled e4200.
Just got a e4200. However I also have a cisco av power line adapter which worked fine. However when connecting to the 4200 it doesn't recognize the Internet. Have rebooted, reset switched ports etc. But it still doesn't work. It sees the network but not the Internet. Have tried everything ikon but no luck. Cannot connect my directive to the Internet. If I can't get it to work will have to run a 50 foot cable.
View 5 Replies View RelatedFirmware 1.0.00 on my E4200 Hardware v1.0 provided a functioning 6to4 tunnel through Comcast's 6to4 facility. Windows and Linux clients on my local network discovered IPv6 addresses and were able to use them successfully.Unfortunately, after the upgrade to 1.0.03 this functionality was gone. I missed reading the ChangeLog, which said that the automatic tunneling feature was removed in 1.0.01. The now provided IPv6 functionality works much less well. First, automatic configuration (discovery of the 6to4 via IPv4 anycast) no longer works with Comcast's gateway. If I configure the tunnel manually, by specifying a 2002/16 prefix, I regain IPv6 connectivity, but only for Linux clients on my local network.
Windows 7 clients suffer from the problem that because the E4200 hands out ULA addresses, they end up preferring those ULA addresses when making global IPv6 connections in the IP 'source' field, which of course does not work. It's like putting your company mailbox code as the return address on a letter you send via US Mail. Other home routers, such as the AVM Fritz! (url,...) suffer from the same problem. However, they provide an option to turn off ULA at the router. Is it possible to turn off ULA for the E4200?
