Due to an issue with having to support an ALG enabled phone and a non-ALG enabled phone, I have a requirement that both NAT and RIP be enabled simultaneously, is there a Linksys product that can support this requirement? Or, more preferably a firware upgrade for the E4200 that will support this?

I'm using a WD MyBook Essential 3TB with NTFS, which is on the compatible list [URL]. But the router only sees 746.486GB.I tried the latest firmware 2.1.39.145204(Smart WiFi) and 2.0.37.131047(Classic). Neither of them recognize the 3TB HDD.

I'm considering the E4200V2 for deployment in this medium-sized biz environment, but I want SNMP support. Is the E4200V2 a suitable choice? Several reviews have been favorable, but I find no mention of SNMP implementation.

It says nothing about only being able to connect one. Since I have 3 USB drives and 2 USB printers, that sounded great. Setting it up, it seems that this port will not use a HUB, and can only be used for one USB device. How can that be? That is so limiting as to be nearly useless.

I prefer keeping stock firmware where possible but I need this functionality, it really isn't a big ask.That said I have an E4200 v1, which already looks like abandonware given it's been 6 months since the last firmware update - not amused and no intention of swapping a high performance router for one that sacrifices performance for better NAS functionality.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a small motel and I provide net access to guests via the E3000 2.4Ghz band. There is no problem here. I also have set up the 5Ghz band for employee access. The networks are designated Bates Guest for the 2.4 Ghz network and Bates Private for the 5 Ghz network (yeah, believe it or not it really is the Bates Motel). As I said, the guest network is operating just fine. The private network on the other hand is giving me fits. The remote devices are not seeing the private network and, yes, the SSID is enabled. I can see and use it with my iPad no problem but my iPod does not. None of the remote users can see the private network. BTW I admin the router/network from a Win 7 desktop setup. Whats bugging me is how one of my two remote devices sees and uses the 5 Ghz network and other one does not.
View 9 Replies View RelatedOk, so I recently upgraded to a Linksys E3200. I am trying to get the QoS to work properly. I know that it is supposed to prioritize network traffic, so that if I have busy traffic but I am playing an online game, it should keep my gaming from stuttering while slowing other traffic down.
The problem is that every time I enable QoS everything slows down dramatically. I had a 200MB download that was going to take 5hrs with QoS enabled, that took 10min with QoS disabled. And with QoS enabled I can't even watch a youtube video without it pausing to buffer every 10 seconds. And that was the only PC/device using the network at the time. Again turning off the QoS WMM option solved the problem. I have noticed this problem with multiple routers and brands and usually just disable QoS as soon as I set up a router, however I heard that I won't get the full benefit of 300Mbps without QoS enabled.
I don't have any special Voice over IP needs, or video streaming etc. and I rarely am using multiple network devices at the same time. Is there really any reason I should enable QoS? Also I never really play with the settings for QoS, I just figure that since it comes enabled by default it should work for the average consumer.
I have both the WRT54G and a E1000 wireless routers and this problem is occurring for both of them.I use AT&T DSL and the speeds are fine when it is :
1. Not plugged into router
2. Wireless Network Mode is disabled through the router configuration page, having all devices wired.
However when wireless network mode is enabled, speeds drop significantly, 15~17 ms ping goes to 250~800 ping, and download speeds are way lower also. When the router is reset, the regular speeds will return for maybe 30 seconds to 1 minute, then it'll drop back down. I'm positive there's no outsiders connected to my network and this problem still occurs, only when the router is giving out wireless signals. Sometimes the problem randomly goes away for a while but it will always come back. I've tried many things, firmware upgrades, factory restore, none of them seem to work, the only solution so far has been to disabling it, but I need it to be on as there are other devices in other rooms of the house that need WiFi to connect to the internet.
E3200 works great until I enable QoS. The device uses QoS and works find until reboot. If QoS is enabled and the device is rebooted, its stops routing from LAN side to Internet side. Administration-->Diagnostics allow me to ping/trace route to Internet sites and local LAN clients but cannot reach Internet from local LAN.
Windows networking icon indicates "No Internet access". I can ping other devices on local LAN.
Disabling QoS restores routing and you can re-enable QoS after that and all is well. Unfortunately, if there is a power failure when I', not there to disable/re-enable QoS afterward, other household members can't use the Internet till I get home.
Wondering if any other QoS users have observed the same problem.
I purchased a Linksys EA3500 about two months ago, brought it home and set it up with my DSL provider and everything was great, until sometime last week, and since then my download speeds have just plummeted to basically nothing. I did some troubleshooting but I cannot seem to find what the issue is. I have checked all the cables etc, and I know that it is definitely something with the router itself..My current Speedtest.net speeds are as follows (I am paying for a 5mb connection) with the EA3500.Ping of 15ms Download speed of .67mbps, Upload speed of .60mbps.When I remove the router and hook straight to the DSL modem I get the following results.Pink of 12ms Download speed of 4.89mbps, Upload speed of .60mbps
- I have tried to reset the router both by holding the reset button and through the configuration application.
- I have enabled and disabled wireless to see if that was slowing things down
- I have plugged in my old WRT54G and I get the 12ms, 4.89mbps,.60mbps results on it (so I know its the EA3500)
- I tried putting the computer in the DMZ
- I have changed the ports that the computer is plugged into
- I have disabled and enabled IPV6 on both router and network card
- Firmware version - 1.1.38.134141
I have a VOIP WiFi phone (MIC505W) I have configure it according to the user manual.I get access to WiFi, but when I dial a number I get busy signal with the message "disconnet".
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just bought an ea6500 to replace my old Billion router and up to now all I've had to do is plug my phone line directly into the "phone line in" port on the back of the billion router. But I see there is no "phone line in" port on the ea6500, I don't use a modem and have used the billion router by itself for the past 6 years, is there a way to connect my phone line directly to the ea6500 somehow? My research so far indicates you can't do it via an 'Ethernet / phone line adaptor' as they are incompatable anyway.
The install guide seems to expect a Modem is being used but in my case it hasn't been and I would think a router should perform the basic functions of a modem anyway ?
My concern is that if I really need to purchase a modem then won't this potentially 'throttle' the capabilities of the ea6500 which is the reason I've bought it in the first place ?
If I do need to purchase a modem to get my ea6500 working then what specs should I be looking for ??
I have the WRT120N. It seems to work for the computer and for Netflix through the BluRay, but I cannot connect my Kindle, my son's Kindle or either my ormy husband's phones anymore. They used to work.
Also, the free trial of Network Magic is over and it can no longer be purchased. Do I really need something like that?
I recently purchased a smart phone that can use my wireless access to get to the internet, however the phone cannot connect. I have verified that I am using the correct password and it is finding the network just fine, it just can't connect. I have had this problem with my laptops as well, but with them I just copied the key to a USB key and used that to get them going. I don't have that ability with the smart phone.
how to best troubleshoot this issue and resolve it? I have also reset the router to allow anonymous internet access with no positive result there either.
The last couple of weeks the phone line has been dropping until I unplug for about 30 seconds to reset. It is happening more frequently. The phone service through TMobile gets a dial tone and rings several times then drops when making a call.

I have a cordless phone which broadcasts on 2.4ghz - when the phone is being used it cuts out the wifi. I thought that with the E2500 being a dual band - I wouldn't have this issue as I thought the router would switch to the 5 Ghz frequency if there was interference on the lower band. Maybe I am not understanding how the dual band works.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've got a router in room where my cable modem comes in. In center of house, I have another router, N Ultra Range PLUS, WRT160N.
My laptop, which I use in front room near that middle room router and my husband's desktop, also near that middle room have no problems. My desktop which is right next to the main router in back of house (where the cable modem is), has the weakest signal. I guess that's because the WRT160N is further away from it and has two walls to go through. But most of time signal was good - just not as good as the other two computers. And even when signal was Low, it never dropped connection.
Recently I got a new smart phone with WIFI. Anytime I have turned on the phone and used it, I often then have to refresh my wireless signal or reboot computer because it loses the connection. I read somewhere on internet that this may be because of the additional device but again, it doesn't effect the other two closer computers.
