Since I changed the password on my wireless router{linksys}, my desktop is fine but both laptops cannot find network connection. when I ipconfig/all I get "media disconnected" and no ip address.
View 1 RepliesRecently, I bought the E3200, and tried to configure its ports for gaming. Yet, whenever I would hit save settings, it would say my settings were saved, then return me to the settings page. But the settings would be blank. I tried downloading firmware from the website (which should say September 28), yet it still says I am running the firmware from September 1st, even after I applied the upgrade and followed through with the 50 second reboot process.
So, I guess my final question for any tech savvy person out there is "What is wrong with my router/firmware?" I am running the browser config in the most recent Firefox on the same MacBook I used to install the router, and haven't changed any settings other than the SSID and password.

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy son decided to update our router firmware, together with this the password was changed. My computer which hosts the Internet connection works fine, all other laptops have now been connected successfully after simply changing the password. However my wifes laptop won't play ball. It is a Samsung R510, with Vista Home Premium OS. It worked fine prior to updating the firmware. I have been through the process of changing the password and have the correct security encryption in place, exactly the same process as with the other laptops.
It then says successfully connected, but shows in the bottom right of the screen, Unidentified network access local only and will not connect when the browser is opened. I have tried to diagnose but the usual windows prompt to reboot both modem and router has no effect. I have set it to private, as advised elsewhere, I have switched the firewall off and removed security software, all to no avail.
I tried the command prompt, then ipconfig/renew. An error occurred while renewing interface Wireless Connection: unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed out. No operation can be performed on Local Area Connection while it has media disconnected. Let me stress that no changes were made to the laptop at all, it is simply not connecting following the firmware update and password change. All other computers, and phones, 6 in total, are all working fine from simply changing the password.
I have a Linksys E3000, have had it successfully connected for three months now. Recently I attempted to connect my xbox 360 to the wifi and had issues connecting it. So I called ATT to obtain the PPPoE username and password, which they reluctantly gave me. Entered that into the xbox and still unable to connect, so I have given up on the xbox for the time being, I'll post that issue in a different forum. Where my issue is now is since contacting ATT the WPA2 password I set up for the router no longer works. I cannot access the router setup page, and I cannot add any new wifi devices. Although, all of the previously connected wifi devices are still connected to the router despite this issue. Is there anyway to make the old password work, or do I have to reset the router and start from scratch, and God forbid contact ATT again?

So I have a small motorola router and it's wireless so if I hook it up to the original 2WIRE that has blocked wifi do you think I can get wifi off the second router with no password troubles or would I have to buy a special router that has no password? Today I wanted to change my passwords on my router Cisco 888e.I connect by telnet my router and access the enable mode.Then, I set my enable password to passwordxxx with the command enable password password1.After a show run, i could see in this config my new password correctly set. Then, I set my enable secret password to passwordxxx (the same) with the command enable secret password password1.I log off the enable mode.Try to log on with the command en but when I type the new or the old password, I receive a 'Access denied' message.
And I'm sure of the new one because on my command line to define it I could see this new password in clear!What are my solutions to access the enable mode again?If I reboot my router, it'll run the previous config file with the old password? I've only worked on the running config file and haven't apply these changes to the nvram.
I returned to work and found a note that my Outlook and Windows password had been changed during the night by the IT department. Why would they need to change my password? Are they monitoring my work somehow.

When i look in the failed attempts i see the following Auth failed - External DB user invalid or bad password or on another occasion internal error or EAP-TLS or PEAP authentication failed due to unknown CAcertificate during SSL handshake.
I try to change password on the ASA 5520 device and its not getting changed.

After that I perform a write memory.
But somehow I relogin again the enable password still remain as the old enable password

I had to change from a WRT300N wireless router which died to a new E2500. I noticed that the speed my computers report that they are connected to the wireless network connection is now 144.5 mps, versus 270 mps with the WRT300N. There is no change in location of the devices or computers. The computers use a WUSB300N adapter.Is there a setting or setup that needs to be changed?

I went on speedtest.net and compared the download speeds between my old ISP and the new one and it turns out it was the same; 7mbps. Either the technicians who came over to setup the new internet messed up or the WRT120N is having problems.

I still could not log in using "admin" and the password I set up. I thought I was losing my mind. Just on a hunch, I used the SSID name instead of "admin", then entered the password that worked. I am able to login, but I need the username to be admin, not the SSID. Has anyine else had this issue? Any way to change the administrator name back to admin??

Now the router stops transmitting a signal intermittently for about a minute before coming back on line. The time between droppages is also not the same. Before the firmware upgrade (and the change in security settings) the router was rock solid. Where I can get the older version of the firmware (which seems to be more stable than the current version)?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a wrt160n router set up at a friends house that i would connect my windows xp laptor to when i would go there. it always worked fine. i recently got a new laptop with vista 64 bit OS. i went to my friends today and connected via wireless for the first time. i expected to get prompted for the security key. instead it asked for the pin #. the pin number was something new i noticed when i replaced an older linksys with the new wrt160n so i had it in my notes. i entered the pin number and connected to the wireless router. but then my friend laptop could not connect and said it couldnt find the network. when i viewed the available networks, i noticed that the original network SSID had been changed to my vista laptop's computer name. i had to physically connect my laptop to the router and reconfigure the settings of the wireless network. then my friend was able to see the available network and automatically connect..

1. 'Error' Interface BVI1 Changed to up
2. 'Error' Interface Fast Ethernet0 Changed to up
3. 'Error' Interface Dot11Radio0 Changed to up

Why these interfaces coming 'up' would be an 'error'? Seems almost like hardware failure/s. So we have been investigating on several 1130AGs bought from different places, with different configs and still get the errors. The APs appear to 'work' (i.e. basic config, wireless working, clients assoss., data flows to internet and back through APs) but the error causes the event log to show 'error' and for the status LED to turn 'yellow', instead of 'light green' (light green when working normally and no clients assos).
I have worked with many cisco APs and never ran across these two errors.
At first I thought it was a power issue, as the AP will boot up in low power if it doesnt think it's getting enough power, which could cause the IOS error possibly. But all of our APs are powered by wall plug cisco 48v OEM plugs, no POE injectors or switches. We even changed the settings in power of the IOS to 'pre-compatiable' POE and similar and still recieve the error and yellow LED status light. We looked into this power issue because we wanted to rule out if these was what was producing the errors that were reporting.
The second thing we did was setup the test APs with a very basic config, one ssid, no security, as to rule out a config error and also, no config will make the radios disabled, so without a basic config the APs cant be tested anyway (since the radios are now disabled from default). so we tested very basic configs and still getting the error and yellow LED (which all manuals say it should be light green normally working and no clients). all config changes brought wireless up and we can connect clients and data flows but still the errors stay and yellow LED once all clients disconnect. Note; when clients connect the yellow LED turns to light green, but thats not the colors the manual states they should be which is odd).
Third, a couple engineers suggested this error was from the AP scanning channels to choose the least congested (default config) and it will pick a channel but produce this error still and go yellow. We changed the configs to the least congested channels and it reboots and still gets these errors.
We have tried several IOS software packages, some newer, some older, all auto. though, no LAP.
We googled the errors but could only find ONE post with these errors. Some engineers said these errors are 'normal' and they have seen them before, but theres nothing on the web about the errors and we have owned 20-40 different cisco IOS APs and never seen this, and we have the same issues with 4 1130AGs, all in almost new condition, bought from different places.
Unless you have opened a 1130 many people dont know the status LED is actually 3 LEDs (one assembly with 3 micro LEDs, blue, green and red) that combine in color (the micro LEDs light up in different intensities causing many final color combintations), and the LEDs colors mix together via a plastic light guide on the top to show the status LED, and we believe the error is causing the status LED color to be off because the error is making the yellow light up and mix with the other colors causing all the other colors to be incorrect. we have researched trying to clear the error by 'clear logging' CLI command, hoping that may clear out the interface error and turn the yellow LED off because there would be no log of the error, but we have not succeded.
We have some AP keep on disassociating. All together we have 21 APs in the building but only this 7 APs keep on disassociating in every hours.

I have faced some problem with Cisco 1520 Series APs. Since few days, We got the log in wlc 5508 like this
"AP 'MAPNSY#WMI3', MAC: ac:a0:16:5c:45:00 disassociated previously due to AP Reset. Uptime: 0 days, 00 h 22 m 52 s . Last reset reason: operator changed 11g mode."
& then AP is rebooted. Here, I attached the screenshot of WLC 5508 Log.

So I checked with whatismyip.org and let's say with the router, it showed, 29.28.29.450, Then I took the router out and just used the modem and it showed as 29.28.29.449 If I were to use a different router, would it end with 450 again?
