I have talktalk router,I need to change it with Belkin router,how I cant set up a connection? My self I have try but the connection is but router is not connect.

They supplied me with a speedtouch 330 modem which has worked brilliantly, but now i am wanting to set up a router so i can connect to xbox live. I have a Belkin ADSl modem with wireless G router which i have tried to set up a number of times without success. I am trying to set the router up so that it has an ethernet connection to the computer and another ethernet connection to the xbox but i can't set the router up with the internet at all. To start with i am trying to set just the pc up. On the router, the power light is on, the ethernet port light is on, as is the wireless and the phone line one, but the internet light isn't on at all.

3 PCs connect without a problem, 2 wireless and 1 wired, but cannot get it to recognise the Buffalo Linkstation. Netgear uses 192.168.0.1. but Belkin used 192.168.2.etc.
Linkstation setup says Linkstation not connected, but it is.
Have found my self with Big signal loss in some parts of my house. I was recently given a Router and i thought i would use this as an acess point to extend / boost the range of the dead spots. I Then was looking on the Huawei's setting and switched off NAT and the Firewall and tried again.Both Plugged in and Wireless. I have seen a lot of threads on TalkTalk fourms of people doing this but none have the issue i am having.

Now only one laptop is actually connecting to the Internet, but it looks like our network isn't secure anymore. Our 2nd laptop is connected wirelessly to the router, but not the Internet. It looked like it converted to ancient networking software. There's this American Family Insurance (my mother used to work there) connection that I didn't even know was there. When I came back home, my internet connection changed its IP from 192.168.0.205 to 169.254.197.233. The speed changed from 1Gbps to 10Mbps. It has also been at 100Mbps for a while. My subnetmask changed from 255.255.255.0 to 255.255.0.0. The standard gateway changed from 192.168.0.1 to no standard gateway. My DNS servers remain the same.
I have checked the lights of the UTP ports, and it looks like it's only sending a heartbeat every few seconds.
All the cabling is gigabit, my network card is a Realtek RTL8168C(P)/8111(P) Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20). THe modem is a CBN SVG6540E.
I pay for a 50mb service and reguarly check the download speed I was getting. I would always get between 45-50mb. However I went on holiday for a few days, and so I turned all the plugs off at the wall(something I never do) and since I got home im getting speed of around 20-25mb. I called the engineer out but he wasnt able to do anything because when he connected it to his laptop, he was getting speeds of 47mb. He said he didnt know why i was getting such a slow speed through my desktop, just said it must have something to do with my computer.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI can get my new PC to connect to my router wirelessly, but not with a wire. I don't get a blinking green light on the ethernet port, but only a continuous orange light. With wi-fi, the PC gets through, obtains an IP address, it's not being blocked on the MAC address.Now, I have the following reasons to think the problem is in the router:
- It's not only my new PC I can't connect with a wire--any other device, Mac or PC, doesn't work, but works with wi-fi;
- my old PC connects fine with a wire. I'm using the same wire, on the same Router port when trying with the new one.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently changed my internet connection from a very slow adsl connection (im a LONG way from the exchange) to a moderatly faster vdsl connection. With the upgrade, they force me to use a modem that looks like it was made 20 years ago (although they say its had all the internals upgraded a month ago) leaving me to use a seperate router for wireless signal. I bought a bellkin F9K1002 v3 and after a little hassle had it up and running, the network connection between all the systems is great, but the router drops the internet connection every 30-120 seconds, for 15-20 seconds each time. I have about 10 devices connecting, but problem is there with just 1 connection wired or wireless.
I've tried calling my ISP (who will not touch router settings) and belkin tech support (who sound like they touched their first computer about 22 seconds ago) with no improvement. I've connected directly to the modem and had perfect connection for 12 hours, ruling it out of the equasion. I've disconnected all systems but one at a time, trying on 3 systems, with no improvement. I've turned off firewall, WPS, tried multiple wireless settings (channels and such) updated firmware all with no improvement. Here's a sample of the system log on the router:

I have a Compaq with XP wired on a Network with a Belkin N600 Router.There are 5 computers on the Network, (4 wired, one wireless) and this is the only computer that I have problems with connectivity. It connects to the Belkin through 2 switches.Typically when I turn the system on it connects, downloads mail, etc. After a short period of time there is no connectivity to the network for printing nor the internet.I may get connectivity randomly again after a while, but you never know if or when you will get connectivity again for sure. I am using Explorer.I had loaded some Belkin software with no luck so I uninstalled it. The other computers have no special software for the router.

However, when connecting using either a windows 7 or windows XP laptop the internet connection is lost after a couple of minutes. I can't work out the cause of the problem but resetting the router gives a couple of minutes of browsing before it goes again. I have tried using static IP addresses for the laptops but this hasn't worked, furthermore I have tried a winsch reset.

Sometimes unplugging it for a while fixes it, sometimes unplugging it for a LONG while fixes it, sometimes prayer and chanting fixes it. But most of the time the red light sits there mocking my efforts.What's making this happen? Is it my wireless security settings? Because I used to try and fix it by pressing/holding down the WPS button.

The wireless router works fine - I have several devices that will connect wireless with no problem. The hp desktop I'm trying with the wired connection is showing that the ethernet connection is working, but it's not asking for the wireless network name or security code, and the internet will not work?I made sure the desktop was set up to automatically obtain IP addresses, then I did the "ipconfig /flushdns / ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew commands, but it still won't work.

The install seems to have gone fine and the firmware has been updated to the latest version. PCs/laptops/PS3s/phones can all connect to the router both wired and wireless. But the modem seems to be dropping its connection to the internet at regular intervals - sometimes every 15mins, other times less. The security log mentions "PPPoE disconnected" after which it reconnects.Has anyone got an idiot proof list of what I should be checking? My old Net gear DG834PN does not have this problem at all so it really has to be the router rather than the line - at least that is my guess.

I work from home and connect to my office computer through Remote Desktop Connection.I purchased a Roku2 video streaming player and bought a Belkin N150 wireless router in order to get the signal from my desktop computer out to the living area where the Roku is located. The connection with the Roku is perfect. However, my remote desktop connection now disconnects constantly and internet browsing on the local computer is very slow and choppy.The configuration I used is 1) Belkin ethernet wire from Belkin to back of modem 2) modem ethernet wire from Belkin to computer.If I remove the Belkin and put everything back the way it was, all is fine ... but, of course, we then have no Roku.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've recently replaced my router with this Belkin (F5D7230uk4) Router, (this one without the wireless reciever Whenever it's used for online gaming, either on my computer, my playstation 3, or my brothers computer the router will lose connection after about 5minutes, then return within about 30 seconds. This happens every single time without exception, and have not been able to play for longer than 10minutes on any occasion since changing the router. I've tried connecting straight to the modem and it all functions correctly with no problems, so I am certain that it is something that needs to be setup with the router. I've searched many forums and posts from people having similar problems, and followed instructions to disable router firewall, disabled UPnP and NAT etc with absolutely no success whatsoever.

Previously I had a Netgear router and it was working no problems at all.I have port forwarded (virtual server on Belkin) port 3389 TCP to the servers IP address.I can get Remote desktop connection to work when I am within my LAN by just typing the computers name.However when I try to connect via the IP address, as I would if I were away from home, then I get the message that says "remote desktop cannot connect for one of these reasons
1) remote access not enabled (it is because it worked before)
2) remote computer is turned off (no it isn't)
3) remote computer is no available" (yes it is cause can connect from LAN)
Turned off static IP for my server and let the router assign IP, and changed the IP address in the port forward, same, no connection.Double, triple checked my IP address, as this obviously changed when I plugged in the new router.Have updated to latest firmware for router and NIC.
ISP is Virgin media with whom I have been with for a number of years.Recently discovered that the package I have which is only broadband ,speed at approx 10mb at a cost of £22.50 has been overtaken by new package of a wireless/ethernet hub, which replaces my old tin box router, with a min speed of 30mb for the same price!As soon as I raised the obvious query with Virgin the router was placed in the post to reach me by next Tuesday.

So I checked with whatismyip.org and let's say with the router, it showed, 29.28.29.450, Then I took the router out and just used the modem and it showed as 29.28.29.449 If I were to use a different router, would it end with 450 again? Or an entirely different number, because the router is of a different brand? I'm assuming having a router is good for protection from malware, trojans and what not?

Time Warner sent out a serviceman while I was at work and apparently he "Changed the IP Address".Now when I try to connect via my router, I get constant DNS errors (Windows 7 64 Pro).

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy son decided to update our router firmware, together with this the password was changed. My computer which hosts the Internet connection works fine, all other laptops have now been connected successfully after simply changing the password. However my wifes laptop won't play ball. It is a Samsung R510, with Vista Home Premium OS. It worked fine prior to updating the firmware. I have been through the process of changing the password and have the correct security encryption in place, exactly the same process as with the other laptops.
It then says successfully connected, but shows in the bottom right of the screen, Unidentified network access local only and will not connect when the browser is opened. I have tried to diagnose but the usual windows prompt to reboot both modem and router has no effect. I have set it to private, as advised elsewhere, I have switched the firewall off and removed security software, all to no avail.
I tried the command prompt, then ipconfig/renew. An error occurred while renewing interface Wireless Connection: unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed out. No operation can be performed on Local Area Connection while it has media disconnected. Let me stress that no changes were made to the laptop at all, it is simply not connecting following the firmware update and password change. All other computers, and phones, 6 in total, are all working fine from simply changing the password.
cisco 2561xm router with WIC1-adsl card and NM-16ESW switchIOS: c2600-ipbasek9-mz.124-23.bin ,I recently had to temporarily disconnect my above router for a few days and replace it with a cheap plastic home router and was embarrased to discover my adsl broadband speed shot up 45% with the cheap router. With the cisco 2651XM I always got a max download of 400kb/sec but with the cheap router I was getting 580kb/sec. Clearly something is wrong with my cisco config, I put this down to the mtu setting, which in the cheap router wasn't shown but set to auto. I've tried different mtu settings in the cisco router (including 'no mtu' but never get more than 400Kb/sec.My isp indicates optimum mtu is 1500 but that doesn't produce any speed increase.What can I do here to get the cisco router working to maximum speed?
