Have found my self with Big signal loss in some parts of my house. I was recently given a Router and i thought i would use this as an acess point to extend / boost the range of the dead spots. I Then was looking on the Huawei's setting and switched off NAT and the Firewall and tried again. Both Plugged in and Wireless. I have seen a lot of threads on TalkTalk fourms of people doing this but none have the issue i am having.
I have been spending days !!! trying to resolve why my laptop pc disconnects frequently from its wireless connection. No discernable pattern to disconnects, totally random. Happens in cycles of disconnect/auto reconnect or will go hours of stable operation. What I have noticed is tht the connection speed seems to vary, from a hig of 54.0 Mbps to as low as 2.0 Nbps. At same time the desktop pc (hard wired to modem) stays connected at 100 Mbps.Using RCA modem, WRT160n v3 router.
I'm on talktalk and have been for a few years. They supplied me with a speedtouch 330 modem which has worked brilliantly, but now i am wanting to set up a router so i can connect to xbox live. I have a Belkin ADSl modem with wireless G router which i have tried to set up a number of times without success. I am trying to set the router up so that it has an ethernet connection to the computer and another ethernet connection to the xbox but i can't set the router up with the internet at all. To start with i am trying to set just the pc up. On the router, the power light is on, the ethernet port light is on, as is the wireless and the phone line one, but the internet light isn't on at all.
I have talktalk router,I need to change it with Belkin router, how I cant set up a connection? My self I have try but the connection is but router is not connect.
My Motorola SB6121 DOCSIS 3 modem is connected to a Medialink n-band router. Sometime in the morning (usually between 7am and 9am, the router loses the ability to see the modem. I can access the router's control panel, and I see 0.0.0.0 for WAN IP, Subnet Mask, and Gateway. Primary and Secondary DNS server are both blank. Connection Mode is Dynamic IP.I lose the ability to access the modem's control panel directly (192.168.100.1), even though the PC I use is hardwired to the router. So, I unplug the modem, unplug the router, wait, plug in the modem, plug in the router, and everything works again.I've had more than twelve service calls. Every Charter tech looks at the line, puts in boosters, takes out boosters, replaces splitters, and seems to only look at signal. I've BEGGED Charter to let me speak to an engineer, because my suspicion is that it's something to do with the DHCP server.
I did, by the way, replace EVERYTHING.I have had 5 different modems...same problem. I have had 5 different routers...same problem, including a modem/router combo.I've tried different brands, too.I've disconnected all wifi devices from the router, and rebuilt my PC's operating system. I've even unplugged the refrigerator, because one Charter tech claimed it was "upstream noise."I've been online only a few times when the system actually goes down. What I notice in the router logs is this: [code] So at 9:34, no ranging response - T3 timeout, followed by Unicast Ranging Received Abort Response; then the Cable Modem Reboot due to T4 timeout, and the system time goes to 1/1/1970 at midnight. No ToD.
The last piece of information: Charter installed a second modem as a "test." That was originally in the same room. A month ago they did another line from the box directly to the test modem to skip the splitter on the house. That modem shows the same problems, EXCEPT -- not perfectly in sync. I might see the same error, but the time will be a few minutes and seconds off. And sometimes I'll see the errors, but the modem won't go down.Sometimes the first modem goes down, sometimes the second. I'm accustomed to a router "healing" itself when the modem goes down.It might be off for a bit, but then will re-establish. This Medialink doesn't do that. It forces a physical restart every day. There are other outages too, and all I get from Charter is "the signal strength is good."
There are two laptops in my household, and have just changed my internet provider and received a new D-Link DSL-2680... My Acer 5552 laptop connects to the router and internet with no problems ... yet my Acer 5720 will connect to the router but not to the internet via the router .... I believe that I have tried the settings from my providers website
I HAVE TWO COMPUTERS running Windows Xp that are CONNECTED TO A ROUTER THEN CONNECTED TO A MODEM, COM1 THE INTERNET WORKS FINE, AND IS SHOWING A LAN CONNECTION WORKING, AND INTERNET GATEWAY CONNECTED, AND THE ROUTER SHOWS UP ON THE MY NETWORK PLACES. ALSO MY WIFI WORKS FINE TOO! BUT COM2 CANT SURF THE WEB, IT DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THE ROUTER IN MY NETWORK PLACES, AND THE INTERNET GATEWAY IS NOT SHOWING UP IN NETWORK CONNECTIONS, BUT THE LAN IS, AND IS SHOWING A CONNECTION. i have tried restarting everything, i tried connecting the COM2 straight to the modem, tried new either cables, nothing wrong with my service or modem or router, its just the COM2
Desktop Windows 7 64-bit -> cable directly to router Laptop Windows 7 64-bit -> wireless Laptop Windows 7 64-bit -> wireless Playstation 3 -> Wireless Xbox 360 LAN cable from router to 360
Scientific Atlanta 2203C modem to a Cisco Linksys E3000 wireless router.Ok, so if I turn everything on I can see all computers from all computers, but after a few hours/days (random time) everything disappears, and I have to unplug the router and then everything is back. Is there a way to stop this, and just have everything just be there all the time?

my dad wants me to get on expanding our home network (getting wireless into other places in the house). i do consider myself pretty tech savvy ( i just built my computer from scratch) but this is a little bit beyond my comfort zone. the 4 ports on the router are keeping me tied up and the size and layout of the house are restricting the wireless range
4 pcs running windows xp to windows 7 3 laptops running xindows xp, windows 7 and windows 7 starter (netbook) 1 xbox 360 1 ps3 (looking to add netflix capable bluray players on 2 tvs in the future)
the downstairs layout (router is the star)
the upstairs (red is range of current setup thats a stretch) (blue wanted coverage)
not to scale and a quick draw the top half of the house is off set from the basement area. i used google earth to estimate the range from the router to the outside area of my wanted coverage area and its roughly 80 feet through 4 walls and the flooring i do not believe theres a single router capable of doing that without dropping some serious cash down.as is all the ports are currently tied up, and id like to expand the number of ports, along with getting wireless to the area i pointed out, i have the capability of pulling hard wire through out the house also.
laptop running xp pro sp3 Pc running xp home sp3.After re-boot or re-start,can access my network places on the laptop. But only once. After, that, will not open my network places.I have tried to open/explore the folder with explorer,it will display contents but not open the shared file selected. The pc can display laptop's my network places folder, but will not open shared file on the laptop.
I have 2 wired desktops and 2 wireless laptops on a small network. Both desktops are running Windows 7. Laptops are with Vista. Everyone has internet accessFor some reason neither wired computer can see the other in the network places window. But both can see the wireless laptops. Network discovery and file sharing are all on and workgroup names are the same.
how to link 3 different places where 2 of them have internet DSL connections.Actually Im running this layout...
Place 1: DSL Modem connected to "Router 1" with DHCP Enabled. 192.168.1.1 and static IP assigned for every element in the network. "Router 1" got this: LAN: 2 computers
[code]....
At this point everything is working fine. Computers in "Place 1" can see computers in "Place 2" over network and share files and printers. Plus "Place 2" have internet from "Place 1".I want now to link "Place 2" to a "Place 3" using the same Nanostation M5 antennas and I can do it the same way I did Place1-Place2, BUT, what about "Place 3" router? it is connected to a DSL modem. "Router 3" should be DHCP Disabled too? What about the internet connection? I would like "Place 2" in the middle would be able to take the internet connection from both Place 1 - Place 3. It can be done keeping computers sharing files and folders between all 3 places?
I'm not sure if this is even possible, but I'm currently changing from saving my documents on my desktop to a server. However, I like working with files from my desktop for ease of use. Is there any way to save a document in the server, while working with the document as it exists on my desktop (e.g. set the file up to save in two locations)?
I have a small business network computers w/a linux server. One computer was infected with viruses which I removed via kaspersky/norton/malware anti-bytes. I run windows xp professional on this computer. However I run into the following problem:
1) In my network places the documents on the server do not show as a network place-this is despite me being able to access these documents via a folder shortcut
2) After I open the network files/folders from the comp, I am unable to use the find feature because the folder is not listed under the look in drop box. I tried changing workgroups and ran into the same problem.
I am having trouble setting up mapped network drive or folder. My server and workstation are set up on a domain with windows server 2008 r2. The server only shows up on my workstation(windows 7) when I put in \server in the search. It pops up then on the left hand side but not in the main window. When I go back to my computer "map network drive" I hit browse and still the server does not show up under the network (but my computer does). When I try to do this on the server, I go to map network drive and nothing shows up under the network. I have even gone into group policies and mapped the drive that way and still nothing shows up.
I am seeing old entries of phantom folders in My Network Places in Windows 7. In XP you could just delete them, but there is no selection for this in Windows 7. How to delete them?
I have been using FrontPage 2003 successfully and recently as of 2 days ago...I wanted to edit the website and the files are ALL missing. UGH!!!! Its very frustrating that I cannot edit the website now and we are missing valuable information. I did see the files when I created a new Network Place with the prefix but I cannot edit and save to our website. Now I did ask MyHosting administrator but they are seriously taking longer to get back to me then needed. I can open Front Page, but of course, cannot publish anything to the website. More so, even just opening the files in server.com is the actual issue because I cannot change the website page. That's the files I need to change in Front Page. I did go to my account settings within myhosting server to the File Manager and YES! I could see all the files....but again I cannot save anything to the website or publish..I DID NOT DOWNLOAD anything over the past few days and have not gone to unauthorized websites that would have provided a virus. Everything else works fine.
In my computer. My network places properties did not see lan card. But the device manager lan card driver is enable but it did not appear in the my network place how it enable .
I have a problem with the e4200 router and a mybook 1 TB connected to it. The media server works fine but after a while i loose contact with the router and the server this means that the Cisco connect doesn't work, the 192.168.1.1 doesn't work and I can't find the disk via \. I do have internet connection via wifi as im using it now....why I loose connection to the router? The lease time is 24h and it can happen more than once in a day.
My problem is that i have a packet loss of like 2% to 6%, which is a lot considering that i play a lot of Online games, causing lag spikes and net frozes.I will say all the information i can about my pc.My PC hardware hasn't been modified, so the manufactor page ( ) tells what is installed in my pc.About software, i need to find if this problem is software-based, my AV is Microsoft Security Essentials and i use MalwareBytes too.About how im connected, im connected via Wireless to a router. (dunno model, i just know its a encore router)
I get 10Mbps download, and 1Mbps upload. I play on wire, not wireless!I have a WRT54G2 router, and I've had it working for around 2 years now. I've been gaming(Unreal Tournament 2004) with it and now-a-days I've been getting packet loss and it is super annoying. I keep getting owned during game play because I skip here and there and it lags sometimes. Also, the laptop upstairs that the family uses sometimes can't connect to the router, so I have to unplug then replug the router for the laptop to connect to the router. Is my router giving up? Its a G router, should I shift over to N anyways?
I had to change from a WRT300N wireless router which died to a new E2500. I noticed that the speed my computers report that they are connected to the wireless network connection is now 144.5 mps, versus 270 mps with the WRT300N. There is no change in location of the devices or computers. The computers use a WUSB300N adapter. Is there a setting or setup that needs to be changed?
I seem to be having packet loss with the E4200V2 which is upgraded to the latest firmware as of today, 1/18/12
The application is accessing a security DVR which uses a RTSP / RTP stream. Of course this requires certian ports to be forwarded in order for this to work. This works flawlessly with a WRT310N or a Cisco 871 Router so I know the port forwarding is correct.
With the E4200V2 it works intermittently, I can replace EV4200V2 with either the Cisco 871 or the WRT310N and there are no issues.
well, i just bought an E4200 and, by the way, was very hard to configurate. But the real problem is: if there is a power loss, both modem and e4200 lights up, but no internet connection is provided.Even the SSID desappear. I trried to disconnected everything, reconnect by parts, but no success.I wired connect the E4200 to my iMac and the router was ok, configurated. Then, i reconnect to the modem and all worked ok.Now im testing possibilities and is i reboot the router, the net desappear and i have to try possibilities till it works.
My older router connected automatically, without a problem, but i decide to buy "the best" brand and its top product". Now im disappointed.. Twice i realize that if the connections drops out, i have to disconnect and reconnect the internet cable from my E4200...
All of a sudden I started experiencing occasional loss of communication with my router. I tried updating the firmware to the latest (1.0.04) but am still experiencing the same thing.I don't lose internet access, I lose connection to the router itself. If I power cycle the router, the connection is re-established and I'm able to access the router and in turn the internet. I'm seeing this on both wired and wireless connections. Last night the Cisco logo actually turned off when I lost connection (this was a first). When I power cycled, connection was restored and the logo lit up again.
