Cannot Access My Network Places
Feb 12, 2011laptop running xp pro sp3 Pc running xp home sp3.After re-boot or re-start,can access my network places on the laptop.But only once.After,that,will not open my network places.I have tried to open/explore the folder with explorer,it will display contents but not open the shared file selected.The pc can display laptop's my network places folder,but will not open shared file on the laptop.

Place 1:
DSL Modem connected to "Router 1" with DHCP Enabled. 192.168.1.1 and static IP assigned for every element in the network.

At this point everything is working fine. Computers in "Place 1" can see computers in "Place 2" over network and share files and printers. Plus "Place 2" have internet from "Place 1".I want now to link "Place 2" to a "Place 3" using the same Nanostation M5 antennas and I can do it the same way I did Place1-Place2, BUT, what about "Place 3" router? it is connected to a DSL modem. "Router 3" should be DHCP Disabled too? What about the internet connection? I would like "Place 2" in the middle would be able to take the internet connection from both Place 1 - Place 3. It can be done keeping computers sharing files and folders between all 3 places?
Connected To Public Wifi With A Range Extender And Now No Internet Access
Jan 15, 2012I work at a Public Safety building in Pennsylvania and our employees here share a Wifi connection with a local hospital facility that is in a industrial park behind us. The room we work in is able to access the Public Wifi but only half of the room has a good connection. I went to the local computer store and purchased a Belkin Dual-band wireless Range Extender and got it all set up, now I have the Public Wifi Extention access and it will connect to it but it has no internet access. Now we have no access to the administor or the network from our facility. How do i get internet access thru this range extender? If i connect from the good half of the room to the Public wifi i have a good connection with internet access but as soon as you put it thru the extender no more internet access.

We bought the block of 16 IPs (in a different subnet) which is routed through the main router (69.x.x.x)and configured the outside interface of ASA with a public IP 64.x.x.x and subnet mask 255.255.255.240. Below is the network structure.
But, we can't access the ASA by it's public IP.

Oct 2, 2012I am trying to provide internet access to public and private SSID's on Cisco AP541n using VLAN's connected directly to ASA5505. VLAN1 is inside interface (private) and VLAN12 is wlan interface (public SSID). The AP541n is plugged into switch port 0/7 on an ASA 5505.Port 0/7 is configured as trunk mode. I have internet access when connected to private SSID but no internet access when connected to public SSID. why I can't access internet on public SSID?

Just i changed the default IP to the new ip i will use.The Router is accessable from the LAN only but not from the internet configured the Public ip . I have a LAN and a DMZ and an internet connection. I am using one of the internet connection IPs to host a HTTP service on a server in my DMZ. (its the same interface as my internet connenction but a different IP to the one used for internet connectivity)
so say my LAN is 192.168.1.x
and my DMZ is 172.168.1.x
I can access DMZ from Lan and vice versa. when i try to access the public IP (or URL) from a pc in my LAN i get nothing.
I have enabled DNS rewrite (doctoring) but it is still not working. the HTTP service is available from other sites.
Getting Wireless Into Other Places In The House?
Oct 23, 2011my dad wants me to get on expanding our home network (getting wireless into other places in the house). i do consider myself pretty tech savvy ( i just built my computer from scratch) but this is a little bit beyond my comfort zone. the 4 ports on the router are keeping me tied up and the size and layout of the house are restricting the wireless range
provider: comcast cable
modem: arris TM502G (comcast provided)
router: linksys wireless-n wrt160n v3
4 pcs running windows xp to windows 7
3 laptops running xindows xp, windows 7 and windows 7 starter (netbook)
1 xbox 360
1 ps3
(looking to add netflix capable bluray players on 2 tvs in the future)

the upstairs (red is range of current setup thats a stretch) (blue wanted coverage)
not to scale and a quick draw the top half of the house is off set from the basement area. i used google earth to estimate the range from the router to the outside area of my wanted coverage area and its roughly 80 feet through 4 walls and the flooring i do not believe theres a single router capable of doing that without dropping some serious cash down.as is all the ports are currently tied up, and id like to expand the number of ports, along with getting wireless to the area i pointed out, i have the capability of pulling hard wire through out the house also.
Cannot Connect To Public Wireless Access Points?
Apr 6, 2012At home, I use my laptop to connect to my wireless router without any trouble.But at: public libraries, Starbucks, hotel rooms... any free public wifi? All attempts to connect meets with the same error: "unable to connect to network" (preceded by the system hanging for a lengthy amount of time). Windows advises me to unplug the router and plug it back in, which obviously isn't an option.It's annoying to troubleshoot, because I'm only having the problem at times where I have no wired access (hence: no way to get to forums like these and look for an answer, update drivers, whatever).

Scientific Atlanta 2203C modem to a Cisco Linksys E3000 wireless router.Ok, so if I turn everything on I can see all computers from all computers, but after a few hours/days (random time) everything disappears, and I have to unplug the router and then everything is back. Is there a way to stop this, and just have everything just be there all the time?

Cisco Wireless :: E4200 - Small Business / Wi-Fi Access In Public Areas
Oct 5, 2011We are looking into the possibility of putting in some public wireless access in the public areas of our organization. Its a fairly small building in terms of public access and it needs to span 3 rooms in total. We have a spare BT line into the building - ADSL 2+ - and so will utilize that instead of putting them on our network. We would like to run some router based content filtering on the router - but would use open dns if this isn't possible.I could do to find a good wireless router that will cover the 3 areas . Its not a large budget project as there isn't going to be very highly utilized. We are looking Cisco kit - and have drawn up a few options. Initially we were going to go with the 1140's - but these are access points and as per my understanding aren't going to work with the phone line - as it needs to be a wireless router.
The next area was the Linksys E series (E4200) - they do look really good, and they have the content filtering which we like. What the power and range of the E series is? The only issue we might have is its a fairly old building and so some of the walls are pretty thick - one of which is wooden lined.It has the 3x3 mimo antennas and so guess it would provide some pretty good range/power. If the hardware is cheap enough then we may be able to setup the routers in repeater mode - however I'm not sure if the home devices can work that way? - I think max would be £300 - but that will be decided when I have some better numbers.

Nov 9, 2012I want to use one (or two) AP1232AG-E-K9 access points for Internet connection through a public wireless network (BTFON), where wire broadband is not an option. I've downloaded what I think is the correct manual for the APs and I'm now scratching my head as to where and how to start setting them up. I want to use these Cisco APs in the hope they will give me better wireless performance than I'm currently getting, which is frequently flakey. I've tried to reset the APs to the factory default but there seem to be different ways of doing this depending on what you want and what you've got. I made up a console cable to access the console but there even appear to be different versions of this so I'm not sure if the cable I have is the correct one. I have setup and used lower end wireless devices in the past but these Cisco units seem real complicated.

With an RDP app, i can access my work network from multiple public locations from my iPad. At home, on my laptop, I start the cisco client then use the windows rdp, presto i'm in my work network. At home on my iPad I can activate the VPN, but I can not connect with rdp. I spoke with linksys support tonight they had me add port 3389 to port range triggering and disable the firewall on the home router. This didn't solve the problem. To recap: 1) I can connect to my work network with rdp from multiple public locations, but not at home with the iPad 2) I can connect to my work network at home with my laptop with the cisco client ant the windows rdp

Nov 13, 2011I brought my desktop PC thinking their would be an ethernet port in the room but there isn't. I went out and bought a Belkin USB Wireless N150 network adapter and I download things at roughly 25kbps which just... sucks. 1) In my network places the documents on the server do not show as a network place-this is despite me being able to access these documents via a folder shortcut
2) After I open the network files/folders from the comp, I am unable to use the find feature because the folder is not listed under the look in drop box. I tried changing workgroups and ran into the same problem.
Server Not Showing Up In Network Places (2008 R2)
May 18, 2011I am having trouble setting up mapped network drive or folder. My server and workstation are set up on a domain with windows server 2008 r2. The server only shows up on my workstation(windows 7) when I put in \server in the search. It pops up then on the left hand side but not in the main window. When I go back to my computer "map network drive" I hit browse and still the server does not show up under the network (but my computer does). When I try to do this on the server, I go to map network drive and nothing shows up under the network. I have even gone into group policies and mapped the drive that way and still nothing shows up.
