Network Places Not Show Up In Windows Search
Jun 21, 2011I have a small business network computers w/a linux server. One computer was infected with viruses which I removed via kaspersky/norton/malware anti-bytes. I run windows xp professional on this computer.However I run into the following problem:
1) In my network places the documents on the server do not show as a network place-this is despite me being able to access these documents via a folder shortcut
2) After I open the network files/folders from the comp, I am unable to use the find feature because the folder is not listed under the look in drop box. I tried changing workgroups and ran into the same problem.

Jun 14, 2011I am seeing old entries of phantom folders in My Network Places in Windows 7. In XP you could just delete them, but there is no selection for this in Windows 7. How to delete them?

May 18, 2011I am having trouble setting up mapped network drive or folder. My server and workstation are set up on a domain with windows server 2008 r2. The server only shows up on my workstation(windows 7) when I put in \server in the search. It pops up then on the left hand side but not in the main window. When I go back to my computer "map network drive" I hit browse and still the server does not show up under the network (but my computer does). When I try to do this on the server, I go to map network drive and nothing shows up under the network. I have even gone into group policies and mapped the drive that way and still nothing shows up.

Jan 29, 2012I have been using FrontPage 2003 successfully and recently as of 2 days ago...I wanted to edit the website and the files are ALL missing. UGH!!!! Its very frustrating that I cannot edit the website now and we are missing valuable information. I did see the files when I created a new Network Place with the prefix but I cannot edit and save to our website. Now I did ask MyHosting administrator but they are seriously taking longer to get back to me then needed. I can open Front Page, but of course, cannot publish anything to the website. More so, even just opening the files in server.com is the actual issue because I cannot change the website page. That's the files I need to change in Front Page. I did go to my account settings within myhosting server to the File Manager and YES! I could see all the files....but again I cannot save anything to the website or publish..I DID NOT DOWNLOAD anything over the past few days and have not gone to unauthorized websites that would have provided a virus. Everything else works fine.

Scientific Atlanta 2203C modem to a Cisco Linksys E3000 wireless router.Ok, so if I turn everything on I can see all computers from all computers, but after a few hours/days (random time) everything disappears, and I have to unplug the router and then everything is back. Is there a way to stop this, and just have everything just be there all the time?

Getting Wireless Into Other Places In The House?
Oct 23, 2011my dad wants me to get on expanding our home network (getting wireless into other places in the house). i do consider myself pretty tech savvy ( i just built my computer from scratch) but this is a little bit beyond my comfort zone. the 4 ports on the router are keeping me tied up and the size and layout of the house are restricting the wireless range
provider: comcast cable
modem: arris TM502G (comcast provided)
router: linksys wireless-n wrt160n v3
4 pcs running windows xp to windows 7
3 laptops running xindows xp, windows 7 and windows 7 starter (netbook)
1 xbox 360
1 ps3
(looking to add netflix capable bluray players on 2 tvs in the future)
the downstairs layout (router is the star)
the upstairs (red is range of current setup thats a stretch) (blue wanted coverage)
not to scale and a quick draw the top half of the house is off set from the basement area. i used google earth to estimate the range from the router to the outside area of my wanted coverage area and its roughly 80 feet through 4 walls and the flooring i do not believe theres a single router capable of doing that without dropping some serious cash down.as is all the ports are currently tied up, and id like to expand the number of ports, along with getting wireless to the area i pointed out, i have the capability of pulling hard wire through out the house also.

DSL Modem connected to "Router 1" with DHCP Enabled. 192.168.1.1 and static IP assigned for every element in the network.

At this point everything is working fine. Computers in "Place 1" can see computers in "Place 2" over network and share files and printers. Plus "Place 2" have internet from "Place 1".I want now to link "Place 2" to a "Place 3" using the same Nanostation M5 antennas and I can do it the same way I did Place1-Place2, BUT, what about "Place 3" router? it is connected to a DSL modem. "Router 3" should be DHCP Disabled too? What about the internet connection? I would like "Place 2" in the middle would be able to take the internet connection from both Place 1 - Place 3. It can be done keeping computers sharing files and folders between all 3 places?

Jun 3, 2012after upgrading from Prime LMS 4.1 to 4.2 (Windows version) the "All Devices" group and all the other system defined groups are empty.
The "Inventory dashboard" shows 397 reachable devices which is correct. I can access the devices when I type the name into the search field in the upper right corner of the LMS page.
When I open a device selector (e.g. from the "Device Management" tab) all system defined groups are empty.
When I make a new user defined group with the definition "IP address contains '1'" I get a group with all devices.

Feb 26, 2008When attempting to configure access controls from the advanced menu I enable the access control checkbox. I then follow the configuration wizard completing each step as directed by the wizard. When I complete the wizard and try to save the rule I get the following error message regardless of how I complete the wizard. "Name can not be empty string". Yes, cannot is misspelled in the message. I have tried every combination of choices in the wizard and many combinations of naming the rule to no avail.
This did work properly on a previous firmware version, probably 1.04 or 1.05. I have not tried back loading to the previous versions to see where it did or did not work. I don't know how well the router goes back and don't really care to reload all the settings again by hand if the automatic recovery doesn't work.I want to use this feature to control what hours certain machines on the network have access to the internet.

Jan 23, 2012I have seen some discussion in the forums regarding user defined groups being empty in LMS 4.0 but not 4.1. I am having this issue in 4.1. Under User Defined groups, I have created 2 logical groups named "Physical Location" and "Switches". These do not contain any actual devices, they are just containers for other groups. Under the Physical Location logical group I have created 2 other groups, Acuna and Hampton. Under the Switches group I have also created 2 groups, HDM and HHC. The criterion for the Physical Location group is based on the first 3 characters of the hostname:
Device.System.Name startswith "hdm"
The criterion for the Switches group is based on the value of a user defined field, Admin_responsibility:
Device.Admin_responsibility equals "HDM"
The Physical Location groups work - the Switches group does not. Both the HDM and the HHC group should contain several devices. The HDM group contains 2, the HHC contains none. If I edit the groups and click "next" until I get to step 3, Membership: Edit, the "objects matching criteria" list is fully populated - it contains the devices that it should contain. However, after I click "Finish" and go to Inventory => Add / Import / Manage Devices there is no change in group membership - the HDM group contains 2 devices and the HHC group contains none.

I'm trying to check history on an ASR. I tested same config on a 3845 and was forgetting the "history filter all". After this I could see history table on 3845 but still history is empty on the ASR1006. The operation started because I can see information with "show ip sla statistics".
know if i missed something or maybe this is not supported in ASR1006?

Linksys Cable / DSL :: WAG120N Empty Admin Page?
Dec 14, 2010I have this problem since updating my firmware from 1.00.12 to 1.0016 (Annex A)
Problem: After leaving the router on for 1 day(dont know exactly how many hours), I tried logging in again on the admin page 192.168.1.1. Auth box appears, put username & password, but blank page after that. Tried using Safari/Firefox and it's the same. Router is working, all the LED lights are good, Internet is working, DHCP and all other config is normal. It's just that I can't access the admin page anymore.
When I power on/off the device, the problem is gone. Admin page is accessible again. But after some number of hours again, same problem blank admin page.
Does it has something to do with the router config like g.dmt/dsl 2 ?

The null username and password for the PPP connection have me a bit stumped. Does the PPP connection not use any authenetication at all? (Is that possible/likely? How could I deubg it?) Or does does the IAX100 supply a chap/pap response with null credentails? (If so, how would I duplicate that using an instruction to a dialer interface?I am configuring an 877 with 12.4T and advanced IP services.

May 19, 2011after switching from a very old ACS 3.2 to ACS 5.2 I'm wondering on how to specify an empty argument in a command set.
Example:
I want to permit:
write
but I don't want to permit:
write terminal
write erase
write network
write core
and so on.
If I specify command="write" and leave the argument field empty, every argument is allowed. This would also permit "write erase" what I don't want.
In ACS 3.2 I could specify command="write" and argument="^<cr>$". This does exacly what I want. The command write with an empty argument is allowed. If there is any argument, the command is denied.
In ACS 5.2 if I enter the same string in the argument field, the "<cr>" is filtered out and in the config is now only the string "^$" which is not working.
how to specify an empty argument?
BTW: ACS View shows only [ CmdAV=write ] in the logs...
