I am having trouble setting up mapped network drive or folder. My server and workstation are set up on a domain with windows server 2008 r2. The server only shows up on my workstation(windows 7) when I put in \server in the search. It pops up then on the left hand side but not in the main window. When I go back to my computer "map network drive" I hit browse and still the server does not show up under the network (but my computer does). When I try to do this on the server, I go to map network drive and nothing shows up under the network. I have even gone into group policies and mapped the drive that way and still nothing shows up.
I just started a new job and on there server running Server 2008 they have a 1TB hd it is mirrored. Issue I saw right away is they save EVERYTHING there. Is there an easy way to just add diskspace like as an external storage or whatever without having to rebuild server and rebuild raid?

why Windows Server 2008 is not a supported OS for Cisco Network Assistant?I am currently evaluating switch management solutions for use with Catalyst 2960 and 3750 series switches, and would like to be able to backup and restore configurations, as well as make configuration changes. My management Server is running Server 2008.Is Prime LMS my only option?
I've just bought a WUSB300N Wireless USB Network Adapter and installed it with theĀ Vista drivers on my Windows 2008 server. Drivers are succesfully installed and the Device status says "Device is working properly" but when I want to connect to a network it doesnot show any networks. I'm sure there are network available because I'm connected now on my other laptop ;-) typing this message.
So I just installed Windows Server 2003 64 bit on an older HP Proliant DL360 G5 and am trying to connect it to my network but neither of the 2 NIC's are showing up under Network Connections... the only option I am given is the ''Add Network Places Wizard''.
I have an ethernet cable plugged into NIC 1 and the LED's work so I know it's not a bad NIC card- do I have to download drivers for the NIC? Do I download them to a USB/CD and then just boot from that?

I have 2 wired desktops and 2 wireless laptops on a small network. Both desktops are running Windows 7. Laptops are with Vista. Everyone has internet accessFor some reason neither wired computer can see the other in the network places window. But both can see the wireless laptops. Network discovery and file sharing are all on and workgroup names are the same.
I HAVE TWO COMPUTERS running Windows Xp that are CONNECTED TO A ROUTER THEN CONNECTED TO A MODEM, COM1 THE INTERNET WORKS FINE, AND IS SHOWING A LAN CONNECTION WORKING, AND INTERNET GATEWAY CONNECTED, AND THE ROUTER SHOWS UP ON THE MY NETWORK PLACES. I have a small business network computers w/a linux server. One computer was infected with viruses which I removed via kaspersky/norton/malware anti-bytes. I run windows xp professional on this computer. However I run into the following problem:
1) In my network places the documents on the server do not show as a network place-this is despite me being able to access these documents via a folder shortcut
2) After I open the network files/folders from the comp, I am unable to use the find feature because the folder is not listed under the look in drop box. I tried changing workgroups and ran into the same problem.
I am seeing old entries of phantom folders in My Network Places in Windows 7. In XP you could just delete them, but there is no selection for this in Windows 7. How to delete them?
I've been reading that the Windows Server Backup that is included with Server 08 R2 is pretty good. Is spending $400 on a third party utility worth it?
I'm asking because we're purchasing a new server soon and I want to know if the included backup is going to be good enough. Will be backing up server state as well as data to tape and possibly an off site server (server 2003) if I get my way.
I have been using FrontPage 2003 successfully and recently as of 2 days ago...I wanted to edit the website and the files are ALL missing. UGH!!!! Its very frustrating that I cannot edit the website now and we are missing valuable information. I did see the files when I created a new Network Place with the prefix but I cannot edit and save to our website. Now I did ask MyHosting administrator but they are seriously taking longer to get back to me then needed. I can open Front Page, but of course, cannot publish anything to the website. More so, even just opening the files in server.com is the actual issue because I cannot change the website page. That's the files I need to change in Front Page. I did go to my account settings within myhosting server to the File Manager and YES! I could see all the files....but again I cannot save anything to the website or publish..I DID NOT DOWNLOAD anything over the past few days and have not gone to unauthorized websites that would have provided a virus. Everything else works fine.
In my computer. My network places properties did not see lan card. But the device manager lan card driver is enable but it did not appear in the my network place how it enable .
my computer is a dell dimension 1100, with a Linksys WMP54G wifi card, running vista home basic. In the wifi thing in the notification area, it shows two wireless networks, One is my normal SSID (Lower Net), and one is "Unidentified network". They are both on one wireless connection (Wireless Network Connection 3). When i try to go on the internet, it says i'm not connected. i tried disconnecting from the unidentified network, but that disconnects me from lower net too.
Desktop Windows 7 64-bit -> cable directly to router Laptop Windows 7 64-bit -> wireless Laptop Windows 7 64-bit -> wireless Playstation 3 -> Wireless Xbox 360 LAN cable from router to 360
Scientific Atlanta 2203C modem to a Cisco Linksys E3000 wireless router.Ok, so if I turn everything on I can see all computers from all computers, but after a few hours/days (random time) everything disappears, and I have to unplug the router and then everything is back. Is there a way to stop this, and just have everything just be there all the time?

I am running a small network of 30 pc. I have installed windows server 2003. Now i want to upgrade it to server 2008 but before that i want to test windows server 2008. That is why i,m looking online for a copy of windows server 2008 with reg key. Is there any good and trusted place to get windows server 2008.
So as far as I can tell our server is not running any AV whatsoever, so I'm buying Kaspersky Small Business with the 10 PC package:Kaspersky Small Office Security | Virus Protection | Kaspersky Lab to install on it and our other PCs, and I was wondering if there's anything I need to know about installing AV on a server.
I have a dedicated windows server 2008 r2 enterprise.I am running an SSTP VPN but only have 2 IP address to connect to the internet on.My issue is that one of the IPs is for the IIS7 etc and the other is for VPN use.How can I apply the same IP to more than one user allowing them to connect all at one. There are in total about 5 users who want to use the VPN service and I dont really want to pay.How do I apply the same IP to all accounts and allow them to connect and all use the same IP at once.
Still trying to get this XP pro SP3 to connect to or log into the server, a Windows 2008 jobber. I get the pop up that says unable to access the server, may be a permissions issue. I am administrator on both though and it should not be an issue plus I can ping each machine from the other. The XP machine does not show up in the network on the server though. The server shows up on the XP but then will not allow me to log into it. I changed all user names and pass codes on all the machines to be the same and it cleared up a number of issues except this one. The network name on the server is Network 2 and on another machine the network is named Network 3. Don't know what this means. This XP machine used to connect to the server without issues. My server guy moved away and well, I am just not that savy on 2008 Server. All the other machines are Windows 7. Oh yes, this is a work group with DHCP from a VPN and a Comcast (bless their souls) gateway.
I have rolled out Terminal Services on Server 2008 R2 for a company I used to work for, it worked perfect the users could go home and browse to our web domain and login and use apps straight from the server.there'd be no Microsoft stuff to be accessed just pure Linux Servers but probarbly if users access the online terminal services on Linux they'd be using a Windows PC
