View 6 Replies View RelatedI've got a ASUS AC66 router plugged into my Comcast cable modem (regular dumb modem), it's running the Merlin (OEM-modified) firmware.I've got a Netgear 3400 router flashed with DD-WRT (latest build), it's a replacement for another N router that died on me.
Anyways, I went to set client bridge like always. Main router is 192.168.1.1 so I set DD-WRT router as 192.168.1.2, set the wireless modes to client bridge with matching SSIDs for my 2.4/5GHz radios, input the correct security keys on the security page (AES), then I put the router in router mode (from gateway) Basically, I followed the instructions on DD-WRT's website, which worked perfectly until the other router died.
This time around as soon as the DD-WRT router reboots with its bridge information saved it immediately causes some sort of conflict on my network and kills the internet and all network connections. All devices lose their IP address. It's like the DD-WRT router is somehow shutting down the network and my default router.
I have been playing on a laptop for the last one and a half year without any problems with the internet. I have never had any lag and a steady ping around 20. On my laptop I was connected to the internet both wireless and with a cable because it tend to lag if I didnt have the network cable plugged in.And yesterday I got my new stationary PC, everything is working amazing but its just one problem. My ping goes skyhigh! On this PC I dont have any wireless connection, only a network cable.I have had this lag now since I got my now computer and its pretty frustrating. On this new computer I have a new anti-virus program (norton) that I am not that familiar with since I used Avira for years so I am not sure if the anti virus protection could be messing something up
View 2 Replies View Related I've had this modem set up for over 6 months and this just happened out of the blue. I had no connection to the internet, and the lights on LAN 1 and 3 were lit (only LAN 1 is in use.) I think I went about this the wrong way because now the LAN lights won't light up at all, and the internet light is always yellow. I know it's not the ISP because well I'm writing this post with my modem plugged directly into the PC.
When I try to reinstall the router using the CD I get an error message stating that the Ethernet cable probably isn't plugged in, although it is, as I followed each step exactly.
Now when I try to plug in the PC to the router I can't access the router webpage, and device manager is showing an Ethernet controller with a yellow exclamation mark under other devices. I don't even know where to start.
HW: C1
FW: I resetted the modem in an attempt to get this working again, so I imagine it's at the default now. Besides I can't access the router page anyways.
Region: NA - Canada
Wired Connection
Factory reset: Yes
ISP: Shaw (Cable)
Modem: Motorolas SB5102 - no built in router
I have an acer aspire 5552 laptop that wont connect to the internet. When I tried troubleshooting I get the message "network cable not properly plugged in or may be broken". When I go through the control panel/system devices/network adapter the only thing that shows is pdanet. Right now the only way I can connect is through my cell phone using pdanet. How can I get my network adapters to show back up?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got a wireless adapter for my desktop and thats what i've been using for years to connect, but now i'm am trying to get a more reliable connection by having the ethernet cable plugged in. Problem is, as soon as I plug it in the whole computer gets extreamly sluggish or sometimes freezes up completely. If I am very patient, I can very slowly do something things. If I open the browser, it probably takes a minute for it to load. Opening the control panel, the window pops-up but none of the icons will appear until it times out. And trying to use the network icons on the taskbar to get into network settings is impossible. Weird thing is as soon as I unplug it and turn the wifi back on, the PC starts responding super quick again within seconds.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have my internet coming from my DSL modem (of course) and running into my wireless router. Once it is in the router I can't get a connection, period. Not even through any of my router's ethernet ports. This wasn't the case until about 3 o'clock yesterday. If I unplug the cable from my wireless router and plug it directly into my computer it runs fine. If I run it through my Micro-Cell tower and into my computer it runs fine. But if I plug it into a router it won't work through Wi-Fi or Ethernet. I have tested the connections of all the ethernet cables I am using. Figuring it had to be a problem with my router (since it was working earlier and the connection only disappears when plugged into it) so I bought another, same problem. What else could it be? PS: I'm using both a MacBook Bro, a PC, a PS3, and a Nintendo 3DS and none get a signal from the wifi. I always keep the PC hardwired through the ethernet ports on the router and use the wireless for everything else

They supplied me with a speedtouch 330 modem which has worked brilliantly, but now i am wanting to set up a router so i can connect to xbox live. I have a Belkin ADSl modem with wireless G router which i have tried to set up a number of times without success. I am trying to set the router up so that it has an ethernet connection to the computer and another ethernet connection to the xbox but i can't set the router up with the internet at all. To start with i am trying to set just the pc up. On the router, the power light is on, the ethernet port light is on, as is the wireless and the phone line one, but the internet light isn't on at all.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI had to move to a remote area in which I can only use a 3G mobile internet connection. The 3G connection is working fine, that is until I plug in my Asus RT-N12 router in order to create a wireless home network between our computers (for file and printer sharing).
For me it seems like firefox is trying to connect to internet trough the router. But that is not possible, since the router has no internet. The only internet is from the 3G mobile internet stick.
How can I tell firefox, that it should look for internet in the 3G connection instead of the router?
Is there any way to access the USB storage I plugged into my router other than using an Internet browser? I was hoping to use it like any other drive on my system.

This has been driving me absolutely crazy but I am glad to have found the source of it. Over the past 4-5 weeks ever since i built my new computer, my computer has always had this wierd high pitch noise. I dont know if its coil whine or not, but the sound signature is def not the same as the coil whine that comes from my 7970 card. It sounds more digital.
What could be the cause of this? And what would the remedy be? My ethernet cable is approx 60 ft so it will be a pain in the ass to replace. Or buy another NIC?
edit: forgot to mention....the noise is constant. Not intermittent with usage. No amount of load or idle on the network changes the noise.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI connected my camera to my router with a network cable. It is a DCS-2121, H/W Ver A2, with firmware 1.04_FR.It received an IP address and I could access it fine with a web browser. Then I configured it to work wireless.I disconnected the cable but the camera wasn't accessible.Since I couldn't find it I re-attached it with a network cable, but this didn't work.So I pressed the Reset button to start over again. However, now I cannot get it to work anymore. When I plug in the camera and have it connected with a network cable to the router the status light remains RED.When I plug it in without a network cable the status led remains RED.When I connect it with a network cable to a computer directly, the status led remains RED.I've tried changing the network settings of my router to use 192.168.0.x as range, but it makes no difference. In all cases the status indicator remains RED.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI think our brand new Belkin router toasted itself after it automatically updated it's firmware. We've had it for three days the first two days we were downloading around 2MB/s, then last night it updated itself and since then it's been crawling around 100kb/s.
I've tried to plug the desktop right into the modem to see if it'd speed back up but it won't give it internet access this way. I've tried rebooting the modem after and before switching cables around but nothing will make it change.
Is there a way that the desktop can get on the internet through the same aircard that is plugged into the laptop? Or will I have to purchase a cell phone card for the desktop too. At the moment both computers are routed thru a satellite modem which I want to get off of.

View 1 Replies View RelatedFor over a year there was no issue with the wireless router, then all of a sudden the connection was lost even though the signal was strong. When trying to figure out what was wrong, I accidentally reset the router. I had not used one before, so I am not too knowledgeable. The router had been my previous roommate's, who had set up the password, etc and I had been using it with that set-up, but now I had no password. I tried to reconfigure and set up a new password through the D-Link administrator, but could not get it to work. It is a D-Link DIR-655 and I am using an iMac. I finally just bought an Ethernet cable and plugged in directly, since I had no password protection. But even with the cable plugged in, I will lose the connection and have to restart the router to get it back - which has even happened while I am using the internet.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought a new router - Medialink wireless-N Broadband Router model: MWN-WAPR150N I had my PC plugged into the router as a direct connection so I can use my Macbook Pro laptop wirelessly. At first, after resetting the modem (Motorola Surfboard model: SB5101), PC was connected properly as internet was working and same for Macbook Pro. However, the PC connection lasted only for a couple of minutes, more or less before it went "dead". I had it diagnosised and repaired but it wouldn't repair the problem. Each time I reset the modem and router, PC connection was fine but again, "dead" after a couple of minutes. Also, I noticed that after Macbook Pro goes to sleep, when it wakes up, it wouldn't connected either and I had to restart it to get it connected. Macbook is the only one that didn't go "dead" after few minutes, only after going to sleep and waking up.Btw, I did reset the router but no luck in resolving the connection for PC.
View 3 Replies View RelatedCan a wireless router be plugged into one of the ports on a wired router?I use a wired router and won't use wireless router because of security concerns. However, I am putting a PC in another part of my house. This PC will have limited types of usage - and security concerns will not be an issue for the type of use that machine will have.Running coax across the house will be difficult. My thought was to use a wireless setup for this one machine. But that would work only if I can plug a wireless Router it into a port on my wired router.
1) Can I plug a wireless router into a wired router?
2) If the answer is yes, will that compromise security on the wired ports because the wireless router is connected to it?
Router (wired) = Linksys BEFSR41; Router (wireless) would be "G"
I'm having some difficulties with the VLAN setup on the SG-200 and the WiFi access point. The access point (a TP-Link WA801N) is only able to access the internet when it is plugged into a port that is on the default VLAN (PVID 1). If I plug it into one of the other VLANs then any clients connected to the WiFi lose access to the internet and cannot access devices on the VLAN. I have previously used this setup with a first generation Cisco WAP4410N. [code]
