My router is connected from modem to router to pc.It is a Linksys WRT160N.When it is plugged in that way, my pc doesn't have internet access but when i plug it from modem to pc it works.

I have an E4200 and I can not get WoL to work over the internet.(I'm assuming it's not actually going out to the internet when I wirelessly wake it using shawn.dynamicservice.com and the subnet, but rather the DDNS name is being resolved through the ARP cache, but I don't know. I'm still learning) Consequently, if the sentence above in parenthesis is correct, I am unable to perform WoL from outside my LAN. What am I missing?
View 3 Replies View Relatedjust got a new supervisor 4 engine for this catalyst 4503 switch that has ios 12.2 (53) SG installed on it. That's quite a bit above the 7.6 i was working with. I'm having a couple issues now. first, I read that it is supposed to be sending out broadcasts automatically to get it's IP address but it doesn't seem to be. the module i'm plugging into there is ws-x4448-gb-rj45, a 48 port 10/100/1000 module in case it matters. it works other than that. I can plug two computers in and see them and i can plug the network in and they'll both get addresses and internet, but i need an IP on the switch. is there a way to send a manual request for broadcast out or somehow set the IP manually? (I know I can do it in the rommon, but that doesn't seem to do anything)
also, the last module in the switch is a 24 port poe ws-x4224-rj45v. the module is recognized, the status light green, the "show interface status" lists it, but it doesn't recognize anything plugged into it. the supervisor is not configured at all yet, so maybe that has something to do with it, but the other module, like i said, works.
So, my desktop, running windows 7, can no longer connect to the internet. It has no problem connecting to the router, but it will not receive packets. I double checked my connection using my laptop and it works with wireless and wired connections, so I know it's something with my desktop. I would really like to avoid doing a reinstall, I don't have anywhere to back my data up to.

I'm worried that the Ethernet has gone bad on the motherboard, but they bought a USB stick for wireless internet, and that didn't work either.I realize I have basically no worth while informationHis router works fine, if you plug in another computer it can connect to the internet, but his computer can't. View 5 Replies View RelatedThe electric went off in my house about an hour ago, causing my computer to turn off as a result. Ever since, the internet on my PC has been acting up.
My internet was working perfectly before the power cut both on my laptop (my mum was using it at the time) and PC, however, while I've got no problems with the internet on the laptop, my PC keeps losing the connection to a ridiculous degree. It'll drop the connection for over a minute at a time, come back on literally long enough for me to refresh/load 1 webpage (~5 seconds), then go back off again for another minute or two.
All the lights on the router are on and I've even cross-referenced (lacking a better term...) the internet connection between my lap top and desk top and my laptop will work fine when my PC is telling me there's no connection and nothing will load on it. It seems to me that something has happened to my desktop when the power went out but I have no idea where to begin to even try to find out what's wrong.
I've tried turning off the router by both the wall and the little button on the back of it, and I've restarted my PC twice as well and still the internet doesn't work properly. My laptop picked up the connection as soon as the router came back on with no problem but my desktop struggled to find the connection and only picked it up after turning the router off twice aand restarting the computer twice as well and as I said, when it finally did find the connection it just keeps dropping it.
I just got a new internet connection after going for 2 years or so without one here at home, now that i have it and got the router installed and all my main computer a desktop (HP Pavilion a6655f Desktop PC) has not been able to connect online using my laptop i've had no problems but would really like to get my desktop online as well, I have tried the windows diagnostic tool tried resting the adapter but that has not worked.

The internet doesn't work with cable nor Wi-Fi and I've tried almost everything, ping, configuring the DNS, IP, disabling everything, enabling everything, nslookup doesn't work, releasing and renewing doesn't work too, and to make things worst.(In the main computer, everything works just fine and the router settings appear to be correct too, my computer also works perfectly fine in other places with WLAN).

I follow the instruction from dlink to install firmware. So I loaded 2.03 and noticed internet connection not working. So then I loaded 2.05 part1 and part2. Still could get internet connection to work but the reason to upgrade the option I wanted worked. So then I loaded 2.06 and still same result. No internet connection. So then I loaded the original firmware back in and internet connection works. Why doesn't the internet work on the other firmware updates. I got the updates from dlink website. View 9 Replies View RelatedI have my internet coming from my DSL modem (of course) and running into my wireless router. Once it is in the router I can't get a connection, period. Not even through any of my router's ethernet ports. This wasn't the case until about 3 o'clock yesterday. If I unplug the cable from my wireless router and plug it directly into my computer it runs fine. If I run it through my Micro-Cell tower and into my computer it runs fine. But if I plug it into a router it won't work through Wi-Fi or Ethernet. I have tested the connections of all the ethernet cables I am using. Figuring it had to be a problem with my router (since it was working earlier and the connection only disappears when plugged into it) so I bought another, same problem. What else could it be? PS: I'm using both a MacBook Bro, a PC, a PS3, and a Nintendo 3DS and none get a signal from the wifi. View 1 Replies View Relatedi have a IBM Think Pad running window xp professional and i can't connect to the internet wireless or plugged in to the router. i have several computers and all can connect to my router.. when i plug in the IBM to the router the PC LINK light on the router turns off and there is no light on the ethernet cable i thought it may have been the cable but it works on the other computers.. I turned off and unplugged the router waited then tuned it back on i also did the same with the computer before connecting them together and still nothing.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI had to move to a remote area in which I can only use a 3G mobile internet connection. The 3G connection is working fine, that is until I plug in my Asus RT-N12 router in order to create a wireless home network between our computers (for file and printer sharing).
For me it seems like firefox is trying to connect to internet trough the router. But that is not possible, since the router has no internet. The only internet is from the 3G mobile internet stick.
How can I tell firefox, that it should look for internet in the 3G connection instead of the router?
Is there any way to access the USB storage I plugged into my router other than using an Internet browser? I was hoping to use it like any other drive on my system.

I turned it on today and it automatically connected to my home network as usual and when I hover over the network icon it says there is Internet Access but when I open Firefox it can not connect to any websites. When I run the automatic troubleshooter, it does not detect any problems with the connectivity.

like today randomly my internet went down. And then everything changed back to its original like my SSID from Netcom it changed back to wireless and everything was default and also the PPP was off so i wasn't able to connect to the internet. So i went to my router setup page on the internet or whatever and turned it back on. So now like the internet on my computer which has a cable to the router works but the wireless internet doesn't work for my laptop nor ipod. I can see the connection on the laptop and ipod but when i try to connect it keeps saying that it is unable to connect.

I was using the wired connection since then until I, at last, was able to use it's wireless connection but it only lasted around a week. After that, the modem light on the router kept on blinking and the internet light wouldn't turn on. I also couldn't connect to the router anymore(wired and wireless), neither could I configure it. So I use the "Diagnose and repair" feature which tells me to either reset the ip address or something or one of my cables is unplugged so I should unplug the modem and router and replug it back it after checking the cables.The resetting the ip address doesn't do jack but if I unplug the router and replug it in, the wi-fi works again...well, until i log off and log back in againI've also tried updating my wifi drivers, run a scan for viruses, and updated all my software. Before when I had a **bleep**y netgear 33 mb it worked perfectly fine. Now this router is has 300 +mb and it stil doesnt work. This router cost me $80 dollars. I am using a MR3420 V2 together with a E398 modem. The connection works well, but I can't do any port forwarding (virtual server). Using another router (Tiny Dovado) with the same E398 modem works flawlessly to forward ports.
