I have a D-Link DIR-655 Router with a Motorola SB5101. When the computer is directly plugged into the modem i get 10Mpbs but when it is connected to the modem (either wireless or wired) the max speed is >3Mbps.
View 3 RepliesMy internet service grinds to all but a halt as soon as I plug in the ethernet cable to my desktop. Nothing is running in the background (that I can determine). Nothing is spamming data up or down (that I can determine). I get 40ms ping and 12Mbps downloads on every device I have until I plug in my big boy; then all the speeds come crashing down to 600ms ping and 0.9-1.4Mbps downloads (including the desktop, I have not been able to play SWTOR for weeks now). It's not the provider, (I thought it was) but I switched from Time Warner to AT&T with the exact same results. ASUS P8P67 Pro; I've had funky issues with USB ports and one SATA port died. Other friends suggest I may have an awful bug and I need to wipe and start over. I wouldn't mind doing that, but I don't have a windows recovery disk (my copy is legitimate).

Is there any way to access the USB storage I plugged into my router other than using an Internet browser? I was hoping to use it like any other drive on my system.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy DIR-601 router with 1.02NA firmware When the wireless is activated and not in use by any device (as shown in the wireless status) I experience major and gradual slowdown of my DL/UL speeds and ping. When I deactivate wireless the problem is solved even though no device was using the wireless at the time of the slowdown. I've tried resetting, reverting to factory defaults, updating the firmware(was already up to date), unplugging the router for a considerable amount of time (2hours+). Even though it's not quite related I've tried connecting directly to the modem just for thoroughness' sake.

We have a 50Mb/s symmetric Internet connection. When we use Internet through ASA the download speed does not exceed 3Mb/s whereas the upstream is at about 45Mb/s. When we connect our LAN directly to 2960 the downstream increases dramatically up to 47Mb/s whereas the upstream remains at about 45Mb/s. Duplex is manually set to 1000/full on all interfaces. All that I have noticed are dropped packets on outside interface (Gi0/0). The reason is unclear.

After a day or so I start to lose speed (down to 5MB) until I reboot the E3000. Then I resume 20-30MB download connections. My wired connections appear fine and don’t experience the slow down. The wireless slow down seems similar to the old memory leak condition of old Windows OS’s. Called Cisco and they don’t have an idea. They had me change a few settings (channel info) but I’m pretty technical and don’t feel that will fix it.
I have a WRT160Nv3 router connected to a CM100 modem. I noticed that over time, perhaps a day or more, the connection speed slows. Usually, unplugging the router for a while then starting it up again restores the speed as per my cable company's speed test. I have called the cable company and their tech support reports a good signal to the house.

My serviceprovider provides 200/10M speed to my modem, and they've checked, that modem is working with 204/10M speed, and computers works also, if using modem in bridged-mode.

Just had my line upgraded to 50mbit down, and 10mbit up. Whenever the router is between the PC and the modem, my speeds drop to 30mbit. If i plug directly into the modem, I get the full 50Mbit. Upload speeds are always 10mbit.I've tried power cycling devices, and even replaced all cables with cat6 (which I know isn't the issue, but i'm just trying to eliminate everything)
I have my internet coming from my DSL modem (of course) and running into my wireless router. Once it is in the router I can't get a connection, period. Not even through any of my router's ethernet ports. This wasn't the case until about 3 o'clock yesterday. If I unplug the cable from my wireless router and plug it directly into my computer it runs fine. If I run it through my Micro-Cell tower and into my computer it runs fine. But if I plug it into a router it won't work through Wi-Fi or Ethernet. I have tested the connections of all the ethernet cables I am using. Figuring it had to be a problem with my router (since it was working earlier and the connection only disappears when plugged into it) so I bought another, same problem. What else could it be? PS: I'm using both a MacBook Bro, a PC, a PS3, and a Nintendo 3DS and none get a signal from the wifi. I always keep the PC hardwired through the ethernet ports on the router and use the wireless for everything else

I turned off and unplugged the router waited then tuned it back on i also did the same with the computer before connecting them together and still nothing.

They got on my mac and changed the Ethernet setting to "manually" instead of "Automatic", then changed the speed to 10mbps instead of "autoselect". View 1 Replies View RelatedI had to move to a remote area in which I can only use a 3G mobile internet connection. The 3G connection is working fine, that is until I plug in my Asus RT-N12 router in order to create a wireless home network between our computers (for file and printer sharing).
For me it seems like firefox is trying to connect to internet trough the router. But that is not possible, since the router has no internet. The only internet is from the 3G mobile internet stick.
How can I tell firefox, that it should look for internet in the 3G connection instead of the router?
I've had this modem set up for over 6 months and this just happened out of the blue. I had no connection to the internet, and the lights on LAN 1 and 3 were lit (only LAN 1 is in use.) I think I went about this the wrong way because now the LAN lights won't light up at all, and the internet light is always yellow. I know it's not the ISP because well I'm writing this post with my modem plugged directly into the PC.
When I try to reinstall the router using the CD I get an error message stating that the Ethernet cable probably isn't plugged in, although it is, as I followed each step exactly.
Now when I try to plug in the PC to the router I can't access the router webpage, and device manager is showing an Ethernet controller with a yellow exclamation mark under other devices. I don't even know where to start.

FW: I resetted the modem in an attempt to get this working again, so I imagine it's at the default now. Besides I can't access the router page anyways.

I am not able to recognize adhoc(wireless) connections when I am using ethernet(LAN) connection. Without LAN I am able to recognize the adhoc(wireless) connections and able to access them also.I am using HP laptop model 6530s with Windows7 ultimate and I have installed the drivers provided in the HP portal.

I have FiOS and their supplied wireless router Actiontec #: MI424WR. I have equipment that uses the newer N signal so I purchased a Linksys E3000 Wireless-N Router. This is working great for my wireless home theater equipment but I am having problems with my wired speed. It has gone from 20 to 30 mbps to around 10 mbps. I have one of the LAN outputs on the Actiontec feeding the Linksys input, I have my computers plugged directly into the Linksys verses the Actiontec. This makes it easier to program the Linksys router. Since I am no longer using the wireless part of the Actiontec there really is no need to be plugged into it. Is there anything I can do get my speed back or will I have to plug the computer back into the Actiontec and move it every time I may need to make a change to the Linksys
View 3 Replies View RelatedI think our brand new Belkin router toasted itself after it automatically updated it's firmware. We've had it for three days the first two days we were downloading around 2MB/s, then last night it updated itself and since then it's been crawling around 100kb/s.
I've tried to plug the desktop right into the modem to see if it'd speed back up but it won't give it internet access this way. I've tried rebooting the modem after and before switching cables around but nothing will make it change.
I have a Zoom 5350 Cable modem/wireless router. When I'm using uTorrent on a wired connection, and DHT is updating, my internet surfing is inaccessible for like 2-3 mins. This is even when I have no DL or UL going. It's really frustrating.
I have a Motorola modem that I tested on and it's fine with the DHT thing. Seems like maybe a setting in the Zoom 5350 is causing a slow down?
I'm getting rid of this modem/router soon. I'm just going to run a cisco e900 with my motorola modem, but I still would like to know if this is a common problem and what possible remedies there are..
Is there a way that the desktop can get on the internet through the same aircard that is plugged into the laptop? Or will I have to purchase a cell phone card for the desktop too. At the moment both computers are routed thru a satellite modem which I want to get off of.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have been using my D-Link Wireless G Router for more than one year now and haven't met any connection problem with it until a month ago. I can no longer access the internet when the Internet cable is plugged in the router. I can access the net when the cable is plugged directly to our desktop. I bought a new router which is TP-Link TL-WR470N but the results are still the same. I tried configuring both routers using DHCP and Static IP settings but nothing changes. Power Cycling doesn't change anything. Renewing the IP, resetting WINSOCK and DNS makes no progress for me.

I don't know where to begin but I have about 4 land lines to the router, and 2-3 wireless computers. But what I notice is that the internet connection is very slow and things drop. My downloads would be incomplete, and streaming is terribly slow. My torrent downloads will always reset. Simply put, this type of internet connection is terrible.

Since the power outage I can only get internet if I run straight into the modem. As soon as I run from the modem to any (tried 3 different ones) router I lose internet. I get a wireless signal on my router. I've reset the router to default settings. I've plugged in another router to the modem to check and I don't get anything from that router either (which was not plugged in during the power outage).
