I am not able to recognize adhoc(wireless) connections when I am using ethernet(LAN) connection. Without LAN I am able to recognize the adhoc(wireless) connections and able to access them also.I am using HP laptop model 6530s with Windows7 ultimate and I have installed the drivers provided in the HP portal.
View 3 RepliesI have three laptops (running ubuntu with different kernel versions) with wireless adapter Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945 ABG. Laptop A ----- Laptop B ----- Laptop CI created an adhoc connection in laptop A with: Essid: 'ad_hoc', IP address: 10.42.43.1, Subnet: 255.255.255.0, Gateway: 0.0.0.0, Now the laptops B and C can see the wireless connection 'ad_hoc' and I can connect to them after setting IP 10.42.43.1 and 10.42.43.2 respectively. So, I created the adhoc connection between 3 laptops. Now, I wanted to check the bandwidth between the different paths. The tool iperf was what I used for TCP bandwidth calculation. The bandwidth between A and B was around 4.5 Mbps , between A and C was around 4.0 Mbps but the bandwidth between B and C (B being server) was 677 kbps whereas C being server was 3.99. I don't understand how can the bandwidth drop so high when B was made the server. The system adapters are identical.

Im able to create a gateway tunnel with two rv042 routers in different locations ( i can see the tunnel connected in the router) but the quick vpn utility is not working , i also tried to use the pptp as server as an alternative( im able to connect using windows connection to the pptp server but whenever I browse any of the four ip's allowed for the pptp server \10.0.0.200-204 it takes me to the documents of the local computer....I attached the configuration for one of the routers it is the same as the other end , just the information is flipped.

I have 2 pc's this one is obviously hooked up to the net, the other one works fine, but when i try and plug it into the modem it tells me no internet connection even when i unplug this one and plug the other in.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy friends and me have been playing games on our laptops over adhoc networks for years now. However, we always have to be in the same room for it to have a good network coverage.
But as we all live in the same boarding house, the rooms can get crowded very easily. We tried playing in rooms next door to each other, but even then the connection was extremely bad.
I'm clueless in any wireless hardware such as routers, but I'm wondering if there is a device which I can plug my laptop to, and then it acts as the 'hub' of the adhoc network, being able to transmit & receive the signals much further out than any of our own laptops can.
My laptop connects to my wireless router and also file sharing with my desktop works. I brought my laptop to my girlfriend's house, where we created a wireless ad hoc network on her desktop using a wireless usb network. She tells me this has worked with other laptops. When I try to connect, it indicares "Connecting..." for about 30 seconds, and then that window disappears, but no connection is made. We have tried various option changes to network authentication and encryption to no avail. Her desktop is running Vista. My laptop is running XP.
View 4 Replies View RelatedA year or so ago, when Verizon was my ISP, I ran a Minecraft server with a Hamachi VPN. I had looked into forwarding ports at the time, but decided to go the VPN route because I wasn't completely sure how to assign a static IP to a computer on the network. I had absolutely no issues setting up the VPN or hosting a server on the network.Recently I decided to give port forwarding a go again. I successfully assigned the static IP and put the port number into my router's port forwarding settings, but the port was still closed. I tried using online port checker tools and having friends try to log into the Minecraft server. No luck.After reading multiple port forwarding tutorials to make sure I had everything correct and double- and triple-checking all my settings, I began to suspect that something else was causing the problem. I have an older router set up as a repeater on the network so my family can connect to the Wifi network from anywhere in our house. Thinking maybe the repeater or even the main router itself was to blame, I decided to try another router. After disconnecting the current routers and setting up a spare router I had, I tried everything again. Still no luck.
I tried opening different ports unsuccessfully. No port I tried opening would work. I decided to give in and just set up Hamachi again, since that had worked flawlessly before. However, after setting up a Hamachi VPN, I realized people could join the "room," so to speak, but could not connect to the VPN itself. Even hosting a Minecraft server over Hamachi wasn't working this time.Assuming it was just an issue with Hamachi, I tried another VPN software. I got the same error - people could log in, but not connect to the VPN. Thinking back to the port checker telling me port 80 was closed, I pretty well gave up.I've walked one friend through setting up a VPN the exact same way I did, and it worked on the first try. I walked another friend through assigning a static IP and forwarding ports. I don't know what's different about my network that won't allow either of these things. I've searched my router's configuration for any setting that would override port forwarding or block a VPN, but I can't find anything.
I just installed a wireless network card and am trying to connect to an adhoc network on another desktop that has a usb network adapter. I have previously connected to that same desktop and network using my laptop, but my desktop will not connect to it. It tries to connect for about a full minute, then it indicates that it is not connected. However, in the description lower in that window, it says "You are currently connected to this network." Any attempt to use the internet, however, fails, so it isn't really connected. Also, on the taskbar at the bottom, it shows the network as disconnected (red "x").
View 5 Replies View RelatedA couple hours ago, I set up a temporary AdHoc to share or "tether" the internet connection from a laptop (which got its internet from a router), to my iPod Touch. It worked fine and everything, in fact I was pleasantly surprised by the speed of it. Since it was a temporary AdHoc, I disconnected, and the network was deleted as expected. After a while I wanted to do it again, but when I tried to make the AdHoc, the option to "Share Internet Connection" has disappeared. I'm really puzzled as it worked just a while back, and now even the option is gone. Did some research on it and found out that it's some weird bug that had never been addressed. It had to do with the LAN and Wireless network adapters apparently and one of them had to have the ICS option checked and the other one didn't (something like that). Here are the screenshots of those settings on both my network adapters. Both adapters are enabled, except the LAN isn't "connected" since my primary way of getting internet is through a router connected to another computer.

I am trying to connect my wireless router into the wired ethernet so that i can create a private wireless network for our room. The thing is, my school realizes what you are trying to do and your browser only displays "you are attempting to access (college.edu) network on an unauthorized wireless network. My friend has made it work by turning off the dhcp with his airport extreme and setting it to create new network instead of extend, but after I turn off dhcp I dont know what i should put in for a static ip/ dns/ what to do at all. I can look at all the connections with ipconfig/all , I just don't know the magic things to put in after turning off dhcp to make this work. I have a netgear wireless wndr 3400 n600 router.

By the way, when doing a 'sh feature' four EIGRP features show up like this: [code] To create the L3 SVI, I go into config mode and attempt to type 'interface vlan 10'. but this doesn't work. These are the only options under the keyword 'interface':

I must be missing something simple but can't seem to see what that is. What do I need to do in order to create an L3 SVI on this 5548?
Unfortunately, it does not appear as if the SRP500 series will allow you to create an ipsec policy where the local or remote traffic selection is 0.0.0.0/0.0.0.0. It wants a specific network. I have a scenario where I want to send all traffic over the vpn tunnel.
Is there a workaround to this or a special way to input "ANY" as the remote network?
I'm able to to create my main network, but unable to create guest network. Already create CP and when connected to the guest SSID, the guest could still see my main network. How to create Guest network?

We find ourselves in a difficult situation with the Cisco VPN Client version 5.0.07.0290 where it keeps giving us an
"Error 42: Unable to create certificate enrollment request"
When we attempt to use the Online enrollment method to create and enroll a new certificate. There is no additional information in the VPN client logs where we have set 3-High for all logs. In addition, Wire shark does not show any packets sent from the machine running the client to the Cisco 3825 router which runs the Cisco CA.
To create and enroll a certificate we do the following:
1. Click on the Enroll button to show the Certificate Enrollment dialog
2. Select Online
3. Select <New> for Certificate Authority
4. Enter http://192.168.120.1 as CA URL (note, 192.168.120.1 is the IP of the Cisco 3825)
5. Click Next to display the dialog where we can enter certificate details
6. Enter details in all fields except IP Address and Domain
7. Click Enroll which shows a dialog with the Error 42 ... message in it.
If we attempt to create a request by using the File method, all works fine, that is, the client creates a file with the enrollment request. The fact that the client does not send any messages to the Cisco CA leads us to believe that we have a problem on the client machine. However, the client does not write any information in the logs, so it is a bit hard to fix the problem. I can provide additional configuration information if required for both the client and the Cisco CA. Note that we have not modified any client configuration. Basically, we installed the client on a Windows 7 64bit machine and attempted the steps listed above.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a 4510R-E chassis with SUP7-E running IOS XE version 3.01.01.SG. I am unable to create a port-channel and apply auto-qos for VOIP.If I configure auto-qos on the physical interfaces, I get this message when I try adding them to the port channel:
"The attached policymap is not suitable for member either due to non-queuing actions or due to type of classmap filters."
Auto-qos is not an available command in the port-channel interface configuration, but if I try adding the service policies that were created by auto-qos to the port channel manually, it lets me apply the input policy but on the output policy I get this message:
"A service-policy with queuing actions can be attached in output direction only on physical ports."
With the input policy applied to the port-channel interface, I tried addign the output policy to the physical ports and I got this message:
"A service-policy with non-queuing actions should be attached to the port-channel associated with this physical port."
Is there a way to get the auot-qos policies applied to the port-channel properly?
