Is there a way that the desktop can get on the internet through the same aircard that is plugged into the laptop? Or will I have to purchase a cell phone card for the desktop too. At the moment both computers are routed thru a satellite modem which I want to get off of.

I just got a new internet connection after going for 2 years or so without one here at home, now that i have it and got the router installed and all my main computer a desktop (HP Pavilion a6655f Desktop PC) has not been able to connect online using my laptop i've had no problems but would really like to get my desktop online as well, I have tried the windows diagnostic tool tried resting the adapter but that has not worked.

The IP address is correct and signal is real strong, excelent according to PC. I put in the security KEY and it connects and says it's ok but no internet.I've tried every thing. When I plug in the ethernet cable everything works fine on line. With Belkin you can let windows start the wireless input or Belkin. I tried both. No luck. I'm sending you this over my ethernet cable. Need Tech support.I have another desktop with Belkin wireless card and it is working fine . I did try to troubleshoot useing it and lost internet on it and had to do a restore to get it back. So afraid to mess with it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy internet service grinds to all but a halt as soon as I plug in the ethernet cable to my desktop. Nothing is running in the background (that I can determine). Nothing is spamming data up or down (that I can determine). I get 40ms ping and 12Mbps downloads on every device I have until I plug in my big boy; then all the speeds come crashing down to 600ms ping and 0.9-1.4Mbps downloads (including the desktop, I have not been able to play SWTOR for weeks now). It's not the provider, (I thought it was) but I switched from Time Warner to AT&T with the exact same results. ASUS P8P67 Pro; I've had funky issues with USB ports and one SATA port died. Other friends suggest I may have an awful bug and I need to wipe and start over. I wouldn't mind doing that, but I don't have a windows recovery disk (my copy is legitimate).

I have a Vostro 460 desktop, recently bought, and then realized it would be better to add wireless router. Bought router and a PCIe wireless mini card that was suggested for my PC on Dell order site. The card arrived and am trying to install. The end plate with the aerial socket is not compatible with the removable access blanks in rear of case. Have I been sent an incorrect or unsuitable card, or is there some trick or adapting needed to install this card?

View 3 Replies View RelatedShare the internet from my laptop to my desktop. I see that others have posted on this subject before but I have been unsuccessful so far. Maybe one of you can point out what is wrong (my guess is its something simple).I have:
*connected the 2 PCs with a Ethernet cable
*I can successfully share/transfer files between the 2 PCs
*When I found out the internet wasn't sharing, I manually changed the setting of the network adapter (IPv4) with the right ip/subnet
*I was unable to ping the two computer before I changed the settings of the network adapter.Even with being able to ping,the laptop still wouldn't let me share the internet.

OK, so I have a wireless/wifi connection at home. Problem is, the router is located in the bedroom (it's a rental house, and wired kinda odd). I have my desktop on a table in the kitchen.

The problem is that the laptop isn't able to connect to the internet. I have shared my desktop's internet to my laptop before using the same cable and everything and it used to work, but now it doesn't.Now comes the 'weird' part. I reversed the order, or I shared my laptop's wireless connection with my desktop. Although slow and choppy, it did work and I was able to access the internet from my desktop using a connection to my laptop with a cable.

I'm having this weird issue with my internet in which my desktop is having inconsistent internet connection, but when I check on my laptop (same room) it shows no problem.I have ATT Uverse, and my desktop's adapter is Belkin N750 DB Wireless-N Dual-Band USB Adapter, while my laptop has some adapter (I don't know the brand, but I know it's 802.11g.Also, my Desktop has much better specs than my laptop. My desktop has i7 intel processor, 4GB RAM (x4 total of 16) and 60 GB SSD boot drive and 2 TB hard drive for all the other softwares. My laptop on the other hand is a Sony Vaio with 8GB RAM and 500 GB hard drive.When going through these inconsistent internet connection phase, my desktop can drop to not even a megabyte per second, while my laptop may be at 8~10 MB download speed, but a tthe same time the ping on my desktop is around 5, but my laptop shows around 17.

These all need access to the internet.Up until now, everything worked fine. The Motorola modem was connected in Slot 1 and my desktop, laptop and Xbox were all 3 connected into slots 2, 3 and 4.The other day, I accidentally pressed a switch in my home that switched off my modem. Anyway, once everything was reset, things changed.I can no longer be on the internet with all 3 devices at the same time. Either only the laptop can be connected, with the 2 other devices being offline, or just the desktop and not the laptop.Whenever I gain access to the internet via the desktop, it shows as Network 10 and if I try and repair the connection on the laptop, it says it is unable to renew the IP address. If I switch it up and I have access on my laptop but try and have access on the desktop, the network shows up as Unidentified.
I have a Linksys E3200 router and it seems to work fine with my laptop, but doesn't work well with the desktop at all. I can't run a cable from the router to the desktop because of distance?on [URL], my laptop gets around 45 Mbps download rate and 5 Mbps upload rate while my desktop would get about 1 Mbps download and 2 Mbps upload, while both computers are at the same exact location. I have tried using two wireless LAN cards for my desktop in the past and they did not give me good internet at all. I've just bought a new Dell laptop (Inspiron N5110) and have Windows 7 installed on it. Things happened when my laptop get viruses and I have to re-install everything all over again. After successfully installing Windows, I installed the drivers for my laptop.
The problem is:
I have an internet connection in my house: wired and wireless.
I can connect the wifi zone from my laptop normally. It's ok. But when i plugged in the DSL Cable, the internet connection is always disconnect and then auto-connect again and again :(

View 1 Replies View RelatedI think our brand new Belkin router toasted itself after it automatically updated it's firmware. We've had it for three days the first two days we were downloading around 2MB/s, then last night it updated itself and since then it's been crawling around 100kb/s.
I've tried to plug the desktop right into the modem to see if it'd speed back up but it won't give it internet access this way. I've tried rebooting the modem after and before switching cables around but nothing will make it change.

I have my internet coming from my DSL modem (of course) and running into my wireless router. Once it is in the router I can't get a connection, period. Not even through any of my router's ethernet ports. This wasn't the case until about 3 o'clock yesterday. If I unplug the cable from my wireless router and plug it directly into my computer it runs fine. If I run it through my Micro-Cell tower and into my computer it runs fine. But if I plug it into a router it won't work through Wi-Fi or Ethernet. I have tested the connections of all the ethernet cables I am using. Figuring it had to be a problem with my router (since it was working earlier and the connection only disappears when plugged into it) so I bought another, same problem. What else could it be? PS: I'm using both a MacBook Bro, a PC, a PS3, and a Nintendo 3DS and none get a signal from the wifi. I always keep the PC hardwired through the ethernet ports on the router and use the wireless for everything else

View 1 Replies View Relatedi have a IBM Think Pad running window xp professional and i can't connect to the internet wireless or plugged in to the router. i have several computers and all can connect to my router.. when i plug in the IBM to the router the PC LINK light on the router turns off and there is no light on the ethernet cable i thought it may have been the cable but it works on the other computers.. I turned off and unplugged the router waited then tuned it back on i also did the same with the computer before connecting them together and still nothing.
