I was wondering how I could disable the internet function in my desktop computer using my laptop. My reason for this is that I dont want my son to be on the computer after 11, so Im trying to disable the internet using my laptop, I wouldnt mind if it disabled the laptop internet at the same time.
View 1 RepliesI have been trying to manually disable clients from within WCS by calling up the client in 'Monitor Client' and then in previous versions you used to be able to select 'Disable Client' from the drop down list. This would take you to the template page where you would deploy this to the controller(s). It's not there anymore in my version. It means you have to do it manually, which is really annoying.

*connected the 2 PCs with a Ethernet cable
*I can successfully share/transfer files between the 2 PCs
*When I found out the internet wasn't sharing, I manually changed the setting of the network adapter (IPv4) with the right ip/subnet
*I was unable to ping the two computer before I changed the settings of the network adapter.Even with being able to ping,the laptop still wouldn't let me share the internet.
*I have put everything back (all settings) that I changed to kind of start new.My laptop runs Windows 8 and my desktop runs Windows 7. [code]
OK, so I have a wireless/wifi connection at home. Problem is, the router is located in the bedroom (it's a rental house, and wired kinda odd). I have my desktop on a table in the kitchen.

Although slow and choppy, it did work and I was able to access the internet from my desktop using a connection to my laptop with a cable.

I installed windows 7 onto my laptop and before i install when i would press a function key a symbol would appear on the screen. But now when i press the function key no symbol would appear on my laptop screen. i cant see how much my volume is up or down or either my brightness.

The Motorola modem was connected in Slot 1 and my desktop, laptop and Xbox were all 3 connected into slots 2, 3 and 4.The other day, I accidentally pressed a switch in my home that switched off my modem. Anyway, once everything was reset, things changed.I can no longer be on the internet with all 3 devices at the same time. Either only the laptop can be connected, with the 2 other devices being offline, or just the desktop and not the laptop.Whenever I gain access to the internet via the desktop, it shows as Network 10 and if I try and repair the connection on the laptop, it says it is unable to renew the IP address. If I switch it up and I have access on my laptop but try and have access on the desktop, the network shows up as Unidentified.
I have a Linksys E3200 router and it seems to work fine with my laptop, but doesn't work well with the desktop at all. I just switched houses, and when I connected my computer, modem and router I found out that I have internet on my PC which is wired, but when I try to get connected with my Laptop using the wireless funtion, it doesn't work. The laptop finds the router and gets "connected" but when I try to open a web page, it says there's an issue with my internet connection, and also something about not finding the DNS...whatever that means...as you can see..

View 1 Replies View RelatedHaving HP Pavillion DV6000 laptop and the cd/dvd drive worked fine up until they got a virus on the computer and then went to Walmart and purchased an AV program and installed and ran the AV program. I think the program was Norton. I have completely scanned and removed everything I can find on the pc with numerous programs, but the cd/dvd drive still does not work.
Here is what the drive does...when a disc is put in the drive light comes on and you can hear and feel the drive spinning (I have tried 3 different drives in the computer and they all do the same thing). The pc will not boot from any disc...they light comes up at boot up, but will not boot. Putting a disc in the drive in Windows and trying to access the disc you get something like drive not ready, insert a disc. All connections are solid. The drive shows up in Windows Explorer as well.
