I have a simple home lan setup. Desktop(Windows 7 Ultimate) wired to router and laptop(Win Home BAsic) using WiFi. Both have All Printer and file sharing Enabledhe desktop cann see the Laptop in 'Network' but not the other way around. However, even though I cannot see the Desktop from the Laptop's 'Network' I can access the public folder of the desktop by using : \desktop-pcuserspublic command in cmd or search. Now why Is the Desktop not visible on the Laptop's network(though I can access it) and why can't the Desktop access the Laptop's shared public folder even though it can see it in his network?
His laptop is windows7 installed and it's unable to connect to the home router. It worked until afternoon, then the laptop was off for a while and since then it's not connecting. Rebooted both router and laptop several times. Other devices in house connects to the router but the laptop shows no connection present.
My laptop is not detecting any wifi connections. I have plugged my iphone in and internet will run off that. have tried troubleshooting but nothing. Its a toshiba satellite and using windows 7?
My laptop suddenly stops detecting my home wifi network, when all other laptops n gadgets in the house is able to. I am able to see other available wifi networks but not mine when it is just 2 mtrs away.
I have an HP Compaq nc6220 that I just got up and running after an extended stint as a paperweight. It had previously worked great in terms of connecting to the internet via wireless. Now nothing. It let's me go into Wireless Network Setup Wizard and offers to let me set up new networks, etc...But as far as I can tell, it isn't detecting any networks (though they are all around me and detected on other computers) and giving me the option to log in.There is no "Device Manager" option that I can find on this computer, which some forum posts have suggested to other people with similar problems.
I have setup a new wireless router and then connected to my laptop, my netbook, my ipad and my mobile.. I had no problems initially but the problems arise when sometimes my internet connection goes off.. after that when i switch on the internet connection then, all my device are back on track except for my laptop(HP Pavillion DV6000)
This problem gets solved automatically only sometimes when i restart my laptop. otherwise it does'nt detect my own wifi SSID.. it detects my neighbour'snetwork but not mine
working fine till I reinstalled windows 7, now detects all my neighbors wifi, but not my Asus wifi even tether wifi from my smart phone detected & connected fine.SSID not hidden, Windows Firewall switched off, No antivirus installed yet, System restore didn't work, device driver up to date. [code]
I have a Toshiba Satellite A665 Model Laptop. Which i bought 2 years back. I got a new wireless Internet connection few days back. but I am unable to use that network in my laptop. I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit OS in my system.
When I click on the Wireless Network Connection icon it says "Wireless network unavailable." There's also an error message that says "The Dell Wireless WLAN Card is disabled. Use the Dell Wireless WLAN Utility to enable it." When I right click on the wireless network icon it says "No wireless networks were found in range. Make sure the wireless switch on your computer is on. To see an updated list, click 'Refresh network list.'" I don't have a wireless switch. I have a wireless enable icon and it says Enabled. My wireless network is working because my phone sees it and two other networks in the neighborhood. I couldn't find the Dell Wireless WLAN Utility. I also tried my iPhone hotspot. Laptop did not detect it either.
My Toshiba Satellite Pro laptop has suddenly stopped detecting my wireless network. IT detects every other network in the area but mine. Other computers in the house have no problem detecting and connecting.Wireless is enabled, it happens no matter how close or far from the router. The network is set to broadcast the ssid, etc. I have not changed any settings on my laptop or router, this has suddenly started happening. Have updated drivers to no effect.Occasionally, the network pops up when I re-start the laptop. Rarely works and sometimes it will detect the network, then fail to connect, then the network can't be detected at all.

I think that's what I want to do. I have an HP desktop with vista and cable high speed modem and a linkys attached to it for wireless. My laptop is a toshiba with wireless running windows 7 and I use it upstairs wireless to connect to the net. There are times I need a file from the desktop and I have to go down and put it on memory stick to copy it over. Is there any way I can access the desktop from the laptop without having to do that? Would need step by step instructions to set it up if it can be done with 2 different operating systems.

I have wireless network running on my Linksys router, but the desktop and the printer are not on it.I have the desktop and laptop on the same WORKGROUP, but when I try to add the printer on the laptop by selecting a NETWORKED PRINTER option, I get an error.
My desktop is connected to the same wireless network as my laptop yet my laptop has connection while my desktop does not.The desktop might actually be connected directly do a router (says 'local area connection 2 connected' right now but still no connection).I checked other posts on other websites that say to post all this command-prompt information that i cant necessarily access because i do not know the administrator password.
I currently have my ISP-supplied modem wired to both my router and an old, old desktop. Can I run this network without using a desktop ethernet connection & throw away the desktop?

I have a desktop and a laptop. I can't get wireless or a wired connection to the router so I need to use my laptop to connect to the internet in the short term. I have connected to the computers using an ethernet cable. I can get to local fine but no internet.
I have attempted to bridge the two connection but when I click on resolve it says there is an IP conflict. I can't see where.
I have also tried ICS but it keeps saying there was an error when attempting to enable it although I did manage to allow it to connect at one point before it reverted back to not working it still wouldn't allow the desktop internet access. All services are running.

Share the internet from my laptop to my desktop. I see that others have posted on this subject before but I have been unsuccessful so far. Maybe one of you can point out what is wrong (my guess is its something simple).I have:
*connected the 2 PCs with a Ethernet cable *I can successfully share/transfer files between the 2 PCs *When I found out the internet wasn't sharing, I manually changed the setting of the network adapter (IPv4) with the right ip/subnet *I was unable to ping the two computer before I changed the settings of the network adapter.Even with being able to ping, the laptop still wouldn't let me share the internet. *I have put everything back (all settings) that I changed to kind of start new.My laptop runs Windows 8 and my desktop runs Windows 7.
