Once I had accessed Internet through Wi-Fi from my Laptop by giving the Security password. Disable and Enable wireless network is causing accessing the internet without asking security password every time.I want to access internet it should ask security password every time.

No matter what browser I use I usually dont get to any website. Most of the time it says access: local only, or local and internet, or limited connectivity. If I'm lucky at the right time I can open a website but then it's gone again.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI use windows xp and a BT home hub 2.0, i had my wifi set up so i could enable and disable wifi at my leisure. However every now and then i don't get the option to disable the wifi, so i normally have to reset my default admin password and enter my own password to eventually re use the enable/disabled option. But now i can't even do that so i'm stuck with permanent wifi. I did briefly manage to get the disable/enable option back by reset hub to factory settings but now it has gone again. What can i do? On my home network page where it reads devices currently connected to your BT home hub it has no devices detected for wireless.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHaving HP Pavillion DV6000 laptop and the cd/dvd drive worked fine up until they got a virus on the computer and then went to Walmart and purchased an AV program and installed and ran the AV program. I think the program was Norton. I have completely scanned and removed everything I can find on the pc with numerous programs, but the cd/dvd drive still does not work.
Here is what the drive does...when a disc is put in the drive light comes on and you can hear and feel the drive spinning (I have tried 3 different drives in the computer and they all do the same thing). The pc will not boot from any disc...they light comes up at boot up, but will not boot. Putting a disc in the drive in Windows and trying to access the disc you get something like drive not ready, insert a disc. All connections are solid. The drive shows up in Windows Explorer as well.
I want know if it's possible with a script enable disable wifi, without every time login to router.

Just installed my new 8960 and it's working fine. However, I'd like to disable admin access from wireless, and only have that available via the LAN. I can't find anything that looks like it'll do that in any of the setup pages, is it possible? All previous wireless routers I've had have been able to do this.
I have a couple of laptops on my home network and yesterday one of them stopped connecting to the internet. I was having some trouble with my sound cards and when I tried to automatically update the drivers my network connection cut out and now I cant get it to work correctly. All of the other laptops work fine.So initially I thought it was malware so I ran hijack this but i didnt see anything suspicious. I can see in ipconfig /all that the ip address subnet and default gateway are correct and I have the same DNS servers as the laptops that work fine. I can ping my router and the DNS server but not any of the laptops on my network or any external IP address.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI got this message on my laptop, complete with the little yellow triangle hovering over my little internet icon at the bottom of my screen. The weird part is that my desktop computer and my mom's laptop (both of which are using wireless from the same router) can both successfully connect.I'm using my mom's laptop to type this. I tried unplugging the router and plugging it back in and it didn't work my laptop still won't connect.Here's a few of the facts:
- coincides with a recent installation of Windows XP Service Pack 2, which I have not done.
- I'm using Windows 7, just FYI
- My big desktop computer already has an Ethernet cable connecting its built-in modem directly to the router. Someone on another site suggested using an Ethernet cable to connect my laptop directly to the router, but my laptop is a little bit of a junkpile and doesn't have anywhere to plug one in.
- When running Windows Network Diagnostic it tells me that there's a "problem with the wireless adapter or access point" which would be the router. I've tried resetting the router, but it didn't work.
when I was running a virus scan on my laptop. About halfway through the scan it had picked up 3 infected objects. I was using a different computer while I waited for the scan to finish and when I came back in my laptop had mysteriously shut itself down. I rebooted it and got the whole "Windows was not properly shut down" thing with the options to restart in Safe Mode and such. I just restarted it regularly and when I got back on that's when I noticed that I had no internet. I re-ran the virus scan and got rid of all of them. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with my lack of internet, but I figured it was worth mentioning.
I got a new internet provider in September. Since then,I have to have my laptop plugged in when I want to use the internet. When using just the battery for power the internet will disconnect and reconnect every minute or so. I looked up this problem before and I was told to change the power settings in the control panel, so I did.I went to change battery settings then advanced settings and then changed power savings on wireless device settings to maximum performance. Yet still, I get disconnected every minute when the laptop is unplugged. When it's plugged in it work fine.

I just upgraded to a faster internet speed with my cable company, and so they came and installed a new combination modem/ wireless router yesterday. Since then my computer has said that it is connected to the internet but when I try to load pages sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. Mostly they don't work, and when they do they are very slow and don't always load pictures, video, etc. The other computers and devices in my network have no problem with the internet connection. My computer connected perfectly before the new modem was installed, and it works when it is plugged in directly ( it was plugged in the entire time the cable guy was setting up the network). I tried running the diagnostic tool and sometimes it says that the dns server isn't responding and other times it says it can't find the problem or that it can't find any problem.
I have a Dell Latitude d610 laptop. It connects to the internet but shows limited or no connectivity. the cable used is ok as I can connect to internet with other pc. The connection was ok before, it happened just 2 days ago. I am using windows xp 2007.

The only way i notice this if, i am streaming something and it just stops the buffer or if am at the lobby of League of Legends and get timed out or, any http transfer gets cut out.I have an atheros card and w7 64bits installed with the latest drivers from Dell and have uninstalled and reinstalled them a couple of times, and they seem to work for a couple of hours , after a while getting back to the some problem.

Here's the thing: we have a laptop that has been humming perfectly along for more that 12 years because we have never let it be touched by the internet. It has built in wi-fi, but we've never connected it. It has no viruses, no Microsoft creep, we've never had to purchase a virus software update and it has outlasted every piece of computer equipment we've ever owned. We'd like to keep it that way!

McAffee has been uninstalled and Avast put on instead, but still it is the same - it works fine when the lead is plugged in from the router - on Speedtest it shows download speed 3.13. On wireless at home it works, just, but speed is reduced to 0.49 even though I'm sitting right next to the router. Bring it to work and it can't see the internet to connect to it
Wi-fi working fine prior to updating to itunes 10.6.1 but when I update on my laptop i have no access to internet showing "limited connectivity".Only way i can resolve this currently is to restore to earlier point and have now deleted itunes. However i need access to itunes for ipad and iphones.
