How can I find out the password for my wireless internet router without re-routing it? It is not written on the router and i do not want to pay someone to come in and re-route it. I want to be able to connect for my iPod touch and PS3. I have a D-Link router?
View 2 RepliesA retailer (Best Buy's Geek Squad) made adjustments to my Linksys E3000 router when I bought a Sony Media Player from them a number of months ago. It was the first wireless device integrated into my wired LAN network (three computers).
In attempting to set up a GUEST connection, I pulled up Cisco Connect which I originally used to set up my network. The BB Geek didn't use a key and followed a different procedure unknown to me.
As I face the Cisco Connect screen now, it tells me "Can't access your router settings. The router password has been changed." Then in the "Router password" block, it gives the original password I assigned.
I had written another name I thought was associated with the changes made by the BB Geek so I copied the password there now, inserted the new PW, and clicked Next. I was then asked if I wanted to proceed with the change ... but the change it was proposing was the exact PW I just copied. Confused, I cancelled the operation.
I'm looking for a wireless-N router with USB drive share, those are my only requirements. I was looking at a D-Link DIR-655.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought a Kindle whitepaper that uses Wi Fi. Other than going to a free wi fi location to download Amazon books, I decided to buy a router. Everything seems to be ok at the router end I believe. But when I use the wireless feature on Kindle, type in the password I assigned to the router, it always, I mean always, no matter how many times I set up, reinstall the router, and try to log into Kindle storefront using my kindle, Kindle always returns the message "Incorrect Password". Now I don't have a problem with the router. I'll keep it for future wi fi usage. I have done an installation with no password and can then go to Kindle storefront on the Kindle but that is rather insane to not have a password while I am reading books on Kindle. Why the password I assign to the router isn't working with Kindle after I reset the router (using a paper clip method) and reconfiguring with the new username and password like 5 times already? The username appears ok on the Kindle wireless, just the password doesn't work. I'd like the issue resolved before I buy more wireless products. Great router.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have the WRT160N router for 3.5 yrs and it's worked perfectly since installing it. About two weeks ago it began intermittently dropping cable connection. First few times I thought I could resolve it by unplugging/plugging router & modem so they can "re-syn" to the cable connection. That still works but now it occurs sometimes multiple times within a few minutes/hours and then won't happen again for an entire day/days. The other day I had connectivity but instead of the usual 5 bars I only had 3 while using my laptop in the same spot in the house as usual.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded my Wi-Fi router to an EA3500 and am controlling it using Smart Wi-Fi running on a wired Windows 7 machine.So far, I have been able to add devices to the network without issue and each of those connections works fine. All, except my TV, have been Windows 7 based machines. Smart Wi-Fi Device List has been able to "see" each device and I have been able to add them to that list as well.
I am attempting to add a Windows 8 desktop computer to the network which is using a external USB wireless adapter. That computer can see and connect to the network through the EA3500 and the connection seems to work fine. The only issue is that its adapter does not show up in the Device List.
1) Does the Device List do anything else besides showing a list of devices I chosen to add to my network?
2) How do I get my Windows 8 wireless adapter to show up in the Device List?
I have a CANYON Wireless N Router CNP-WF514N1A. It was working properly, but I changed its deafult password to my own . (192.168.0.1 -> wireless security -> new pass -> okay -> reboot computer ). After I restarted the computer, the router stopped working. The lights on it are fine, and if I plug the net cable into the computer I have internet too. The problem is, if I plug the cable into the router, I don't have internet. And I can't open 192.168.0.1 either.

View 4 Replies View Relatedwe purchased a new Toshiba laptop recently w/ win 7 OS and we cannot connect wireless to router using verified password. all other laptops, computers, LCD, etc. connect with no issue. we are using N response and WPA2 security settings. we have changed security from personal to auto with no success. we have also changed settings from tpik and aes - no success. we have verified the password several time to make sure and we also tried a friend's laptop running win 2000 OS and it connected perfectly with password. the strangest thing is that we managed to connect the new Toshiba wireless (secured) at our friend's house eliminating the thought of an issue with the laptop. we upgraded the firmware to the lastest version and that did not solve issue. the new laptop sees the network router and request password but, cannot authenticate to connect

I would start up diagnosis and it would fix for say half hour, then I would do it again and each time only for a short time, reducing each time. The same happened when I disabled or even deleted and reinstall programme the wifi adapter (which it always had a pop up saying it didnt do it properly).It also keeps saying to plug in to wifi which works but doesnt solve the wifi issue.I even had my father in law who was an IT guy look at it and no clue.I am desperate to get it fixed as I have lots of assignments to be getting on with.
