View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter enduring some protracted problems with wireless connectivity, I decided to bite the bullet and upgrade my Linksys WRT300N from firmware version 2.00.08 to 2.00.21.I found the links to advice on how to achieve this, via a two-stage upgrade url...I followed the following steps: Upgrade firmware using file "wrt300n.bin" file, as per the above link. This brought the firmware version to 2.00.17. Upgrade went smoothly - config page refreshed after rebooting the router and all was well.Upgrade firmware using file "WRT300N-EU-ETSI-ML-2.00.21-code.img" file, downloaded from the Linksys support site. Again, the upgrade went smoothly (apparently) ... except that after rebooting the router, my config page failed to refresh.I have since powered the router off (wait 30 seconds) and on again. Still no web access.
The device, however, does seem to be working OK. I have wireless access, and wireless access, via computers on my network. The only thing I cannot do is access the web config page - but that's not quite satisfactory. I have a number of customised settings on the device, saved to a config file. Included among those is a changed IP address for the router of 192.168.1.10. I am tempted to do a hard reset to factory defaults, connect via a dedicated cable connection and then reapply my custom settings (either manually, or from the config file.) However at this stage I have no confidence that the device will have web access after reset - and then it won't be working for me at all!
Does firmware version 2.00.21 require http access via a specific port (i.e. not 80)? Is there some other way I can access the device for modifying configuration, other than by the web utility? (I have posted another question about obtaining a copy of my long-ago-misplaced Setup CD-ROM.
I unplugged my router and when I plugged it back in, it stopped working. The 4 port lights and the ethernet light come on immediately when I plug it in instead of the normal boot sequence.
I tried resetting it, leaving it unplugged for long periods, using the power supply from my other router,... nothing works.
Just got WRT300N for connecting my ps3 thru wi-fi. I got everything works but the signal that I got from my PS3 is around 50% only. I am using latest Linksys firmware. My ps3 is located around 25 feet away one floor down from my wireless router. But there is no major wall inbeween the connection. My WRT300N should be a cutting edge product for networking. How come I still got 50% signal strength? Besides moving the router or pS3 closed to each other.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIn my home I have a cable modem wired to a links wireless router a wrt 300n in my office (only hardwired used in there) and I do not get such good distance to my back bedrooms with my laptop. I have run a Ethernet cable dead center of the house for my sat receiver that is connected and wired to the 300wrt. Here is my question can I use the 150 like a hub or switch at the office connected to the cable modem and use the wrt300n router so that I get wireless on that side of the house. Or in reading here I see I can maybe use a bridge. I do have a older Linksys wrt150n sitting in a box.I have read until my eyes are almost bleeding and am not sure. How I can get a better signal on the other side of the house.

Connection worked fine on my laptop before, however, stopped working approx 3 days ago.In attempt to resolve connection issue, I de-install linksys software from my desktop, now I cannot execute setup due to the fact that I cannot connect to the internet.
Since the secondary router WRT300N uses the same default IP 192.168.1.1 as the primary installed router EA4500, any attempt to log onto the set up page results in diversion to the Cisco Connect Cloud for the primary router.
Is there a way to access the set up page for the secondary WRT300N, bypassing the main router intervention via the Cloud software?
I've had this WRT300N for several years and it has worked very well.It suddenly dropped all wireless connections and no one can re-connect. My main pc is hard wired directly to the router and works perfectly as always. 3 wireless pc's and 3 handheld devices suddenly can't connect. I've powered down my modem and router for several minutes, but nothing changed. The firmware was upgraded a long time ago and there are no other upgrades available.
View 7 Replies View RelatedFor reasons I will explain in a separate thread, following a firmware upgrade to version 2.00.21, I am no longer able to connect to my WRT300N using the web interface. The device seems to be working fine (but for the lack of the web config access.) I'm loathe to leave it "inaccessible" and would like to use the Setup CD-ROM described in the manuals to connect directly to the device to see if I can fix the problem.
I have been through my "filing system" (read "junk room") to try to find the original device packaging, wherein I am sure I would find the original CD-ROM. Is there anywhere I can download an image of the original Linksys Setup CD-ROM for the WRT300N version 2.0 device?
So lately my internet has been painstakingly slow, Youtube videos dont load, Web Pages take FOREVER, its killing me. So I ran some speed tests This is wireless over my router. (WRT300N (Yes i know its old))
And this is direct connetion from my modem this really just makes me want to never use the internet again.
Due to problems with my wifi connection, I had to reset my router and modem. I have to reinstall my settings now, and therefore I need to write down a security number. That should be written on the back of my router (model WRT300N), a barcode with 8 numbers. I can't find that code. Where can I find it or is there another way to reinstall my connection and put a password on it? It's open access now.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a WRT300N wireless router that was working fine until I tried hooking up an Air ave Access Point for Sprint. Now the router doesn't work at all - even the hard wired connections don't work. I tried the usual - unplugging, plugging back in, disconnecting, reconnecting, hitting the reset button - nada.
Removing the Air ave Access Point doesn't matter - it still doesn't work when I put it back the way I had it before. The only way I can get a signal to my computer is to plug it directly into the modem, bypassing the router.
Why I can't play online on xbox live. I'm set on going online but when I go on to play online for MW3(Modern Warfare 3) my NAT Type says strict,I can't join any of my friends games. View 3 Replies View RelatedI cannot seem to figure out how to connect my Canon MP620 Wireless printer to my wireless router. The router is a WRT300N v 1.1 with the latest firmware upgrade. I am using WPA for security. I can connect to the printer wirelessly through my neighbor's open system so it has something to do with security I suspect. I have enabled the AP feature and disabled it to see if that is an issue. That has not changed anything. I have looked at other posts with HP printer issues and access point posts but none of those solutions have worked. The Canon gives me an option to use the WPA, WPA2 and WEP?

Windows server 2008 (providing DHCP and DNS) 192.168.89.1 on all
Cisco SG 300-20 (switch) 192.168.89.3
all Clients(15 x DHCP assigned IPs) connected to switch
WRT300N(192.168.89.2) connected to switch
Internet modem connected to WRT300N
To achieve this I need to disable DHCP on the WRT300N, since my server is providing DHCP.The issue I have is that when I disable DHCP at the WRT300N, I lose internet connection (connected to either switch or direclty to WRT300N).
If I conact from the modem to the pc I have internet so it must be the router. The power light is blinking along with all the port lights. Power light is blinking one time slow 2 fast. Have tried holding the reset button for 30 seconds and unpluging for 30 seconds. Can not go to the ip address it times out. New firmware is not avalible.

View 1 Replies View RelatedA retailer (Best Buy's Geek Squad) made adjustments to my Linksys E3000 router when I bought a Sony Media Player from them a number of months ago. It was the first wireless device integrated into my wired LAN network (three computers).
In attempting to set up a GUEST connection, I pulled up Cisco Connect which I originally used to set up my network. The BB Geek didn't use a key and followed a different procedure unknown to me.
As I face the Cisco Connect screen now, it tells me "Can't access your router settings. The router password has been changed." Then in the "Router password" block, it gives the original password I assigned.
I had written another name I thought was associated with the changes made by the BB Geek so I copied the password there now, inserted the new PW, and clicked Next. I was then asked if I wanted to proceed with the change ... but the change it was proposing was the exact PW I just copied. Confused, I cancelled the operation.
I recently upgraded the OS on my laptop to Windows 7, which wiped out most of my older Vista settings. When I try to connect to my home network, I am prompted for a security key (network key?). How do I find the security key? I can't find any of the paperwork that came with my router.
By the way, I am currently using my desktop, running under Windows XP.
